Wow... I did it!

Tomorrow is the wedding (my BBF, I am a bridesmaid)

A year ago I bought my dress.. I was 5 months pregnant and had gone from 165ish to 180 by then, (and of course I bought the dress in my prepregnancy size 14) only to balloon to 230+ (I stopped looking, but i was 223 a week after giving birth) by the end of my pregnancy.

I was done nursing mid-March, and went back on induction March 18.. I was 210 and there was not a hope of getting into my dress. Could I POSSIBLY lose 35lbs by July 12th? It took me 6 months to lose that much weight last time on Atkins.

Well, this morning I got on my scale and I am 176! That is 34lbs GONE in 3.5 months!

SO tomorrow, with a little but of duct tape (to keep the girls in place... they are not tiny and do not like to be constrained like that) I will be literally FLOATING down the aisle in that gorgeous dress.

I am so excited, and do not feel the least bit bad that I am more excited for me than I am for my friend LOL. (ps: the bride is 29, the other 2 bridesmaids are 29 and 25... I am 43: so right there puts a lot of pressure on me LOL)

So, thank you LCF, thank you Chleochatra (it was a link to the oopsie rolls on my baby center board to Chleo's blog that brought me here). Thanks to all of you who over the years have warned people about the low-carb frankenfoods and urged me to eat more fat.

Thank you Barry Groves and Gary Taubes.. for your courage to write those books that go against the grain of traditional thinking. For easing my mind about saturated fats and helping me to feel BETTER than ever and not focus so much on my DIET, but to realize that slimming is a SIDE EFFECT of eating properly, and not the ultimate goal.

Because of this, my life is different.. better and more exciting. My entire family is benefiting from all that I have learned. My journey has been drastically different this time around, and the ONE THING I AM MOST GRATEFUL FOR, is the weight I gained with my (unplanned: Oopsie) pregnancy.

Since being grateful for it, it is like a weight has been lifted of my shoulders.. rather than hating myself and beating myself up for the way I ate last year, I have now realized that it was meant to be.

I would not be here in any other case.

So... to all of you who got through this post, think about this:

IF YOU WERE NOT OVERWEIGHT, what else would have brought you to research and learn so much about this way of life? We are all doing ourselves so much good, besides the struggles and frustration... that now the people that love US will benefit also from our better health. (as well as those who see and learn from us as well).

So, here is to the fat, both on our bodies and on our plates.... be grateful for it, be thankful that it led you here and remember what you love ALWAYS and those who love us too.

Prozak, I am SOOOOOOOO happy for you!!!! You've inspired me along the way with your realistic attitude about weight and eating LC. And look at you--you look GORGEOUS, and you're gonna be a knockout at the wedding!!!

Being realistic is hard, when we have so many negative thoughts in place. One of them I find to be the most difficult is realizing that we have to love what we learned to hate.

Upstream thinking vs: downstream: It is much easier to hate our bodies when we are overweight, but I found a way to be grateful for my weight gain. I think this was the key for me.

I just found your post! I am just thrilled for you!

You remind me of Dara Torres, the 41 yr. old woman that just qualified for the Olympics in swimming!

You will look as good, or better, than those 20 and 30-somethings!! That is just so terrific!

My son is getting married on September 27th, and I want to lose this weight and buy a nice dress. I want to feel good and look good! So far I'm not having much luck, but I'll keep trying!
