Do YOU count coffee carbs??
I am just curious as to how many count the carbs in coffee. I know Fitday and other sites say there is approximately 1 carb per 8oz of coffee. I used to drink A LOT of coffee, but have now switched to decaf and only drink a cup or two a day and sometimes none. I lost very well with drinking unlimited coffee in the past. I am noticing that sometimes in the evening I want something sweet mentally and a cup of decaf works.
Do you count the carbs in ALL of your coffee? |

I Don't count the coffee, only what I put into it.
From all the reading I have done, the coffee only has carbs if it has chickory. If I had to count the carbs in coffee, I would have never been able to eat as much as I drink LOL Must not have effected me to much since I'm over 70lbs down now. |

No. I drink it black and one or 2 cups a day. In DANDR the only reference made to coffee is that it mimics the effects of sugar on blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin release.

Yup. I figure counting everything is to err on the side of caution but since I average 30 to 60 grams a day, I'm not going to sweat them.

Nope. I don't drink coffee when I'm on my monthly 1 week of inducation. But during the 3 weeks that I allow myself 40-80g of carbs, I do not count it. But I also only drink decaf.

The nutritional content statest that i cup of black coffee has less than one carb. And the book is concerned w/the insulin effect so I don't worry about it.

I only have one or two cups in the morning so I don't count it, nor do I count the cream I put in it. I am always under my carb allowance for the day anyway so it is just one less thing to add to my FitDay.

Coffee is a killer for me and I have to watch out for the carb counts! So yes I count it.
Example: coffee=1 carb, heavy cream=1 carb, 3 splenda= 3 carbs. That is 5 grams of carbs in just my morning coffee. So, I try and not drink it everyday. ![]() |

I have always counted my coffee carbs in the past. I was debating whether to keep doing that or not. I feel like I probably should count them. I can definately see those counting their cream, sweetners etc...
I drink it black with some liquid sweetner. I have really cut way back so it won't be hard to count them. I was curious as to how many count it and don't. It is interesting how we all view it differently. Most of what I have read has listed coffee with carbs. In the end I guess it doesn't really matter if one doesn't count and they are losing well. Thanks for the articles and input! Have a GREAT low carb day! |

I don't drink coffee every day anymore. I drink it black with coconut oil in it. I don't count carbs and even if I did I wouldn't count that and for me never caused an issue.

Nope, I drink coffee all day and evening, never worry about any carbs in it. Never have. But then I don't count carbs, just starches, so no worries. I think after you have been on a "plan" for a long time, things like coffee carbs arn't any big deal anymore. The other stuff is a bigger deal, counting for the rest of your life. And it does have to be for the rest of your life, rest assured friends.

I do. Starbucks website lists a venti Americano with an extra shot as 5 carbs. Plus I probably add 3 carbs worth of cream. Way too many to ignore.
That's not a normal daily thing for me - more like just a Friday breakfast. Didn't I read that instant coffee (yuck) has way more carbs than drip? |

If you're buying coffee from a coffee shop, count on carbs to be in it. They put all sorts of stuff in their coffee, even the regular kind. They have to in order to make it taste so delicious. Sigh, I miss Starbucks.
Rest assured home brewed black coffee is carb free. The nutritional facts for one cup (8 fl az) are as follows: calories: 2 tot. fat: 0 sat. fat: 0 trans fat: 0 cholesterol: 0 sodium: 5 mg tot. carbs: 0 dietary fiber: 0 sugars: 0 protein: 0 thats for reg. caff. black coffee brewed from grounds and made w/water (of course, IDK what else you'd make it with lol). :-)
