I am not sure which brand you are using but the Green Pastures blue ice brand and the Radiant life websites suggest dosages for children and adults.

Hi

Sorry for the delay in getting back.

Fish oil and cod liver oil are different. Cod liver oil has less omega-3 in it, and it has more DHA. It's been traditionally used in infants and children. Fish oil has more EPA and DHA, and you can buy concentrated capsules. For example, you have to take 7 capsules of some products (like Eskimo 3) to get what you get in 1 (ONE!) capsule of PharmaOmega LIFE (Ultra Purified Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplements - PharmaOmega) And it's a much better value. I would not buy the NOW brand, or NatureMade for fish oil.

Once you've tasted poor quality products, you probably won't take it anyway. Good quality products have a light, fresh flavor. With fish oil, unlike other supplements, you get what you pay for.

Flax oil has some benefit, and eating flax seed is good for you. It's just that flax oil is not a substitute for fish oil. Flax does not supply the omega-3 that is good for the brain, eyes and mental health and it does not supply much of the other omega-3, that's good for the heart, joints, etc.

I avoid krill oil because of the environmental impact it has. Catching krill for dietary supplements is taking food from whales, seagulls and more. Krill has low amounts of omega-3, and while marketers sell it as an antioxidant, there is very little of the antioxidant in it. Krill fishing for supplements has been banned in Alaska, off and on. The companies who sell it try to keep it going. There is little research on it and no reason to think its better than a good quality fish oil.

Humans need both EPA and DHA as adults and children. DHA is required for healthy infant development so people think it's more important at that time. Consuming DHA over the lifetime keeps our brain more functional in older age. EPA is very important for the heart and joints and keeping inflammation 'in check' (aka reduced). Many diseases today are related to inflammation, and we need EPA, too.

Here's an email if you have more questions: WellnessCoach@nlppp.com This email doesn't go to me, but they can reach me. Mention you are from Lowcarb Friends forum if you want!

All this time I've been taking GNC Multi-Oils and I'm wondering if it's even doing a darn thing. Could someone clear this up...what's the difference between fish oil and fish body oil?!?!?! Things were so much easier when I was young and able to pop a Flintstone.

OK, I just picked up TwinLab Norweigan CLO. Contains the following:

Ingredients: CLO
Omega 3's - 970mg
EPA - 554mg
DHA - 369mg

This is all per teaspoon so I am guessing a tablespoon would be sufficient.

Does this sound good to you? I Hope I didnt waste my $.

I am askeered to take it.........LOL!

This looks like good levels. I just ordered 9 bottles of my fish oil but would try this because my current fish oil has 950 omega's and the EPA is lower 5 hundred something. Does this company have it's products independently tested?
