anyone try coconut oil for appetite suppressant?

I have read quite a few articles stating the benefits of coconut oil in weight loss. I decided to give it try. I have used it for two days now and I think it's helping control my appetite and cravings. I was wondering if anyone has any imput or experience with it?

I have and I love it! I use the expeller pressed to cook with and the extra virgin in my coffee or to make coconut oil bark. There are a ton of recipes on this site, but my favorite is to melt 4 tablespoons of oil and mix it with a scoop of protein powder, 4 tablespoons of flax meal and a handful of cashews. I put it in a shallow tupperware container and stick it in the freezer for about half an hour. I break it in chunks when it has solidified and put it back in the tupperware container and store it in the fridge. I have to be careful with it though as CO is such an effective appetite suppressant for me that it can throw my whole eating plan off if I consume it too early in the day. I know some people complain of side effects, but other than taking away my appetite, I haven't had any problems with it!

W'ow..I thought I felt something good happening. I had no idea how to use it because it is kind of gross to just eat it from the jar. I wasn't sure if cooking it would take away some nutrients or not.

Check out this thread for some great ideas: Coconut Oil Recipes and ideas...

A lot of people put it in their hot beverages, which I like much better than trying to eat it straight. I even eliminated using cream in my coffee and can now drink it black with the CO added. If you get the extra virgin, it has a very pleasant coconut taste. If you don't like the coconut flavor, the expeller pressed has the smell removed and you can't taste anything. Experiment with different brands (easier said than done, depending on your area) to see which you prefer. Good luck!

Yes! I just found these coconutty threads a week ago and I'm a believer. In fact, I just finished off a cup of lemon ginger tea with a glop of CO.

Here's a treat that I found posted:
Quote:
1 cup boiling water
1/4 cup CO
SF Jello
1 brick of cream cheese.

Combine in blender and blend until smooth
Pour into small serving dishes
Chill 4 hours
At the moment I've only got Spectrum expeller pressed. I'm waiting (anxiously) for my order from Tropical Traditions (virgin).

And when I get bored, I slather it on my skin.

Yep,having some in my tea right now,it took me a while to find the right one, brand that is,don't get Now,my new one is Nutvia, still don't care for the taste but is good in coffee or tea or baking with it.The Now was way to bad tasting and the Nutvia is way better,I just don't care to eat it off the spoon, some are and they like it

I melt a square of baker's chocolate in enough co to make about 1/2 cup and then add some spenda and make little chocolate candies. I use a mini muffin pan and they come out being about 1 TBS each.

I love them.

I've been making the chocolate bark with chopped pecans, sliced almonds, or unsweetened coconut. It definitely suppresses my appetite. Four Tbs of butter might have the same effect, but I haven't actually tried that yet

I too love it, in fact need to go to the store for more. I first used it when doing HCG and got the recipe from one of those forums. I make candy, add it to coffee and tea, and like JHudson04 it suppresses my appetite to the point where I completely forget to eat - LOVE THAT.

I may be wrong, but I think the Protein Powder probably has some sort of sweetener in it.

not enough though and most of the bark recipes have splenda although this not strictly a bark recipe. I dont find PP particularly sweet to my taste.

I wanted to add CO to my diet and really struggled with liking the bark and the oil-in-coffee/tea mixtures. The one thing I found that I enjoyed was some CO melted in a hot cup of broth with a little tobasco added for kick... mmmm. For me, fatty and salty way better than fatty and sweet!!!

Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it might help anyone!

Hey, my low carb peeps- I'm game for anything!!! I just threw a tablespoon in my coffee. And I'm noticing I'm really digging the taste!!! I would put HWC in my coffee for a treat (I normally drink it black). It would be cool if it did supress my appetite (helping me resist "seconds" as I feel they may be my downfall, even though I stay low carb (less than 20 net).

I've added coconut oil back into my plan again and I've noticed that my appetite has decreased. I scramble eggs in it, put it into my steel cut oats and stir fry veggies in it. I also eat sweet potatoes and have melted it on a sweet potato.

I like stevia drops to sweeten. I've *almost* completely cut out Splenda. And I am months off of Aspartame and carbonated beverages -- feel SO MUCH Better!!

Hi, the ball in the pic is actually a small rubber ball used in a class I teach called Bodyvive so I can't help you out with the medicine ball. I have used a medicine ball some at the gym for ab work but not a lot. Have you ever used ***********? Here's a link to an article on medicine balls and they have several more. It's a great website with a great food tracker and much more.

Another Nutiva fan here. I've tried several, and IMO it's the best-tasting by far.

I use it in lots of ways, and I also use it to cook with. I love Tilapia browned in a pinch of CO!

My latest discovery is amazingly delish:

.75 (ish) Tbs Nutiva EVCO*
1 Tbs Gaspari Delicious Vanilla whey protein
1 Tbs PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter
2-3 Tbs vanilla Carb Master yogurt

(I don't even use a full Tbs, just sort of eyeball it.)

Melt CO in nuker till almost completely liquid, then stir in next two ingredients till smooth. Then add in the yogurt and stir till THICK AND INSANELY GOOD.

This resembles peanut butter icecream when it's all stirred together, and the taste is fabulous. Who needs icecream when you can eat something this tasty and good for you!

sounds really good. I've got some SF peanutbutter powder, Jay Robbs's PP and nonfat yogurt so I think I'll try it today and add some stevia if I need to. I'm going to do it with cocolate PP.
