My goal for this year:
Squat down without groaning and get back up easily. Stick to Atkins '72 Get below my 'snore weight' 134. Lose enough weight so I can exercise and build up my stamina and get some muscle tone back. |

Well I restarted only a week ago but my short term goal in 2008 is to lose 40 pounds by my birthday on November 22nd. We usually go to Texas for Thanksgiving and I'd love to surprise everyone.
Good luck to everyone with their 2008 goals! Hugs! |

Hi, I am new to this, but after reading the latest report that said low carb/Atkins was not harmful as the experts feared, I have decided that it is a way of life that I can live. I eat a lot of meat. We usually butcher a steer every fall and a couple of hogs through out the year, so meat is no problem for me. My weakness are sweets: ice cream, pies, candy, etc. I rarely eat pasta or bread, so I will not miss those items. After reading several posts, I figure it will take me at least 10 months to reach my goal and will probably be something more like 13 months. But I am ready to begin. Since I am starting so late in the year, my goal for the rest of year is to lose either 30 lbs or to fit comfortable into a size 10, I am currently in a tight, very tight, 14.

My goal is ME!!
Hey ya'll I just joined today and I'm really excited. I'm starting my LC lifestyle tomorrow, I have to finish shopping tonight after work. I use to weigh 181 lbs before I was Deployed to Qatar just south of Iraq, while I was there I lost 38 lbs but since i have come back to the states i've gained it all back and then some. I now weigh 200 lbs and I'm 5'9". I feel unhealthy and sluggish. If anyone has snack idaes or meals or tips please let me know. I hopefully will post weekly updates I hope all of you do great and talk to you soon.

Hi! I'm new here and thought this looked like a good thread to start with. I'm not on a low carb diet, but I count calories and I found this board while searching for info on flax and coconut oil. You all looked so cool, I thought I'd join!
I want to lose 30 pounds by Christmas and continue to avoid having high cholesterol and diabetes. Those are my 2008 goals. |

In 2006, I lost 17 lbs thanks to the assistance of sparkpeople.com, and using the "Oprah's challenge" approach to eating (low carb). I regained that weight in 2007, with T2 and insulin resistance taking its toll. I'm now on Byetta, and have lost 9.5 lbs in the last 6 weeks. By Dec. 31, 2008, I'd like to lose another 20 lbs. If I can lose another 10 in 2009, I will have lost the 40 lbs my endocrinologist has recommended I lose.
I love to bake, and need suggestions on what you all consider "pantry essentials" for low carb baking/cooking. Thanks to all! I'm happy to have found this site!

Ideally, I would like to get to 235 by the end of this year, and 220 by my birthday (april 7th) in 2009. But I am have had many struggles in the past, so we shall see.
Realistically my goal is to stay on plan 95% of the time! And do a strict "real" induction for a few days following the 5% of the time that I am not on plan. |

My goals are to find the balance between all the nutritional approaches swimming around in my head, implement the concept that food is medicine so if you don't need a medicine you don't take it even if it someone else benefits from it, stick to working out five times a week, and lose 40 lbs. by the end of the year.

Heck, I'd like to just weigh 199 again sometime in my life
![]() Seriously, at this point, I would just like to lose maybe 20 pounds by the end of the year. I think that might be realistic at this point. |

Goal is to simply maintain
I'd love to see 118 again, but I'd be happy at 122 and MAINTAIN. I'm a fairly short woman so this is actually reasonable for me. My problem is the yo yo-ing. I gain 10 pounds, take it back off; gain 12 pounds, take it back off; gain 15 pounds; now I have to take it back off again.
I need to make the life changes to maintain a consistent healthy weight and put the yo yo away! |

I would like to be 200 pounds, or a size 14 by Christmas. Whichever happens first I'd be happy. I'm focusing less on numbers and more on the reconstruction of my figure. I just want to look and feel healthier.

I would LOVE to be 30 lbs. lighter by Christmas!!!! That would be approx. 10% loss of my current weight. I think I would start to show some of a loss at that point.
