Stats: so far -110 pounds!

5 days post op

WOW Today is day 5 after my tummy tuck. It has been an adventure. They removed 7.5 pounds of skin from where I lost 110 pounds.

The first couple of days were touch and go. The first night coming home and going to the bathroom was scary. Hubby had to go with me everytime to help. I have a binder on that clips underneath and I couldn't bend over to get the flap. Now, I can do it by myself. One small leap for man kind and I'm sure hubby appreciates not being awaken in the middle of night anymore!

I spoke to the doctor today by phone. He was impressed with my draining and exercise I've been done (lots of walking!), so I could finally take off my TEDS stockings. They were so HOT and that felt like a huge leap! He also said that I could start sleeping on my side. WOW - it seems like forever!

I go for my first follow up with the doctor on Thursday (7/10) so hopefully at least one of the drainage bottles will come out if not both. That will make things so much better. I really am hoping to get both out by the time I go back to work on 7/14/08.

Hubby takes off binder every day, cleans everything and takes pictures. The before/after he has taken is simply amazing! It has really shown me the progress. I told my hubby that even with the swelling, tummy looks 10 times better than it EVER did. I am surprised and grateful! It was by far the best decision I made!

Anybody thinking about it but is afraid, GO FOR IT! I am absolutely not a pain person and thought I would be dying by now. It was not that bad. Pain wise, I was probably about a 3/4 on the pain scale the first 1-3 days, that is all. Of course, if I over do the walking Tylenol helps!

AWESOME! Thanks for posting this....many of us KNOW we will need one and the fear is there...not just of the pain but also how it will turn out.

After losing 110lbs did you feel a tummy tuck was all you needed?

If so I would like to know what exercises you did! With so much to lose myself I figure a full body lift will be necessary and I have NO idea how I would pay for that.

Pics please and PLEASE keep posting how your doing!

I walked a LOT. We bought a nice commercial treadmill for the house and I hit that thing on hills 4-5 days a week. When I first saw the PS he was greatly impressed with my legs/behinney area.

I was interested in a tummy tuck and breast lift/slight reduction. He said for now, he would do a tummy tuck with muscle repair because that would be the hardest for me to recover from. After surgery, he told me all of that walking paid off because I didn't need muscle repair - just the tummy tuck to remove the excess skin! That has been a godsend because it hasn't really been that terribly painful. 6 months healing on this and then we go for the slight reduction/breast lift.

My mom asked me if I regretted it this morning. HECK NO! I would do this again in a heart beat. Even with the swelling, I feel/look 10 times better than what I did with that 7.5 pounds of extra skin hanging off my stomach. In fact, me and hubby went to the movies yesterday for my 'exercise' and I actually wore a regular shirt with a bra instead of the tank tops I've been wearing around the house. He could not believe how I look already!

Hang in there and never give up! I thought I would never be here myself!!
