Skin candy! Why not treat your skin as well as your body?

OMg I had an epiphany last night.... I was cleaning my face with my EV coconut oil and was thinking to myself I should really be exfoliating as it had been a few days (I like to exfoliate 2-3x/week)

SO I was massaging the oil all over my face and about to wet down my washcloth to wipe it off when I had a thought.

SUGAR!!!

So I ran to my kitchen and while dripping coconut oil down my chin I reached for my tub of sugar waaaaaaaaaaaay in the back of my cabinet (for my friends) and saw my tub of Xylitol. I thought to myself 'why not?' it is the same consistency as sugar.

I dipped the tips of 2 of my fingers into the Xylitol and added that to the oil on my face and massaged lightly for a few minutes. I did my neck and my lips (oooh it tastes gooooooooooooood BTW LOL )

I then gently wiped it off with a warm cloth and then added another small dab of oil and massaged it all over my face and went about my business.

Within 2 minutes of leaving the bathroom my face started to tingle... it got warmer and warmer and it felt like it was glowing. it felt SO ALIVE I really cannot explain it.. my face only ever feels that good after spending some time in the sun. it tingled for a good 1.5 hours, far from an uncomfortable tingle, more like the blood was moving and it felt HAPPY LOL.

Oh man, now today my face is so soft I can't believe it.

OK, so now the icing on the cake ladies and gentlemen....

i googled Xylitol skin and found this gem of information...

Skin Health
Studies indicate that Xylitol consumption increases skin thickness and collagen content in animals. Skin lotions that contain Xylitol, have been shown to reduce bacteria and increase dermal hydration, with its high moisture affinity.

Wow, i really could be on to something... give it a shot and report back here, I HIGHLY recommend it.

PS: I bought a little pouch of xylitol at the health food store for about $8, it would last you 5 years at that rate

Cool! I'll try that - I prefer erythritol for cooking so I will use my little can of Xylitol for a facial! Thanks for posting your great idea, girlfriend!

Now my skin is something I've never taken good care of, just been lucky with the gene pool! But, I know now that I'm post-40 I'm not gonna be able to count on those Irish genes forever!

One more thing to research...

Is it the irish genes?

My Mom is 66 and does not look a day over 50, her Dad is 94 and does not look a day over 65!

When I was pregnant and carrying around all the extra weight I looked even younger, but it is because my skin was 'fluffed out' LOL as I lose weight it begins to look like a deflated balloon (my butt/hips/thighs included) so if this Xylitol does what they claim it can do I can maybe expect less sagging this time around

Well, I've always blamed it on the Irish genes!

Most of my family has great skin just by nature, but I know that I want to look as good as I can for as long as I can, so doing specific things to take care of it is NOT a bad plan.

And you look AMAZING, so that's an inspiration, too!

Mkay...I have the Xylitol, but can't find the coconut oil in my regular grocery store. Should a health food store have it? Is it liquid or solid (like Crisco)? I must try this facial!!! OH! And one more question! Are you acne prone? Have you noticed the CC oil causing any breakouts? Kay. I think that's it for my questions.

I even started putting a 1/2 tsp of EVCO in my baby's bottle...

I am researching making my OWN formula, and found that EVCO is one of the fats they recommend adding to it. I wonder how much she would hate it if I added cod liver oil too LOL.

there really isn't anything sweeter than a baby sleeping with mild coconut breath

coconut oil is solid white at or below room temp (crisco-ish), as soon as it warms up it becomes clear liquid.

If it is STILL solid above room temp, it has been altered and is not good for you.

EVCO: smells like coconuts it is the oil from the first press.. quite a bit more expensive, but if using it on your skin a little goes a looooooooooooooooong way, and how much do we spend a month on 'products' anyway/

VCO: can have a slightly less coconutty smell/taste, it is usually from the 2nd press.

CO: is not smelly and has no taste and is usually cheaper and better for cooking.

I buy all of the above at the HFS, as well as the xylitol

Oh i have been lucky all my life with no acne, but my sister suffered horribly from it throughout her teens and adult years.

She went off of gluten ENTIRELY and uses CO daily on her skin and has not had a breakout for YEARS (unless she accidentally eats some gluten...)

Hey Prozak or should I say VERY youthful look lady
Can you tell me I have the Coconut Oil & the Xyitol, I understand the combination for exfoliations of the face, love it. Now the coconut all over your face cleansing, are you taking make up off this way? So I don't have to use any soap/cleanser after cleaning my ridden face of make up off after cleansing w/Coconut oil? I have oily skin and I once in a blue moon get a ZIT So this won't clog pores? I just want to make sure I am understanding the cleaning part. Thanks and Good Lord I hope this makes sense

I have not used any cleansers on my face in 2 weeks, i just started using the oil and massaging it, and then removing it with a warm cloth.. I don't wear much makeup, but it seems to do the trick. I then put a small dab of clean oil on my face and massage it.

I truly believe that most cleansers do more damage to our skin, as it will clean EVERYTHING away including some oils that cannot be replaced with chemicals or lotions.

the exfoliating HAS to take away dirt and makeup too...

I am 99.9% sure that CO will NOT clog your pores

And thanks for the compliment

I agree, it IS an organ and probably the most important one, I mean what would we be without it? LOL

If you are curious.. go to cosmeticdatabase dot com and type in your favorite skin care products and see how they rate.

It is scary: the stuff we are putting on our skin.

crap, even BABY WIPES for sensitive skin contain chemical crapolas.

Just wanted to remind people, do a small allergy patch test first! A while back I tried coconut oil on my face and neck. THe result was red like sunburn and heat like sunburn for about 3 hours! So try a small patch first ok?
I use olive oil on my face instead and that works beautifully! Sometimes I mix it wirg brown sugar for a body scrub, I'll try Xylitol for my face tonight!
