No dairy for me!

after a super long stall (5 months ), i am back on a sort of modified induction. i decided to give up dairy because i think it might be a huge part of my problem. today is day 3 and i am NOT liking this! i miss my cream cheese treats! i want oopsies!

ok, rant over, i just had to share.

Are you adverse to eating a soy product? You might be able to find a tofu cream cheese. I think tofutti makes one. Organic soy is always a better choice than conventional if you can obtain it.

Good luck!

The good news is that you'll find some information: Either this will break your stall and you'll know you have to be careful with dairy or you won't break your stall and will know that you can eat dairy and it will be part of your diet again.

No. I actually wanted to say that I hoped this didn't break your stall so that you could still eat cream cheese, but I thought that might sound mean. I hope that your stall does break and that you can eat your dairy, too. Giving up all dairy is hard!! You are to be commended for trying to find out what works for your body. Like I said in the other post....I can eat most dairy products, but not yogurt. Wish I knew why.

Please be careful with this if you aren't lactose intolerant or allergic. Our options are somewhat limited as it is. When I tried this, it was...ummmm...not a success.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but I did a little research and soy based products are not good for women with PCOS. I try to avoid soy for this reason.

You can also use rice cheese (1 carb per serving) and almond milk if you want to avoid soy.

I was just going to suggest this, but make sure you use 3 T mayo and not 3 ounces.

You can make homemade mayo using olive oil and egg yolk and lemon then use that for your oopsie "cream element"

If you like coconut you can use Coconut Cream as a sub for whipping cream. I've been using it in my coffee every morning and its been a great treat. Just be sure its not Cream of Coconut and check labels as different brands may vary. I do feel your pain!

If you think dairy might be doing something to you-have you considered maybe switching over to goats cheese?

I can't do regular dairy (other than fake whip cream-oh, hey, wait-that's not dairy) but I can do goats cheese with no problem & no side effects. They also carry a goats cheese that is in a spread & thick like cream cheese. Taste like it, too. (it's the only goats cheese I don't like)

You mgiht consider that alternative, too-if you think you might be lactose intolerant.

Dyan

check your labels

there were 2 cream cheese containers put out by shoprite supermarkets. 1 had less than 1 gr per 2 tblspns, the other 2 gr per same portion. If u are eating cream cheese with the former count, there should be no problem, if u are not eating the whole container. (to be on the safe side, i always count 0 or less than 1 as 1. in food labeling, 0 is not necessarily 0). I hope this helped. Deprivation is dieting, and diets don't work. Only life long plans work. well if TOM is looming, you might better stay with no dairy through the end of TOM...especially if you usually gain some water weight. Then perhaps there will be a lovely whoosh at the end for you.

if it is not PCOS, could it possibly be yeast?

yeast is a big issue for some of us too, and I only need to avoid aged cheeses and not the dairy. I am fine with that
