Sorry if I sound dumb
That is not a dumb question, it's a very good one. It really needs to be "Raw" apple cider vinegar. Braggs is the brand to get. It has the "Mother" in it (cloudy looking stuff packed full of good nutrition and LIVE enzymes).

You can find Braggs in Larger Grocery stores. Usually it's with the Organic stuff (not with other vinegars). Ask your grocery store if they carry it, if you can't find it. Also, any health food store would carry it.

Thanks!

I'll go look for the Braggs brand tomorrow

Also, I purchased 1 months supply of Pearls (I took 2 on the way home ) along with 1 box of Pearls Xpress Powder.

Allie (or anyone who knows)... quick questions: Can I mix the powder w/a little water? I'm scared to dump the entire pack in my mouth, moisten, and swallow

PH

Thanks !

1) the pearls probably won't work IMMEDIATELY- be patient!
2) You can EITHER buy the Pearls (little circle 'pills') OR the powder packets. Now I bought both.. I take one pearl at 5 when I wake up, and I use a packet of the powder in my evening yogurt..... so you can buy one or the other.. or both...

Yes you can mix the powder with water. The first time I dumped it straight in my mouth, and it was GOOD tasting. I'm serious.

Allie I just read the whole thread! I have used laxitives on and off since I was in my teens. I have also had stomach IBD for just as long. I get bloated all the time. Which makes me feel horrible about myself. I have been to gastroenterologist without any luck. I went right after work and bought the pearls. The package says one pill everyday. Is the packet something you just added?? Which digestive enzymes are you taking??

Thank you so much for posting. Maybe this will help me too!! I hope!

I'm no doctor...... but for me I really think MY bloating and stomach pain was BECAUSE of the daily senna tea. I really do. Yes the package says one pill daily but I read some reviews online at various sites where some chose to do it twice a day. I wanted to try the packet.. so I decided to do the pearl in the am and packet in the pm in my yogurt. The packet tastes SO GOOD! Right now I'm taking GNC Super Digestive Enzymes. I already ordered the Enzymatic Therapies (same company that makes the pearls) brand Mega-Zymes for when my GNC runs out. I feel like I am HEALING my tummy (and hopefully brain).

Gotogirl suggested possibly trying 5 pearls in the am and 5 pearls in the pm, for 6 days (60 pearls total)-- she read this either in a book or online by nutritionist Anne Louise Gittelman. She told me she did this last year with great results and hasn't 'needed' to do it since.

You can def take more than 1 pearl in a day. I wouldn't do more than 1 packet in a day though cuz those were SUPER potent for me.

Still do... spent years struggling with the purging side of bulimia... ended up in the ER once years ago when I lived away and only got to come home twice a year - was mortified at the thought of coming home with extra weight... so I binged and purged myself into the ER because I was dehydrated... was asked in the ER if I was bulimic... of course I denied it... I was released and the next day I was back at it.... was able to finally conquer that a few years ago but have never been able to give up the laxatives... for the same exact reasons you gave...

I appreciate you being open about your struggles, but it does help to know that we are not alone. I grew up around a grandmother that abused laxatives to keep weight down and a mom that starved herself back when that was the rage and taught me to do the same (not consciously but by her actions)... for a while, I was able to quit (I had starved myself skinny) but my ex made a critical error when he told me I looked great but would be so much hotter if I dropped another 20... then proceeded to talk about women on TV... that sent me into a downward spiral to try to drop the 20 I didn't need to lose...

I don't know if I'll ever be ready to give the laxatives up entirely... it took a lot to give up the purging... ironically, it was when my ex-husband left me that I took the first step toward recovery from that part...

Mindy Both my grandmother and mother abused laxitives and went through periods of bulimia and not eating. I too have tried to break the cycle. I have an occasional set back but for the most part have good days. I just can not go to the bathroom! Allie has done a great thing here! She opened a debate so we can all share and know we are not alone!

I am scared to do that right now. Because I went STRAIGHT from the tea one night (and being TOTALLY CLEANED OUT- in a bad bad way), to taking the pearls the very next day. I don't know what you result will be, since you sound 'backed up' right now. This is so gross, sorry

Mindy-- thanks for posting. I always read what you have to say. OK how about this.... on your first day not using a lax, try the Acidophilus Pearls and just see what happens. Give it a try. I still can't believe I am VERY regular (moreso than when I was drinking the senna tea). Even after that huge salad yesterday I still 'went' super good this morning with NO issues- and salad is usually what bloats/backs me up. These convos are getting gross- sorry for that yall.

Just got done reading everything since I last checked in. Thanks so much for all of your support AND understanding! I think many more of us battle this way of thinking that anyone realized-- you just don't think anything is WRONG with thinking that way, until it is brought to light.

I admire your honesty and integrity in all of this. This thread has been very enlightening.

I had used and abused teas and laxatives in the past. I had even considered 'cleaning out' my system in the next couple of days. Good thing this thread came up.
