Here I Go Again

I don't know what's been with me. I've been lazy with Atkins and allowing something here and there and it's kept me holding my weight.

It started because one of my team's admins started keeping a candy jar. And they were minis. But that doesn't matter, as you know.

And then it was, Well, just this once, which I've probably done once a week lately.

And it's been nuts.

And it's been stress giving me the munchies.

And it's been exercising even more and wanting that shot a carb gives ya.

I've got to get back to doing it right. I know the drill. Have options READY. Have mind, STEADY. But I've been really busy and ready's been tough. And my mind? WEAK.

I've been great about exercise, I never fail on that. But I've slipped back into the world of Well, why can't I? Others do

Help me back.

I'm still steady somewhere in the 260s. We've changed our workout routine and I'm the type that adds in a lot of waterweight post muscle building....

I don't want to tolerate keeping my weight where it is. I want more off. I want to see 200. I want to catch up to Cleo's speed. (OKAY, I admit, I am jealous of the girl--a creative cook, witty writer, fast loser, yeah the last one is really the crux of it.)

My minigoal is 20lbs more. My trainer has said in 20 I should be able to do an assisted pull up and I want that bad.

She's going on vacation and I want her to come back and go "wow" and see a difference in me.

I want to see a difference in me.

I need a swift kick you know where.

JerseyGirl....I gave myself a good kickin' over the weekend. I decided I was so miserable that I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks and the goal I had set for our vacation was now completely unreachable, that my desire to keep at this was far greater than my desire to waste myself to those carb-ful foods. I take it meal by meal right now. Soon I will move to day-to-day, week-to-week and forward. I keep telling myself that my mind is stronger than this! I know you can do the same!
Definite kudos on the exercising - that is really something to be proud of! I need to get with the program and stop making excuses for not exercising!!

Laura, It happens but now it is time to move on and stop it. When I stray the best thing for me to get back on track is to do a few days to a week of induction and journal everything that I eat. I am doing it right now so know that you are not alone. I let a few too many weddings and social occasions ruin my eating and it was fun but now it is time to get back to business. You did it before and can do it again. As for the "Why can't I?" you can't because you want more for yourself and you CANNOT let the inner child stomp her feet and get her way!

Hey fellow Jersey Girl!

This is my biggest monster, too. I can only battle one day at a time but it will eventually be worth it.

I have restarted once again...July 1st...and I so want to stick with it and see the results that I know is more than just a possibility. Results are real and I keep checking out the success stories on this site and on others because those people have all been where we both are today.

It has already been said....but you can do this. You are worth it!!!

Where in NJ are you? I am in Salem Co....but work in Cumberland Co.

now stop eating the junk! get going! maybe do a clean induction..
and get moving.. the bus don't wait for no one! just get on, and toot the horn full speed ahead!

how many yrs do we all do this to ourself.. then yrs an yrs later when it catches on and we get really losing weight.. we say to our self "if I would have only stuck to this yrs ago i'd be at goal already.."

Spent the night cooking so I have no excuses for that. Gonna throw a s/f jello in my work pack as an alternative.

Tomorrow's meal plan:

BK: HB eggs, bacon
LNCh: broccoli and shrimp in mayo mix
SN: s/f jello
DN: chicken and squash

That's about 12g carbs and only 1300 calories, so help me add some more in?

other ideas from y'all?

Thanks, Hummingbird. I know I can too, I just got lazy and sloppy and swayed by the culture/media that is not low carb. You know, I was thinking how did I do this? The little sweets, too many nuts and seeds, too much cheese, and one or two carby meals. The other day I had a wrap AND baked chips because I convinced myself I was going rollerblading and would work off the calories. Yeah, not how it works for me. ANd it's not like one sandwich should kill me, but it did raise my water weight and I'm back to the high 260s. I've got to get back to carbs are poison for me (and stay away from the mini candy jar at work).

My motivation is to continue to achieve, to use her vacation as get ahead time, and to hit 259 soon. But I have to be real good.

Maybe BMR is not ideal for me either. I'm going to try for the 20g carbs only. I know I can feel full on that.

Very frustrated with myself, but one bright side here is that I'm learning to catch and fix my misteps in 10 lbs or less, not 50....

Intake:

Today will be 165g/34% protein, 140g/61% fat, 21g/5% carbs, 2038 calories.

chicken (cooked with soy sauce, paprika, garlic and salt), 6 drumsticks
3 HB eggs
3 pieces bacon
25 small pieces shrimp, 15 flowerets broccoli (seasoned with mayo, vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce)
zucchini
1tbsp butter w/basil/garlic seasoning
coffee
cream
protein shake
s/f jello

(calories may be off on mayo as it's hard to measure and more by eye)

Output
30m cardio
60m strength

BMR 1900
Calories to maintain--3300

Let's get honest--my weight hit up to 271.2 today, but my period is coming and I've been doing intense weight lifting, so I'm not freaked out on the number....

Not sure I'll manage all the chicken, which would have me at 1500 calories.

Also, interesting conversation with my trainer this morning. I'm probably going to meet with a dietician at her prompting. She feels I'm significantly weight-loss resistant and need a way to counter that.

Just a thought but have you read the Fat Fast in Atkins? It is a great test to see if you are weight loss resistant. It is not meant long term but I would suggest reading it.

If you're insulin resistant, you're weight loss resistant, and in February I was diagnosed IR. So I don't doubt that I am. Are you thinking I should do a FF?

Jersey Girl,

I wouldn't do the fat fast, which is a kind of faddish, nonsustainable thing to do, which I also remember from my many years on a.s.d. did not work for most people.

Just get back on track to the kind of diet you intend to eat day in and day out. Getting on and off plan successfully is the KEY to maintaining. So you are getting great practice here for what you will have to do for the rest of your life.

Not making a huge deal about going off, but just going back on, and learning how to deal with the food cravings you may develop from a day or two of too many carbs will get you over your fear of food, carbs etc, and make it much easier for you long term.

I tend to agre BS101. And I know a bit of what's held me back. I knew what I was doing (a taste here, a taste there). I could add it all up and say it was the mini chocolates at work on occasion, too much cheese, mucho seeds and nuts, and a wheat wrap and baked chips (one meal).

Still, I think going to the dietician would be good...if I can afford it.

So far, so good. Had a sugar craving and so ate some veggie and protein extra I packed (the shrimp and broccoli). However, no way I can eat all this. I'll be lucky if I hit 1500 for the day.
