Green Tea Powder...?
I got an email from hungry girl this morning about green tea powder that they use to make green tea lattes....
Now I think this would be a great replacement for my coffee in my eggcreams, and I love green tea lattes! I'm going to see if my chinese grocer sells it today. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm thinking adding green tea to my diet can't be bad.. See if it does me good? |

i think its called macha?
i've only made it into a tea (using a little whisk) but i bet you could throw it in easily and it would hopefully blend up nicely. Sounds like a good idea! ![]() |

yeah! it is called macha..
I can't wait to try it! I'm even curious if I added it to heavy cream, whipped it, then put it in the freezer if it would be like green tea icecream Mmmm |

That is SUCH a good idea!! Yum!
I read a study somewhere that drinking more than three cups of green tea every day can speed up the metabolism. I stopped drinking so much green tea because it was leaving stains on my teeth (eek!) so this might be the perfect solution! Let us know how it tastes if you try it! |

I don't know what this stuff is, but I would question, why not just get regular green tea?
I'm sure the powder is just a pile of chemicals? What I like to do is get like 6-8 green tea bags and just let them steep for a long time in about 2-3 cups of water... and when they've steeped all they can steep, put it in a pitcher and fill it up the rest of the way with water, chill and serve... But who knows? Perhaps this powder stuff is better? I dunno...? |

The powder is just ground leaves that are ground into a powder..

In case anyone is interested, matcha literally means ground (ma) tea (cha). There are many japanese green teas that end in this way; bancha, sencha, kukicha, genmaicha, etc. My favorite is kukicha, made from the twigs of green tea. It only has 7 mg. of caffeine per 8 oz. cup: without some of the unfortunate chemicals some companies use to decaffeinate their tea.

I get my powdered green tea from takaokayausa dot com. Its calle green breeze- mixes easily in water, hot or cold. Ladies I work with have tried it and like it, too. So easy to add to a bottle of water at work.

I went to the tea site Pepperette recommended and ended up looking at the recipes for Green Breeze. When I saw the GB moist tofu cake, I thought it was one of the grossest looking foods I'd ever seen
...then I saw the picture of the GB potato salad. Whoa! Maybe I'll stick to matcha in tea and lattes (although the GB ice cream might be doable.)![]() |

. It is iced or not at all! |
