I made mine this morning with:
2 eggs
heavy cream
dash of splenda and cinnamon
2 scoops of banana flavored whey powder
topped off with crushed ice
blended in the magic bullet

Holy moly, it was like a frothy banana milkshake. I got half way through it and started to feel really full and somewhat nauseus. I froze the rest for a snack tonight. However, its noon and I am not hungry one bit. So, I would say it works in the appetite suppresant department. As far as weight loss, too soon to tell but it was definately yummy!

I would like to try egg cremes but I am afraid of samonella poisoning. Can they be made with Egg Beaters or Just Whites? Both of those commerical brands are pasteurized.

I finally tried this egg cream this morning. I used 2 eggs, 5 ounces of sugar free chai, 1 tablespoon of heavy cream, one shot of vanilla da vinci's, and one scoop of vanilla Jay Robb whey protein. It was so so so delicious! It tasted exactly like egg nog. I made mine cold, on ice. Only problem is, I had mine at 7 and I was hungry by 10. So, it did not fill me up at all but it was yummy. I will definitely have these for breakfast everyday. I usually have a protein shake but these are even better! I just wish it would fill me up like some of you are reporting. Nothing seems to fill me up these days.

I tried the eggcream with coconut milk. I was pretty good. Though I think I like it better with heavy cream.

Branded - try adding a tablespoon of coconut oil. For me, it's the coconut oil that fills me up. If I forget the coconut oil, I'm hungry soon after eating it.

Fluffybear - yes, you can use egg beaters but seriously, your chances of salmonella are about a gagillion to one. Really, it's incredibly rare. If you're concerned, buy organic eggs but truly, even with conventional eggs your chances are so very, very slim.

Evansc - I agree. I tried it with coconut cream and I didn't care for it at all. It made me a little nauseous.

I made mine last night to have for this morning (I wanted it to be cold). I used 3 eggs, coffee, 2 TBSP heavy cream, 1 TBSP Da Vinci Raspberry, and some drops of Stevia. It was pretty good. I think next time I will try it warm.

And funny, it was like I missed my fried eggs cuz that is what I had for lunch.

WildFlowerMama,
I did read that the coconut oil is emulsified by the egg (so no chunks, thank goodness), but when to add it in? I do not have any kind of magic bullet or anything, I just used my hand mixer to mix everything and I like mine cold, so would I add the coconut oil to the egg and let it do its thing before adding everything else or does it really even matter? I think I will try that tomorrow and see if it helps. I tried adding coconut oil to my tea and I have tried the coconut bark but neither filled me up so we will see. I feel like I am a never ending pit and never feel full. Very frustrating. Thanks!

This sounds really good but you add coffee to this one? I love banana shakes so I am just wondering how much cream etc.. you use?

I had a coffee egg cream this morning, made with two eggs which was probably two much for me. One would have filled me up. For lunch, I put an egg in the magic bullet cup with some half and half, blended until frothy, and then poured in half of a diet cream soda. Delicious! Like a cream soda float, only it filled me up.

Not wildflowermama, but I put all the ingredients in my blender (except the melted coconut oil) and mix them for a few seconds, then I take the top insert out and slowly pour the oil in and continue mixing for a little longer.

Haven't time to read the whole thread and see if this has been addressed yet, but the protein in eggs is in the whites, so I'd say the whites have everything an egg has to offer, except the fat (lecithin) which is in the yolk. . .

I put everything in together. The egg yolk is going to emulsify the coconut oil whether you add your oil in first or last.

This isn't true. There is plenty of protein in the yolk. They whites do not nearly have the nutrition the yolks do so to say the "whites have everything an egg has to offer" is quite incorrect.

Hmmmm, that article says NOT to consume raw egg whites, only the yolks, and that whites should be cooked. Anyone have more info on that, or something to back that up?

I don't think that it's dangerous to eat them uncooked, the way I've read that is that it may interfere with vitamin absorption. Not really a concern if you're getting your vitamins elsewhere.

Personally, I prefer to use the yolk only.

Thanks for posting this...I know the risk is small, but there's still that concern in the back of my mind. I wash mine, too.

You know, in addition to being nutritious, these egg creams are very economic!

My nutritionist says to wash the egg shells in peroxide and then there won't be a problem.

There are also eggs that are pasteurized in the shell that are range free etc., although when I looked for them last night the store was out.

I think the idea that Eggbeaters is pasteurized and safer than a real egg is sort of an urban legend, just a rumor that has been passed around a lot. This is from the Eggbeaters website:

Do you have to be careful handling and cooking Egg Beaters?
Egg Beaters are real eggs, so all the safety precautions you would follow with shell eggs apply when handling or cooking with our product. When working with Egg Beaters, be sure to wash your hands, any kitchen surfaces, and cooking utensils with antibacterial soap and water to clean up any spills.
