Made my first 'choice'....

The office took me out yest. for secretaries day, we went to a luncheon, fashoin show.
There was only one plate of food to choose from, a nice chicken salad, croissant and a cup cake. I made up my mind that I was going to eat it all because they paid for the meal and that was very nice of them. Now normally, in all of my years on this woe, I would have eaten the cupcake and then 'gone off the wagon' as they say on this board. (http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ma...off-wagon.html) Well, after reading the last thread about choices, I decided to be intentional about this cupcake. I ate it as if nothing happened and I am still on plan, I basically never went off plan. No cravings and still low carbing. I've never done that before, I feel as if I graduated to a new level.
We can make a choice on one item and not have a carb fest for the rest of the day, week or month. It is all a state of mind!!
Thank you tooter for that post, it really helped me.

You certainly have. It's what I would call being a rational person.

No unseen evil force compelling you to eat six more cupcakes.
The ground is not trembling - and no hand came out of the clouds
to smack you upside the head.

You won't gain eight pounds overnight.

Thanks everyone, I really hope others on this board could step out and try it when in that type of situation. I'd love to us gain more control and not feel so helpless. Thats a tall order, I know, but wouldn't it be nice if many of us had that empowerment and piece of mind?

I so agree. It's not "all or nothing" and you're not Good or bad. It's just One choice!!

Hey, you're not the Anti-Christ and you're not the Messiah...You are something in-between Called "Human". I tell myself that all the time.

We can be our own best friend, or our own worst enemy.

I choose to be my own "Best Friend" (and with a best friend's perspective) instead of being my own worst enemy (with that constant failure, not good enough perspective).

It takes awhile to get a hold of it, but once you do...It's SOooooooooooo Freeing!

If you think about it... A "True" best friend doesn't blow smoke up your butt. They aren't "Yes" people, but they aren't overly critical either. They love and adore you and only want the best for you. They see you totally different then you see yourself. They constantly "encourage" you. They "dare" you to step outside the box for your own good.

They don't "judge" you if you stumble and fall, they encourage you to "Get up" all over again and give it another "Shot" with more wisdom.

Yep....We need to be our own "Best Friend".
