Hi Aprila! It looks like we started the same day, have made the same progress and have about the same goals! I think you might be interested in another thread that's for people trying to lose 100 lbs in 2008... it looks like you're well on your way! Hi everyone! I am coming out of lurk mode to post. This is my 3rd or 4th returning trip to the low carb way. I haven't had a great track record of sticking with it but now faced with possible surgery I want to give it my all, I would prefer to do it non surgically if I can and I really want to be here for my girls and to see my grandkids when that time comes. Sorry didn't mean to ramble on... the goal... 100 pounds this year. It wont put me to goal but it will be a great start. Hope to find and give encouragement here and that by coming out of lurk mode I will hold myself more accountable.

My weight loss goal for 2008 is to aim for 2.5 pounds loss per week. I haven't added up what that will be.... how many weeks left in this year? LOL But looking at the total amount I need to lose is so scary! I figured I need to make little attainable goals and check the scales once a week. If I had done that faithfully before, I never would have gained back all the weight I lost.

I am 289 today. Would like to be 189 by Christmas. BUT, if I only get down to 225, I will consider the change huge and not berate myself for not hitting the century mark.

Well, I started this journey at 306 and want to be at 200 by Christmas. I have to break it down to smaller goals and they add up to that total. I am not going to be upset if I miss it as long as I have a continual downward trend and keep getting healthier. I am so ready to be half my starting size. Wow that sounds strange! Anyways, the breakdown of my mini goals is below:

We go to the Circus - 2/9/08 - goal weight = 280.

We go to the beach - 3/14/08 - goal weight = 270.

Mother's Day - goal weight = 255

July 4th - goal weight = 245

Labor Day - goal weight = 230

Halloween - goal weight = 215

My birthday - November 7 - Goal weight = 212

Thanksgiving - goal weight = 205

Christmas - goal weight = 200

My stats are 306/286/145 (ultimate goal) / 200 by Christmas 2008

I'm Re-inducting today and I weigh 236. My 2008 goal is to lose 10 pounds per month, and I hope that is realistic since as the weight starts to come off, I normally stall. I haven't been below 200 pounds in 10 years. I've gotten to 201 several times but then I self-destruct. For now I'd be happy to be 175 pounds, but in my heart I'd prefer to be 150. I like the idea of mini-goals since losing 86 pounds seems overwhelming.

March 1st goal weight = 226

April 1st goal weight = 216

May 1st goal weight = 206

June 1st goal weight = 196

July 1st goal weight = 186

August 1st goal weight = 176

September 1st goal weight = 166

October 1st goal weight = 156

November 1st goal weight = 150
November 25th is my 45th birthday. I would be thrilled to be 150 pounds.

My 2008 goals:
1.Lost about 44 lbs and get to goal weight of 150.
2.Exercise 30 minutes or more 5 or 6 times a week.
3.Get rid of all my fat clothes and buy new wardrobe.
4.Get diabetes, blood pressure and cholest under control and get off all meds
5.Keep on plan. Make this my way of life.
6.Never regain this weight EVER again.
7.Be happy with the body that God has given me.
8.Reach goal by October 2008 because:
1.Its my birthday
2.DH has a one man art show.
9.Try to elimate stress from my life.
10.Be happy, content and count the blessing that I have.

My 2008 goals are:

To lose 100 pounds by my one year Atkinsversary - 3/1 - only 10 pounds to go!!! That will put me at 204, next goal: ONEDERLAND!!

I already met one goal which was to be able to walk into any clothing store and find something on the rack, rather than only being able to shop at a few "plus" stores. Related goal: Pay off and CUT UP my Lane Bryant credit card!! WOO HOO!!

I WILL be at my ideal weight by the end of 2008, I just don't know what that weight is yet.

Set small goals and rejoice in achieving each one. Good luck to everyone!!!!!

After reading all the posts I too want to set my goals. Something I really don't do. I want to lose 8-10 lbs per month. I would love to be below 200 lbs. by Oct. That just sounds so doable. We will see. Hope everyone has a swell day.

My goals are to get down to a size 8 by the end of the year. I think that is doable. I am currently in a size 12. I also want to start exercising everyday. I am soooo bad about sticking to a exercise program. Other than that, to be happy and healthy this year and set a good example for my family.

I just stumbled upon this website although I've been low carbing since 1997. I fell off the bandwagon due to losing my older sister and then having 3 kids. However my youngest is now 2 and I no longer have the "baby weight" excuse. I started off 2008 at 185; now I'm 165 and my goal is to reach 130 by my 38th birthday in June. The icing on the cake would be to reach 120 by the end of the year.

2007 was the worst year of my life. Serious illness, constant pain, and weight gain as a result of meds and inactivity. A few years ago I lost 80 lbs. on this WOE, ran a marathon, and even competed in an Ironman triathlon (swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, run 26.2 miles). In 2007 all of that progress was lost, and I gained all of the weight back.

So here I am, back at square 1! I'm thrilled to be back on this WOE, and thrilled to be able to get get physically active again. 2008 will be a great year!

So here are the goals:

Within 3 months: lose 25 lbs
Within 6 months: lose 40 lbs and race in a sprint distance triathlon
Within 8 months: lose 55 lbs and race in an Olympic distance triathlon
By December 31, 2008: lose 80 lbs
April 2009: Compete in Ironman Arizona

Hi everyone, I'm new

My goal for 2008 is to drop 30-35lbs and about 9 inches off my waist. I hope to keep up with my work-out plan for at least 4 days out of each week.

Generally, I plan to start dressing better, to fit the body I have now, until I reach my goal weight. I've already started doing that and I feel sooo much better already

I have lurked on this web site for years - just now posting. This will be the 3rd time I have gone on Atkins. I can usually loose 30-40 lbs. - but then I fall off the wagon and gain it all back. This time, I am in it for good. My goal is to at least get under 200lbs. - ideally to get as low as 190. In my past efforts I have always made it to 201 or 200, but can never seem to hold out until I reach my goal. I want to loose the weight so I can not only get healthy, but so I can be a good role model to my children. Plus - I don't want them to have a FAT mom. Anyway - I am glad I am here.
