So I see that Netrition sells Natural Calm. Here is what Netrition says (but check out the website too.. I cant post the link):

Natural Calm is a 100 percent natural watersoluble magnesium powder of the highest quality. Natural Calm handles excess calcium in the body and gradually dissolves calcium deposits, giving a new lease on life and instant relief to many symptoms of magnesium depletion. Don’t let stress ruin your day. Be calm. Get Natural Calm today!

After oxygen, water and basic food, magnesium may be the most important element your body needs. Magnesium
activates over 350 different bodily processes, including digestion, energy production, muscle function, bone formation, creation of new cells, activation of B vitamins, relaxation of muscles, as well as assisting in the functions of the heart, kidneys, adrenals, brain and nervous system. Lack of sufficient available magnesium in the body can interfere with any or all of these processes. Magnesium depletion can be caused by such things as mental stress, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, tobacco, drugs of all types, high perspiration, low thyroid function, diabetes, chronic pain, diuretics, and a high-carbohydrate, high-sodium or high-calcium diet.

DO YOU HAVE A HEALTHY MAGNESIUM LEVEL? Ninety to ninety-five percent of the population are below healthy magnesium levels, including many who already use magnesium. Why? First, the amount of magnesium required by the body is greater than people think. Second, most magnesium capsules and tablets are not completely absorbed by the body.

SYMPTOMS OF MAGNESIUM DEPLETION

Millions suffer daily from the following symptoms of magnesium depletion:
• Low Energy
• Fatigue
• PMS and Hormonal Imbalances
• Inability to Sleep
• Body Tension
• Headaches
• Muscle Tension
• Backaches
• Calcification of Organs
• Weakening Bones
• Heart-Related Difficulties
• Anxiousness
• Nervousness
• Irritability, etc.

CALCIUM NEEDS MAGNESIUM
Calcium needs magnesium in order to assimilate into the body. However, when too much calcium is consumed, it will pull magnesium out of body parts. So calcium can actually rob the body of magnesium. Drinking pasteurized milk (which is about 8 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium), for example, will deplete the body’s magnesium.

ENERGY AND FATIGUE
Magnesium is vital for the maintenance of adequate energy reserves. When insufficient magnesium is available, cellular energy production is inhibited, and the eventual outcome is fatigue and weakness. Magnesium is also essential for regulating potassium levels and the functioning of the adrenal glands—both important for maintaining high energy levels.

SLEEP
Inability to sleep, muscle soreness, tension and feeling uncomfortable upon rising are caused by a lack of minerals—particularly magnesium. All these conditions are greatly helped by taking magnesium.

STRESS
Without sufficient magnesium the nerve cells cannot give or receive messages and become excitable and reactive. Feeling nervous, irritable and unable to relax are signs of needing magnesium.

MUSCLE DISORDERS
Muscle spasms, cramps, jerks, tics and hiccups are all caused by a lack of magnesium. Take sufficient Natural Calm and they will disappear.

PMS AND WEAKENING BONES
PMS and hormonal imbalances are greatly exaggerated and worsened by a low magnesium level. Too much calcium will worsen PMS considerably because it throws off the mineral balance. Instant relief can be obtained by drinking Natural Calm. Magnesium is crucial to increasing bone mass, as it is magnesium which allows calcium to assimilate. One should accompany their calcium with the Natural Calm necessary for its absorption.

THE NATURAL CALM SOLUTION
The solution to restoring a healthy magnesium level is Natural Calm. Developed by leading nutritional researcher Peter Gillham, Natural Calm features a proprietary process that provides the most absorbable, effective, fast-acting magnesium available anywhere.

Natural Calm Plus Calcium utilizes the same advanced technology as Natural Calm. The minerals in this product go into total solution in their ionic form and are readily available to the body. Water acts as a carrier and transports the minerals quickly to where the body needs them.

Natural Calm Plus Calcium contains added nutrients to ensure that the calcium is absorbed and utilized. It is the most advanced formula available for the assimilation of calcium. This is particularly important, as calcium will not be efficiently assimilated by the body without these other nutrients being present.

In addition to calcium, Natural Calm Plus Calcium contains magnesium (Natural Calm), vitamin C, vitamin D and boron, which assist in the assimilation, utilization and distribution of the calcium within the body. This results in the creation of strong bones, joints and connective tissue, and a healthy, active immune system to protect against invasion of bacteria, viruses and other uninvited guests. Natural Calm Plus Calcium also includes potassium, which is vital for a healthy heart, nerve function and energy production.

This product is ideal for men and women of all ages and in particular for seniors, as it helps in the reversal of bone loss, joint, cartilage and connective tissue deterioration, and malfunction of the various glands and their emission of hormones.

Natural Calm Plus Calcium is formulated with 3 parts magnesium to 2 parts calcium, which will prevent a surplus of calcium robbing the body's vital magnesium supply and avoid the symptoms associated with depleted levels of magnesium.

I have never ever in my life gone to the bathroom everyday, I've never worried about my colon being cleansed, i didn't know until recently it wasn;t "normal" not to go to the bathroom everyday.. i've never ever had a problem using the bathroom i was constipated once when i was 5 and i really don't think i was constipated thne just too scared too push hard lol... being on atkins is the only time i've felt stuffed up and had to force myself to go, it's from consuming too much fiber, boy that fiber sits in me like a brick and has me feeling horrible... fiber does the opposite to me for some reason it clogs me instead of makes me go

I've taken milk of magnesia 3 times on atkins and feel terrible for doing it because i've never had bowel problems before, but why is milk of magnesia never mentioned does it have carbs?

^^Isn't Milk of Magnesia just magensium? That's a pretty common suggestion. However, Milk of Magnesia has sugar in the ingredients so be careful.

Active Ingredients: (in each 5ml tsp): Magnesium Hydroxide (400 mg) (Saline laxative/antacid)

Inactive Ingredients: Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, Citric Acid, D&C Red 28, Flavor, Glycerin, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hypochlorite, Sucrose, Water, Xanthan Gum

I haven't read this whole thread so maybe this has been suggested already, but for years I have had very severe problems in this area...resulting from laxative abuse back in the day.

I have tried everything I knew to be "right" to correct this problem, and I have never found anything to work long term for me.

A couple weeks ago I started the Dual Action Colon Cleanse, and it works! Nothing else has ever worked for me, but this does.

I do know that its not a long term solution, though I hope it does the job of cleansing and getting my body back on track, then once I have finished the program I am going to follow AllieCat's advise about using the Natural Calm magnesium along with probiotics.

Hi Allie,

Could you tell me please what this is, how it works, and where you got it? I'm thinking I may need more than this round of Dual Action to get my body acclimated to ummm...doing what its supposed to without help, and I refuse the route of laxatives anymore!

I bought some inexpensive psyllium husk capsules and I take 2-3 with meals. Never have a problem. I'll admit that LC makes me feel a little "more solid" than usual... but no worries.

This thread being bumped up is right on time for me.

I started induction last Monday(5/26) and guess when my last bm was? Yup, 5/26.

I've always had problems with being regular and have tried everything. Like a few others, fiber supplements just back me up. It seems to be a problem with my intestines being sluggish so I actually need something to make them move as opposed to something to bulk up the stools or make them softer. Doesn't matter how big or soft they are if my intestines aren't moving everything along.

I might try some of the Digestive Advantage and/or slippery elm(crossing fingers). I've tried Natural Calm and besides making feel like I'm gonna throw up as soon as it hits my stomach(not from the taste, it tastes pretty good) it turns some of what's in me to liquid but the rest of the already formed stools don't move. I've also tried probiotics(JarroDophilus) and nothing. Extra oils(olive & coconut). I eat at least 2 big salads a day and drink at least 100oz of water daily. All of the supplements I "tried" were used for at least 2 months. I know most natural products take more time to work so I make sure to give them their due time. But none of them actually helped me.

I've also been exercising every day(Tae Bo Advanced = LOTS of movement and kicks) plus walk most places since I don't have a car.

I'm hoping we all find the "relief" we're looking for.

I just want to chime in about Natural Calm, it is the most wonderful thing I have added to my regimen. I use it to help with sleep problems, the regularity that it gives me is an added bonus. I sleep like a baby now, my whole family loves this.

Naw I've been able to ease up off it. Right doing 1 jarrodophilus and 1 digestive advantage for IBS in the evening, and 1 jarrodophilus in the morning.

Colon Cleanses are suppose to rid your liver of toxins so your liver doesnt go into overload. I heard Valerie Saxon on tv talk about it she is a dr. of naturapathy (sp) She says we may have some kind of bugggs or worms or something and they get forced out in a colon cleanse. I wanted to do it but those kits cost more money than I wanted to pay.

Well, I "accidentally" found a really good colon cleanser, this weekend. We were camping, and Saturday evening, DH made me a "mock margarita". He used the juice of 4 lemons and 4 limes. I added a little stevia to it (it was sour without it). He salted the rim of a glass, and poured the concoction on the rocks. It was SOOOOO good...just like a margarita.

Anyway, about 4 to 5 hours later, I woke up and had to go to the bathroom...RIGHT THEN...KWIM? Since we were camping, I jumped in the car and drove to the bath house. I didn't think I was going to make it, but I did.

And, that was the end of it. No after effects...no post-cramping. Yesterday, my stomach felt so flat and unbloated, which is very surprising, considering last night I started my TOM. I was shocked, because there was no cramping or bloating.

I'm convinced that straight lemon/lime juice is a natural colon cleanser. There is such a thing as a Vitamin-C colon flush. I did it once...you take something like 8,000mg of Vitamin-C. I'm wondering if this is the "natural version" of that.

FYI my hubby has suffered from Encopresis his entire life, as a child it was incredibly painful and humilating at times (compacted stools with anal leakage). His mother took him to Doctor after specialist after Doctor and tried all the metamucils and drugs she was given. They might help for awhile, but never for long.

As a young adult he pretty much resigned himself to going #2 once a week, if he went twice a week it was something to be celebrated. You can only imagine the pain and the anguish he went through when he DID go! (my sister calls him the toilet plunger king). Also there would be days when he would feel the urge to go very badly, but if he couldn't go RIGHT NOW... it could end up being days again before he could.

Since upping his fat intake (saturated) and removing all forms of pasta, potatoes and MOST of the bread (2 slices/day as opposed to 4) and NO sugar, low carb foods with lots of greens, he has been......

drum roll please..............

GOING EVERY SINGLE DAY!

This is almost 3 weeks for him... and he is OFF the high fiber/bran wagon FOREVER!

this is huge for me, because my 6year old DD appeared to be going down the same path... and she is now much more regular that she ever was.

WOOT! Low carb is great! And to think of all the fiber (grains) my MIL tried to pack into DH all of his life, it wasn't doing an iota of good

PS: Xylitol used sparingly makes things move even faster, but not as fast as the RS SF chocolates
