i have had a major yeast epidemic due to a sinus infection plus plus two surgeries in two months. i've had thrush twice and and an infection down there, i've also been wondering if these itchy rashes had anything to do with it. but i bought the enzymatic pearls at walmart and am taking 3 twice a day along with adding coconut oil into my diet and things are definitely moving a LOT better now. i will probably take 6 a day until this pack is gone and then start taking one a day. i do still have my itchy rashes all over my arms and chest... maybe it's just allergies, i'm not sure. but thanks for all the great info, i don't post in here, but now i check in everyday to see whats going on in the main room.

I love this thread because we all as human beings have to 'go' and it's a big issue when we can't . . . it's good to talk about it. . .

Cary, that's good info thanks.

There must be a connection with yeast and sinus issues. I used to have them all the time and was taking antibiotics left and right. Although I haven't had one in years, I still have minor problems along with other yeast symptoms. The odd thing is I hardly ever get an infection 'down south' but I do have the itchy skin and psoriasis that flairs up on my scalp from time to time. Years ago a lady told me that I had yeast in my nails because they were weak and brittle. Just had a bout of fungus on my thumb nails that I finally got under control by using tea tree oil and over the counter liquid polish (was pissed when I showed the Dr and he didn't think it was yeast related and didn't prescribe anything). I am making my shopping list to get the items that have been listed on this thread.

Yes Cutie that is why I even made the thread in the first place. Because I KNOW I am not the only one who have/(or rather HAD) a messed up digestive tract from all that nonsense. I SO HOPE it helps them too-- I really do. There's hope!

Allie - Thanks Allie -
I have been in "denial" about this for years. For years - (I'd hate to even tell anyone how long) - but I mean - - over 20 yrs. I've been taking laxative every single night to "go to the bathroom". A few nights I might have skipped - but then I don't go. . . And, I quit going with them and have to "change brands" to start going again - - because after awhile they all stop working.

I stayed bloated feeling (but I am overweight too) - - One big complaint is - I can just eat a little - - but feel bloated in my stomach sometimes. . .

When a laxative DOES work - - I never feel good & empty. . Lately nothing works good.
Lately I've just gone to Stool Softeners - since nothing was working well - (took 4 last night) I'm eating yogurt, and fiber. Not having much movement - so I knew by this wkend, I'd have to re-sort to a bottle of Magnesium Citrate.

ALLIE - - Question - - Do the PEARLS actually "help you go?" Are they what you are speaking of, as the Proboctics? Some mentioned they got them at Walmart. Do you think they would be as good??
I don't think the stool softner's are that harmful, do you? That's why I had gone to just them, in the last wk - but not much results in the bathroom at all.

Thanks for "coming out" Allie - - I've asked questions on the board before about constipation, but never admitted I had a problem. One time someone responded that I might have a problem - yrs ago & I didn't reply back. Yep, you opened up a can of worms!!

I am "addicted to laxatives" - any kind I can get - that will work - I've tried all kinds - and have been for years - - This started after constipation problems after my son was born and it never stopped - it only got worse. . That was twenty something years ago. . . . I've never admitted this to anyone before till now.

I am giving you a HUGE HUG! I also go to the point where no matter what or how little I ate, I still had the bloated major discomfort-- and I am NOT ABOUT TO QUIT EATING. That is when I knew something was major wrong and I had to stop. I just know know know deep down inside that the nightly lax is WHY my tummy was messed up. I was taking the senna to make the feeling go away, but it returned right back when I ate. NOT GOOD.

Yes IMO the pearls make me go. It keeps the food moving through the digestive system in my opinion. They are advertised as helping to keep you regular, so yes. Yes the Acidophilus Pearls is a probiotic made up of two friendly (necessary) bacteria strains. I did not see them in either my regular Wal Mart or my Super Wal Mart. IMO, to get them locally the best place is Vitamin Shoppe, $29.99 for 90 pearls. Yes I read that stool softeners ARE ALSO HARMFUL for continued use. I was taking them AND the senna tea-- now I take NEITHER. I don't need them at all. I need nothing but these probiotics. I also drink a ton of water, always did since LCing. I know the water helps as well as working out. Helps move it on through COMFORTABLY.

This is a can of worms that NEEDs opening up and I applaud you for coming out! The probiotics are not a laxative-- they are not medecine. They are natural bacteria that SHOULD already live in great numbers in your digestive tract-- but your tract is probably way off as mine is/was. I already feel a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I have used NOTHING but the probiotics (as well as digestive enzyme supplements with meals 3x a day) for a week now, and I have 'gone' every single day in a NORMAL fashion, multiple times a day. My tummy is DOWN (flatter), not bloated, and I am fitting into my clothes better, sleeping better, and my mood is enhanced. I know it sounds crazy.

Blessings to you! You can get through it. Everytime I feel ashamed of my stupidness, and even more embarrassed to post it.... I get reminded that other people do/have done it too. You may not have done it for the reasons I did (or what my reasons morphed into), but either way a messed up digestive tract is NO FUN and affects everything I am finding.

Oh and honestly I am ONLY recommending the pearls just because I have had such fantastic success, and have read GREAT reviews both here on LCF and elsewhere. They WORK with no doubt. And for me they worked the FIRST DAY.

I put it in my dog's water and he drinks it up. Maybe try adding less ACV. If the smell is too strong, my dog will walk away from it. We are using it for fleas and yeast.

This is a link I found for a free sample of Pearls. You will see the link under the screen ad or it will take you straight to the order form. I ordered a sample after reading this thread.. Alli, I think its great that you have shared this with others. Its helping so many others here, thats why I hang around... Ive had problems with laxatives in the past and have been tempted to use again... I think I will try pearls first to restore what Ive lost.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks for posting this! I was beginning to think I had a problem because I do not go everyday. I would like to...but I don't

I love yogurt so I am going to start back eating that everyday. If that doesn't work I'll try the Pearls.

Results so far...no tea since monday night...

2 pearls tuesday, wed and thurs.... normal bm wed - nothing thurs, normal today so far....

The good news is ---- I have not bloated feeling or am not uncomfortable. I have had 2 salads (cobb and big dinner) wed, and a big salad w/ dinner tues, thurs (lunch and dinner) with no ill effects...

I was going to cut back to every other day to wean off the tea, but I think I'm going cold turkey - as long as I keep feeling good

Thanks again Allie!

Just wanted to mention that since I've added magnesium supplements things are moving much easier for me. Dr. Eades believes we are all deficient in it. I'm sure it's much safer than any laxative too.

The following is from M. Eades Blog (re: Protein Power).

Quote:
The paper points out that the majority of adults in the US (68%) don’t consume even the RDA of magnesium, which is, as far as I’m concerned, woefully low. Magnesium is an unbelievably important mineral for all sorts of body processes. Some 300+ enzymes use magnesium as a cofactor; magnesium helps regulate potassium status; magnesium acts as nature’s own calcium channel blocker, helping blood pressure stay down and blood vessels stay pliable; magnesium builds bones; magnesium is anti-inflammatory. The list of magnesium’s virtues goes on and on.

In fact, there exists an entire school of thought that posits that the entire Metabolic Syndrome is nothing but a manifestation of a a magnesium deficiency. Which isn’t as crazy as it sounds since virtually all the components of the Metabolic Syndrome—diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and lipid disorders—are associated with low magnesium.

Why are so many people deficient in magnesium? Because there are no single foods that contain huge amounts of magnesium, and because there is no single food containing large amounts, there is no magnesium lobby. Look at calcium. Thanks to the dairy industry, we are constantly told that we need to get enough calcium, and we’re told right where we can get it. Milk and cheese. Same with vitamin C. The orange juice people never let us forget. Not so with magnesium, so no one really thinks of it.

Another reason that many people are magnesium deficient is that they drink bottled water or softened water. In the old days everyone drank well water or water from streams, both of which contain large amounts of magnesium. Magnesium is removed when water is softened and it isn’t in large amounts in most of the bottled waters that are available. Our favorite readily available bottled water is Apollinaris, which has a pretty good magnesium level.

Magnesium is just about our favorite supplement. In fact, if we just had one supplement to recommend, and no other, it would be magnesium. Take it at bedtime because it helps you sleep.

Thanks for starting this thread, AllieCat0817. This is a very timely warning for me. Since starting the low-carb WOE, I've been having problems with constipation for the first time ever in my life. I tried a diet tea in the hopes that it would get things moving and being natural it would do no harm, but will throw it away since you've told us of the possible consequences.

Take care of yourself and good luck getting back to perfect health and balance.

Allie, I admire you for you honesty and willingness to be transparent to help someone else. In church we state that your testimony can help another person that may be struggling in that area, giving them hope that they're not alone and there's hope.

Thank you ladies. It is all over these boards, the problems we have with trying to go.... and the things we do to make it. Who would have thought that a natural supplement - friendly bacteria-- would fix it and possibly fix a colon that might have been VERY BROKEN without it. I told my dr I was using them on Wed-- and she peeked into my purse (it was sitting right there) and said 'I see your acidophilus- that is great keep taking those!'. Do you think she would have told me to keep drinking the senna tea?

I love the pearls because it is not harsh at all and I feel like I am actually ABSORBING nutrients and getting rid of what I don't need in the way I'm supposed to. And the crazy part is the pearls are SO TINY, who would think that tiny thing would do ANYTHING in a human body. I can't believe the no-bloating, no cramping, no tummy hurting, no intestinal pain and taking something I SHOULD be taking instead of 'sneaking' and doing that tea nightly. Amazing!

AND I can eat my lovely salads daily if I want with NO problems (adding some Digestive Enzymes to the mix). I read that Digestive Enzymes help the probiotics work even better. The two go hand in hand.

I have never been constipated but I suffer from bad cramping and urgent...omg...have to go now....moments a lot....

I started the pearls and have been taking one a day for 3 days and I am going a few times of day but its very very watery....is this normal? Ive been doing research and I saw one article that said in the beginning you might experience this....anyone else?

sorry if its tmi but allie you have me excited about this and Im hoping it helps my issues!

aliecat, i don't have the time to read all of the follow-up posts but i just want to wish you the best with this. i have been battling bulimia for 15 years now and mine started with 'cleaning myself out' with 'healthy' products like colon cleanse and dieter's teas. i innocently thought it was fine and clearing my body out for the healthy eating i was going to start doing everytime i started a diet...then i would break my diet and 2 days later do another tea or laxative. well, once those laxatives started causing stabbing, stomach clenching pain that would keep me in a hunched over position, it was too late. i had the messed up mentality and ventured into something i swore i'd never do...vomiting. it is now 15 years later and i have to constantly battle the messed up mentality that started oh-so innocently with 'healthy' products. i hope EVERYONE on this board reads this thread. i wouldn't wish bulimia on my worst enemy.
