Something Different about you...

Been back on Atkins since April 5th. Finally reached over the 25lb mark. (-26lbs today)I keep telling my DH that nobody is noticing that I have lost weight. He just says....you always hid your weight well...big shirts and dresses. He tried to make me feel better. Well.....it started changing this week. Did you color your hair?? Did you cut your hair?? No, well, maybe three months ago. haha. Gal I worked with said...you better start wearing tighter clothes...they are falling off of you. Finally someone noticed a change. Went through my closet the other day. The goodwill pile is getting bigger. I am pulling things out of my skinny closet and moving them over. Didn't they use to have a place on this website that people could trade clothes with others that have lost weight?? DH job has been really slow(construction)...can't afford a new wardrobe. Goodwill take trade ins???

Well I will keep you posted on the new comments to come. It feels good to work toward my goal.

It's all it takes is one person to notice and you'll be on cloud nine!

I love Goodwill! Perfect for those inbetween sizes

Great progress. Yeah I agree that Goodwill is a good place to go while you are still losing.

Keep those comments coming .

I am finally at the point where just about everyone I see says something to me.
just about fifty pounds later...
I think people want to be SURE before they mention weight or something.
Of course my close friends have been saying things for longer.

Thanks for the comments. I was thinking when I did Atkins years ago...I started hearing comments around 20 lbs. haha. Definately a slower pace 6 years later. Also coming up on 44 years old...so the ol' metabolism has slowed down a bit. I will not try and panic...just think...it is a lifestyle change and will come off eventually. I try not to beat myself up if I mess up. It is better than where I was several months back. No more joint pain in my hips and feet. My clothes don't cut me in half when I sit at my desk. Although I will have to get me a belt to hold up my baggies. Haven't had a belt in about 4 years. lol. I just passed another gal in my office and she says....everytime I see you now you are wearing something new. Told her I was digging through my skinny closet and found a bunch of things I haven't wore in many many years.

Nobody notices with me till I hit at least 30 pounds down - I'm tall, so I hid the weight well when I'm gaining it OR losing it!

i am in a bad spot... we moved away from our small town and then I gained the weight (I was 140 and then ballooned to 210 over 2 pregnancies)

I moved back here 2 years ago when I was 161, so nobody saw how much weight I lost, in fact it would have looked like I gained.. even though I felt so skinny.

So now here I am, and everyone is seeing me at 186 and i can imagine they are all thinking how fat I got in 10 years

Nobody says a word to me because for the most part they do not know I am losing (except my close friends/family and in-laws).

You guys keep me going LOL

Prozak....hang in there. I know it is difficult facing your old neighbors. But you got to remember where you were coming from. I hated not being able to breath and my body hurt so bad. I was 220 when I started. So I know where you are coming from. I have a twin sister that lives in Texas....and she got super skinny and was single and loving it. Talk about comparing yourself to another image people have. At least you didn't have to stand next to your identical self staring back at you with pity. Things could be worse. haha. Keep up the good work and do it for yourself. Keep positive thoughts and don't beat yourself up.

Debi in Ohio....I lost 46 lbs in three months when I first did Atkins 6 years ago. That is why I said things are slower. But I am trying to keep positive. I feel so much better...I just won't put a time limit on it. It is suppose to be a life style change for the rest of my life so there is no time limit right? lol.

Success to all and have a great upcoming weekend.

You've done great!
It has taken me 8 months to lose 25. Kind of discouraging, since I still have about 40 to go... but at least I'm not gaining.

No one has noticed on me yet? (I am not telling anyone either) My face is much skinner. Just got hair cut real short for summer. I would have never been able to pull it off 20 pounds ago.

My weight obsessed MIL is coming in tomorrow. She will be the first one to comment if it is noticable. Although, never encouraging. (Could write a book about her comments to so many people. She actually made her own 140 pound daughter cry all the way home from a cross country visit)
Wish me luck.

Thanks all for the encouragement. A little update. My twin sister I mentioned earlier has joined me in LC-ing. She has ballooned up this year with her stress at home. She is doing great so far. 10lbs down in one week. It is easier to stay motivated when you have someone to bounce ideas off of. Now we are sharing recipes back and forth. It is great. Keeps me motivated and I have to report to someone so it keeps me in check. haha.

I always say the same thing, but you probably are wearing the same clothes so people don't readily notice how they are maybe looser than before. I noticed my daughter who has lost 50 pounds still wears her baggy jeans and the same t-shirts she always wore and at first glance, she's still the same, but underneath those clothes, she's 50 lbs. lighter.

That must be the problem. My husband says that I hid my weight well by hiding in big clothes. I am still wearing a lot of them, but am swimming in them. I went to put my lunch away this morning wearing the same ol' black slacks I have been wearing for a time and one of the guys in the breakroom says "Boy you are really losing a lot of weight". That is big coming from him....Mr. Gym maniac. Even better I didn't have to go to the gym to get it. haha I'm on my way.

One of the things I noticed when I began this journey is that a lot of people realize that something is different about you, but they're just not quite sure what it is. They're afraid to mention weight, because they feel like if that's not what is "different", then they'll look like a fool and it'll put both of you in an awkward situation. That happened to me many times. Give it a few more pounds and I guarantee - people will notice!!!!!

Keep up the good work!!
