Debi

I find the easiest way to eat it is off the spoon. I do it every day. It is a solid at a certain temp, but in the summertime at my house it stays liquid. Right around now the weather in SC is starting to warm up enough that it stays liquid overnight. In the winter I store my oils on my stovetop so that every time the oven is on they get liquified. If it is solid in the AM and I am taking my oil first thing I warm it up in the jar in a pot of boiling water. It is best to not use the microwave, but when pressed for time I will occassionally succomb to that. And yes, it takes getting used to in order to get the oil down. I have been doing it for years and sometimes I still get that gag feeling. And I don't like it in my shakes--the chunks don't appeal to me. Good luck!

Ooh-I don't care for the bark either. It was always too greasy for me. And the smell totally turned me off too. And I couldn't get it sweet enough. Too much to fool with, hence the take it straight method for me. LOL

I like to stir mine plain into yogurt (and since my yogurt is already doctored up, it doesn't matter). I cant take it straight because it hurts my throat. Go figure.

I bought some today and sauteed my onions and tuna in a tsp full for dinner...it tasted good. This was in a jar, organic, cold-pressed marked specifically for cooking and frying.

My DH uses coconut oil on his hair daily, not the cooking variety though and our elders swear by it for healthy hair growth...he's trying to introduce our boys to it, but it's a no go for them

today was my first morning to pull with it.. and i did notice my teeth were wighter imediately.. that was awesome..

the only way I can stomach the stuff is if I melt it and drink it like a shot - I really can't stand the taste of it, but it does wonderful things for my skin and my health

Ok, so I finally got mine from netrition and took a teeny bit and melted it in my coffee. Yum! This was about 3 hrs ago, and I feel my stomach starting to clench up (or I guess my intestines.). I had read to start out slow, so I think I only ate about 1 t. Yikes! I'll try to stick with it, but I think that's enough for the day. I need to go out biking, so I think I'll try it as a lipgloss to keep them from getting windburned!

Hi there. My daughter is 18 months, and she occasionally gets mild bumps like that. One thing is just that young tender skin is more vulnerable to the elements, but it could also indicate a very mild allergic reaction to something she's eating, something she's wearing, or laundry detergent. CO might help, though---I'd be curious to know how it goes! I'll try it on my daughter the next time she has a little outbreak.

Hi everyone. I just joined this lovely site! This forum is filled with fun, informative stuff. I love it! I wanted to share how I take my 3.5 tablespoons of VCO per day.

I get it out of the way first thing with my Breakfast:

Make toast.
(I use Food for Life Millet Bread or Food for Life Ezeikel Bread. I keep both for variety. The Millet is soley used for toast but the Ezeikel is incredible for sandwiches or toast.)
Put 3.5 TBSP (or whatever amount you currently use!) in a small little bowl.
Pour over toast very carefully allowing the bread to slowly absorb the oil.
Take a little bit of honey once the oil is looking like its not going to fall over the edges and smear it on top. ( I use Trader Joes Creamed Honey for a soft and lovely flavor)

Make Toast
Measure 3.5 TBSP. in a small little bowl, then add 1 heaping TBSP or more (haven't actually measured this) of Maranatha Organic Creamy & Raw Almond Butter. Mix it to a oily paste and spread on toast. Again, be patient as it will run everywhere if you apply it too fast.

Faux French Toast (for this I have only tried it with the EziekelBread so far)
Toast Bread

Spread on toast, let it just pour all over, messily.
Stack the 2 peices of toast on top of each other.
Squeeze Agave Nectar all over it like you would Maple Syrup. (I use Madhava Agave)
Use knife and fork. I take my time in the morning with this. It's rich. I have it with Mate tea while on the computer in the morning and its really a treat.

Cereal
Take Earths Best Organic Whole Grain Rice Cereal (usually in Baby Section)
Pour some in a bowl, I dont measure this.
Pour in the 3.5 TBSP. oil and mix together.
Squeeze some Agave Nectar in and mix - I dont measure this either.
Pour some milk on top (I use lowfat organic)
The coldness of the milk form the little crystal textures which I love.
Mix and eat.

Those all sound like yummy, carby ways to eat coconut oil. Maybe you thought you were on a different board? Just playin'.

Been making peanut butter cups with it lately. Gives the chocolate a nice snap!

If you melt the CO fist and pour it slooooooooooooowly into your blender while blending, there will be no lumps.

Another thing I need to try (tomorrow, I am writing a note to myself..) is to blend melted CO and some raw egg, and pour it into my coffee with cream. The warm oil will temper the eggs and the eggs will keep the oil from floating on top (supposedly..)

hmmmmm a protein filled cup of coffee with CO, breakfast on the go!
