will this knock me out of ketosis?
This a.m. I had bran cereal, just really wanted a substantial amount of fibre from food not pills.
Kellogs All-Bran with Extra fibre 1/3 cup serving 15 grams carbohydrates 10 grams fibre 0 grams sugar I checked out the glycemic load and it is a 47. The 3rd ingredient is wheat flour and the 7th (below salt and baking soda)is high fructose corn syrup. I used the Hoods Low carb milk which only added 1 carb. If this were to throw me out of Ketosis how soon would it happen? I checked with strips about an hour after I ate it, no change. Then again about 8 hours later color was lighter but still in ketosis. thanks for any info. |

That high fructose corn syrup is poison. Try fresh foods for your fiber. You will have greater success in the long run. |

I used to eat that cereal a couple days a week and it never caused me any problems. Fawn is right, the HFCS is a bummer..but in such a small amount... hey if it keeps you happy and "moving", i say go for it!

It also depends on a person's metabolism and exercise/activity as you will burn off the carbs you do take in. If you eat it, don't get cravings and continue to lose, I'd keep doing it. If you stall, then stop eating it, and then start losing again, well then you tried.
The way to ensure LC success is to not feel deprived. |

I eat a fudge bar now and then--it doesn't knock me out with 6 carbs. I think it all depends on your own level and if you're under that limit and don't have weird reactions or sensitivites, it shouldn't knock you out.
