I have been asked about what I am "actually doing" and if I am on diet pills or simply not eating. I would never take a diet pill, I think that's so dangerous. What I love about Atkins is that I finally stopped starving myself and lost weight!

I'm shocked that people are eating bread and pasta while "on induction" because it's the weekend! I have no problem with them doing whatever they want, it's up to them. What bothers me is that they act like I'm a freak for doing it by the book.

Unfortunately, being the one in my circle who did it by the book and got results, has not made me their role model, they are just annoyed by my results. I am constantly being told that I "don't eat" when I turn down dessert, even after a big meal!

Most of the time they are very unhelpful to me in my WOE. Of all the people I know, they are the least helpful, which I think is sad. I think they would be surprised if I told them they aren't on Atkins at all, and that they actually hinder me. I wonder if this is pretty typical for so many people to say they are on it and then not even try to follow DANDR? Do most of you know people like this who say are "on Atkins" and then make a completely mockery of it, because I shudder to think what a bad name they are giving it when it really DOES work! I just had to vent today....it was a rough weekend.

"Doing Atkins" and then taking the weekends off. How common is this?
Probably very common. The question is, hows that workin long term?

I'am guilty. The last few weekends I have not been faithful, because had my dd and mom's b-day party. My dh took me to the ballet one weekend and out to eat and a concert the next. This weekend I'am going to a basketball game downtown (the tickets come w a free buffet) and saturday to another concert and meeting my parents in downtown to eat another fancy resturant I have not done this the whole time just this last month. I read the book and I knew when I was doing it I was not going to lose,I did maintain. But I'am back on the wagon full time, this weekend will be hard w/the game and the concert, but I have had enough cheating,I'am ready to see the scale go down again.

Absolutely! I'm so grateful for the LC support at LCFriends!

Real-life support can vary so. It's wonderful to know that I can come here to find support and inspiration from LCFriends who stick with their plan and are rewarded with inches lost and pounds or ounces disappearing forever on scale!

I am still so hefty that I do not say "Atkins" when I am asked what I do. I say that I avoid white food like sugar, flour, milk (my main passion) and starchy root vegies. I aim for mostly fish and egg, as I am not a carnivore and often have difficulty eating plain meat. A mouthful of meat can nearly choke me as I chew chew chew and contemplate the beast that gave up its life so that I might have some protein. Better for me to eat fish and eggs.
