My personal opnion is , is that it is time to start slowly upping your carbs. After 7 months, your body is use to same carb intake. Take to shake it up a bit.

Add exercise. or more of it.
I was stuck the last time for about the same amount of time...3 months...and it took extra effort to get me to start losing again. Upping carbs and upping (adding) exercise.

i am really considering just doing low calorie i did this last year stayed under 1500 calories a day walked 1 mile 5 days a week and lost 27 pounds in 6 weeks then for some reason i just stopped. i think with all the exercise i am doing now watp and a bit of weights it might just be more consistant. but then i factor in that i am type 2 diabetic so thats why i want to stay low carb.

No need to do low calories, especially since you enjoy low carb and your diabetic. Up your carbs slowly, you will be amazed at what shaking up your metabolism will do for weight loss. I lost my best after induction at 40grams of carbs a day.

If I had my DANDR book I'd be positive of this. But as it stands I loaned it out. Veggies are the first carbs to be upped (added) I'm not sure about this one but I think that fruits are next. Make sure if you add fruits they are low glycemic ones. Berries are low. Bananas are not. Good luck with your WL.

If it were me, ( I carb cycle anyway) I would eat a higher carb meal, sticking with healthy carbs, then vary your carb intake every few days untill you start losing again. It has workd very well for me.

Your BP meds could be causing a problem too. I had to switch mine because the beta blocker was causing me to stall. As soon as I swithced I started losing again.

The lower my carbs the higher my calories. Higher carbs with lower calories.

When I'm on my 40 carb rotation I eat around 14-1600 calories.

Read up on carb cycling. If you do it correctly ( healthy carbs) it is a great way to keep on a steady stream of losing with out feeling the deprivation that this woe can cause for some.

If your blood pressure med is metoprolol it may be stalling you. It is a beta blocker and they increase insulin resistance and blood sugar. Ask your doctor if there is some reason you have to take that drug or if you could switch to one like linsinopril which have a positive effect on blood sugar.

have you been measuring to see if with your new exercise plan you are still shedding body fat but adding lean body weight? Stalls are defined by Dr Atkins as 4 weeks of no scale NOR inches lost.

Also have you checked chapter 15 of DANDR to see if any of those reasons apply to you like your betablocker or a had a blood test to see if possible your thyroid is not functioning right since low cals low carbs can interfer with it.

Also have you plugged your foods into a tracker to make sure you are not deficient in any vit nor mineral? lots of low carbers get low in calcium potassium vit D and other things based on their induction food choices. Low calcium can halt weight loss as the corrective hormone will interfer with thyroid production too.

i take metoprolol because in 2005 i had a heart attack and thats what the dr put me on but that being said i have not had insurance for the last two years so i go usually once a year to see her it costs me big time like 300$ a visit. so they do the blood work and tell me everything looks good and write me the same meds but since i have started this wol i have not been to see her i am going in august. but i do have a fealing some part of my stall is the meds

Not losing weight could be your body saying, "Give me more food!"

In Naturally Thin by Jean Antonello, there is a lot of information about the body's response when it perceives that it is not getting all the calories it needs to produce energy. It will go into starvation mode, which means a drop in metabolism so it can survive on fewer calories. And even, in some cases, add weight.

Eating low-carb makes it actually easy for me to delay eating a meal . . . or to forget it entirely. That's because it takes less protein and fat to fill me up, and it keeps me feeling full longer.

That said, if I put off eating too long, I usually get really hungry really quick. I can't go without a snack or a meal the way I used to.

I used to believe that the only way to lose weight was to be very restrictive with calories. As I see it now, that's a bad, even a dangerous thing. And why should I want to restrict calories? Eating low-carb means I can enjoy all the foods that other diets say are EVIL.

I started making changes in my diet in February, cutting down on or eliminating bread and chips and snacks and drinks with corn syrup and other things like that. Then on June 20, I started induction which is officially over tomorrow. In that time, I have eaten more on a daily basis than I ever have before. MORE, and I have lost weight.

As far as I'm concerned, losing weight should not be about counting calories. It should be about giving the body what it needs, both in terms of calories and in terms of nutrients. Trying to cheat the body of what it needs always backfires.

I agree. I never count calories. Only carbohydrates. I eat no more than 20 carbs a day and freely enjoy bacon, hamburgers, eggs, steaks, fish, ect...

I limit my veggies some but even then I do have fairly good sized salads. Cheese I try to limit but some days I even have quite a bit of that.

I do take a daily multivitamin though. I figure what I miss from food I will get from them.

Speaking of vitamins. Where can I find Whole food vitamins? Does anyone have a link or something. Sorry to thread jack. My brain just wanders...

You may want to research carb cycling. Right now I'm doing a very primitive form of it, and I should actually try more variation. But I'm pretty lazy when it comes to food. But either way, don't let your body get used to the number of carbs you are consuming. Every month I do one week of induction, three weeks of 40g-80g a day, a free weekend of whatever I want to have (I try not to be too bad) then back to my week of induction.

I agree! Plus I'd switch up the cardio, add some weights. The trainers at my gym always tell me that when doing weights, your second set should be almost impossible for u to do. For example, your muscles should be shaking, etc.

Just be careful, lol!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Another thing I was thinking.... Check out the Eating to your BMR thread in the challenges section. You might want to see about upping your calories. At 186 I need around 1700 calories. With more weight you would need more calories. It's just another option to try. I did it and was losing better. Unfortunately I keep sabotaging myself and eating chocolate so my best layed plans go wrong. But again I'm just throwing out another option. Whatever you try, you need to give it at least a week to see if it's working. It might actually be longer, but again I don't have my book.

Side note, when you (not anyone here) borrow someones book and decide to go to WW instead, bring back the book! Yeah, I'm venting a bit here.

I do not lose if i do not eat...

still a big struggle for me as I have no appetite between breakfast and supper.

If I force myself to eat and do manage to get 1800-2000+ calories a day I will lose, but it is really, really hard for me.
