Water weight-I've blown up 7-8 lbs due to it. Ranch, cheese and pizza are all loaded with sodium. Hang in there.

be assured it is not fat!

you would have had to consume somewhere around 28,000 calories yesterday to do that.

I can probably guess it is water weight from the sodium from the pizza, and I am not sure what is the chicken liver thing, but if it had breading on it, that would be my other guess.

you fat cells do not like being empty, so any opportunity to fill up with water.. they will take it!

It will be gone in a day or 2

Well, it's probably mostly water, as the chix livers AND the pizza toppings are loaded with salt

Also, what did you have the day before? For myself, it usually takes 2 days before my water weight shows up from refeeds and free meals.

Keep drinking your water and try less salty stuff today and see if that does it for you.

The liver contains much more sugar then you think. 1 oz is about 1 carb. I bet you are holding on to water. Keep drinking more water and it will go away.
Good luck

I gained 10lbs of water in 10 days and I didn't consume 35,000 calories. In the last 6 days though I've lost 6 of it. ((shakes head))

water weight.
But that is a pretty large amount of water in one day.

But do I remember you having heart problems, Sassy?? If so, this could be a symptom of worsening heart problems. I would see your doctor if possible.

Definitely water. You must be sensitive. You'll need to watch your intake of salty things.

Not bragging here, I just can eat salt from here to kingdom come and don't gain a lb. I'm like the human diuretic.

Carbs on the other hand, I'm very sensitive. (Less so in maintenance, but still sensitive). My fat cells rejoice when I have a little treat, and expand instantly with excitement.

I'm a slow loser, too - but it does come off if you stick with it. I've lost 108 lbs in approximately 18 months. Not speedy by any sense of the word, but I figure I will eat this way the rest of my life - so I'll get there.

It's hard to break the salt habit ... even if it's just choosing "unsalty" foods ... once your taste buds get used to the "full natural" flavor without the extra salt, your body will probably be very happy!

hang in there - you're still doing an awesome job

There could be MSG in your ranch dressing and/or in the pizza that caused this. There is one pizza place near me that has the BEST pizza, but if I eat it (the toppings...) I gain 5 pounds overnight. Ask the restaurant and check your labels for Monsodium Glutamate.

Sassy I agree with everyone's observation. I usually do better doing the work week than weekends. I say that because during the week I pretty much only eat what I cook. On the weekends I will go out and eat according to the plan but I never know what the food was prepared with: Sugar or Salt. Most of the things I order shouldn't have sugar but sometimes the meats are marinated with something with sugar. I have started using Ms. Dash more than the seasoning salt I use to use. I also notice when I eat things that have to much sodium I'm not going to the restroom as much. So keep drinking the water and you will be back on track soon.

Sassy, in reviewing your past few posts and now hearing you're on medications, I think your body will thrive on cleaan home cooked meats. I would steer clear of anything processed and minimal pre-cooked deli/restaurant foods for optimal success.
pepperoni's
conventional bacons
hot dogs
pork rinds

sounds great, but don't forget the fat!

chicken breasts are fairly lean, unless you have the ones with skin on.

add butter and/or mayo with your breakfast eggs and lunch, and load the butter on your broccoli too

Check the tuna and chicken in the can, both are very high in sodium.

it is no doubt the work of the ANTI-WHOOSH FAIRY

namely, the accursed TUSH FAIRY i wouldn't worry about it. btw, although, i am sure you are aware, liver DOES have some carbs (it stores glycogen-even in chickens). also, the sodium will cause you to retain water, as well as hot, humid weather. Your weight gain was scary, but meaningless. I am sure it will be gone in a day or so. Just keep doing what you know is right, and pray for those of us who don't. Love & Profits:FLATFERENGHI

Fill up! That's not a lot of calories! Why not make BF a loaded omelet, lunch some good protein with that salad, then dinner chicken breasts with butter, steamed veggies and a salad to top it off. You'll lose faster by eating more!

The human body can retain a load of water for no reason whatsoever. I know mine is one of them. It's tough, too, because when you put so much on weight loss, we tend to forget that the water weight is temporary and not always an indictment of our dietary choices.

Hang in there, be healthy, and way to go on your tremendous losses so far!

I work in a weight management clinic that uses a very lean and healthy version of the low carb/low glycemic eating to help patients maintain their weight. The best rule with water is to divide your weight in half and that's how many ounces per day you should drink minimum to keep your body completely hydrated. Human kidneys can safely process up to 4 gallons per day... the key is to get your water in with pacing. Also make sure the water you drink is cold (40 degrees is recommended) as it will make your body burn up more calories to heat it). If you don't drink enough water, you will retain fluid. You have to flush fluid with fluid.

There is another trick we give our patients to try once they reach their goal weight. If they find their weight is up more than 2 pounds, we have them do a steak day. This is where they skip breakfast and lunch for a day, drink at least a gallon of water throughout the day and then at dinner, eat the biggest sirloin steak (any size) and a raw tomato. Most of the patients see anywhere from 0.5 to 5 lbs lost the next day. It causes your body's metabolism to burn more energy than it's taking in with breaking down the protein.

I too am fighting a battle with water weight. The FNP I work for has a background in endocrinology (study of hormones). He did blood work on me and found my estrogen levels as a guy were very high. This can cause water retention among other issues. The reason my levels were high in the first place is because I had been very overweight and had lost over 200 lbs in a year's time which caused my body to release estrogen (which is stored in fat cells). He simply prescribed me an estrogen blocker which has slowly helped with my water retention issues.
