Thanks!!! I sure hope so but I've been on and off of low carb for a few years now and I can't seem to stick to it for some reason!!! I have never lost more than 20 or 30 pounds and then gained it all back!!! So maybe this time I will be able to do this!! Wish me luck!!! LOL.....

Try this Keto Diet: Do Low Carb (20-30 carbs) for 6 days per week (high fat/high protein/decent fiber) Then ONE day a week, allow yourself high carb/high calorie (very low fat/don't worry about protein/fiber) It helps trick your mind AND your body. It's easier to stay on track on those 6 days knowing that there is 1 day that you can actually look forward to enjoying some of those carbs that you crave. And the "cheat day" (called a refeed) actually helps keep your metabolism from slowing down due to the carb restriction. You MUST exercise on the Keto plan or you may gain instead of lose. And you must get right back on track after the "cheat day". Enjoy your carb cravings EARLY on cheat day; finish w/ complex carbs. (this should help reduce cravings the following "back on track" LC day) XO, HB

I would like to lose 45 pounds. I lost 60 pounds before on Atkins but that was too light for me. I would like to get down to 185! This time I am doing my own variation of Atkins and eating much healthier.

Newb!!
Hello! I've been lurking on this site for just a bit now, and wanted to introduce myself. Hopefully this is an adequate place to do so!
My weight loss goal is to lose 30 lbs this summer and hopefully make it down to 130lbs (or farther, if I think it's necessary -- I haven't been anywhere near that number in my adult life, so I don't know what I'll look like!) by Christmas Eve. I also have a goal of being able to wear a bikini on the beach next summer! |

Well I'm sure I'll be shot for saying this - but my goal is to GAIN weight. As I've posted in some other threads, by eating low carb - it is the ONLY way this can really be accomplished WITHOUT gaining fat.
More muscle = more fat burning. Again, I know it's not for everyone but I'm trying to shake things up a bit & make people realize that our society is WAY too focused on what we weigh. Look at Gabby Reese (I went to school with her). She's 160 pounds! Most people would consider that obese for a woman. One problem - she's frigging as tall as I am! She's also all muscle. Weight isn't near as important to me as what I look like in the mirror, how my clothes fit & what that body fat indicator is telling me. Anyway, the title of this thread is "what are our 2008 goals" so mine are to stay around 275 - or possibly even gain a bit while lowering my body fat percent. Maybe I should start a thread "what are your 2008 body fat percent goals". Good luck to everyone in your quest to attain your goals. You can doo eet!! (in a Waterboy voice)...

Hey everybody!
I'm fat. My goal is not to be. My scale says zero - went all the way around to zero! My ultimate goal is to have it stop 2/3 the way around. I haven't been under 200 in 20 years. 3 years ago (the last time I was sick enough about my weight to stick to really do something about it) my lovely wife and I went on Atkins. We stayed more or less on induction for 3 months, 20 or less carbs a day for the first month and a half and 30 or less the rest of the time. I lost 60+ pounds and my wife hit her goal weight and then never wanted to eat meat and or cheese again! Lol. It's time to really do it this time. I joined a gym, and I actually go a few times a week. Yesterday I officially started LCing again, and now I'm going to step it up at the gym. I can do 30 minutes on the elliptical - usually using one of the upsy downsy programs on it. They have one of those 20 machine circuits where you work a minute on each thing. I can do that ok. I need some recipes. All I remember eating before was steak, eggs, bacon, salad, veggies, and the occasional macadamia nut. I know I was much more varied than that, but those are seared in my memory...lol. I never ate bars, shakes (lactose intolerant) or "substitutes." If I'm cutting out bread, why would I eat something that looks like bread? No diet sodas either. why poison myself? (tastes like poison, I wont drink it!) I think Mt Dew is why I'm fat. I was drinking too much one to two 24 oz bottles a day for the last couple months. Now I'm only on water. Good riddance. I could really use some encouragement and direction from people who've gone from big to small and stayed there. I come from a "large" family, and not in numbers. Starts with fat genes and ends with fat jeans. (48" waist, and I'm mad at Walmart for putting the fat people's clothes on the bottom shelf where they know we can't bend down to reach them!) My mom ended up in the hospital 450+ dying of cancer, and I don't want to end up there. Over the last 30 years she locked herself into her own prison and could barley hobble to the bathroom. She didn't leave the house and never went to the doctor, and when she got sick with pneumonia, it took 5 beefy paramedics to get her into the ambulance. she's better now, praise Jesus. - she lost 150+ pounds in the hospital and Chemo and prayers worked - upgraded from "stage 4 terminal" to "hmmm, you could live another 10 years!" yay! They couldn't operate, because she was too big, and she didn't fit in the radiation machine! My sister had a gastric bypass a few years ago, big scar, lots of pain, 8 weeks recovery...she's the only thin one of the family. My wife's father had a similar surgery, but with hella complications. I ain't going there. I ramble... Lol! Help! |

Berighteous- I'm older (hence, wiser) and I've never kept off my losses so take it for what its worth: THIS TIME, WE HAVE TO DO IT FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. Not using low carb as a DIET! You know it works, you've done it. I'm never going back to sugar, flour, pasta, etc. Yuck, let's fatten up for slaughter. Forget about fat/skinny relatives. Forget about genes. Unless you admit it's you, yourself, and keep clean with your food and beverage and excersise sources, you will be fat the rest of your life.
LIVE IT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, CUZ IT DOES. ![]() Sorry for yelling, but you needed a kick in the the butt and you asked for suppport. As far as recipes go, Linda has the best, as well as the recipes on this site. Don't eat it if you don't know it's good for you. Best wishes for success.

That's my wife's birthday!
Thanx skeopple! I've been doing great so far. Went into ketosis by day 2, by the strips. I'm feeling good, no induction flu, although I had a slight headache and was a little foggy a few days ago. I've done 6 good workouts at the gym, and I'm down 7 pounds since I last posted here. I started a weight loss log, and even posted a before picture. (eek!) Good start week. 7 pounds is awesome, Michael! Glad you didn't get the Atkins 'flu'. It makes it harder at first, but once that's gone, it's a good reminder of sugar and starch withdraw and you don't wish to do it again.
KUTGW Here's Linda's website: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home She even has the recipes marked for induction. Last edited by skeopple : 06-10-2008 at 08:51 AM. |

I love the beginning of induction when every day when you check the scale it moves. Too bad it'll slow down soon. lol. I did my normal gym workout, + pushing my wife around for 5 MILES today in 90 degree heat. Had errands to do. Drank a gallon of water, and I still felt like a raisin when I got home. Ketostick was very dark and I'm well into my 2nd gallon today.
I just noticed I was mindlessly munching on pork rinds. They feel like nothing, but if I hadn't stopped myself I could have easily eaten a whole bag of 970 calories of fried pork fat! I think I got through 1/3 of the bag just sitting here typing and mindlessly munching. Note to self: NEVER bring the bag into my office again. |

Newbie here...
Just started on Atkins induction yesterday, and my goal for 2008 is to reach my goal weight of 110.
Recently had surgery, so I'm chomping at the bit to get well, and be able to expend some serious energy on my elliptical... Good luck to you all in reaching your goals! ![]() |

By the end of the year, I want to be in the maintenance phase of Atkins. That means I'll have to hit my goal weight of 127. It's a lot of weight to lose by the end of the year. In order to do this, I have to go to boxing classes 3 times a week. I can't slack, I HAVE TO GO 3 TIMES A WEEK! And I walk every day on my lunch break. No skipping any days. The only thing I'm wondering about is if I start to build a lot of muscle from the boxing, my weight just might not get to 127. But for my height, I'm about 5'2", that's not even that low.
Good luck everyone!!!!!

My goal is going to be getting a flatter stomach. After having a hysterectomy and gall bladder surgery all within 8 weeks, my tummy is looking a little on the flabby side. I am hoping to tone up and reach my goal weight by Thanksgiving.

My goal is to get to a size 10. Right now I am wearing loose 16's and some slightly snug14's. I am getting married September 6 2008 and I want to be a size 12 by then. Another goal is to conquer sugar. I want to rule it - it has ruled over me for far too long.
