I seriously look 7 months pregnant...
and i'm not....
now days the material in so many cute clothes are that stretchy material. Looks great everywhere but my gut. I tried on a cute shirt in a size xl (i have lots of boobage lol) and it fit great it was long and hankerchief style at the bottom and had a flowing waist and fitted top like empire.. anyway looked great till i turned sideways..if i'm relaxed at all my gut litterally looks very pregnant...the nice round basketball pregnant that i wish i had looked like pregnant..but not so much not pregnant..get my drift. i can even rest my hand on the top of my belly which makes me look even more pregnant. anyone else have this problem and LOST it? I've been in physical therapy and been doing exercises that strengthen your back and in turn works the tummy but not seeing a bit of change if anything it looks worse. i'm 5'7 and wiegh around 183 and wear a 12-14 pants. i've had a ton of surgeries on my belly and my muscles are shot in more way than one, but its as if all my fat is right above my waist...my lower belly is more deflated than my upper belly its almost bizzare......someone make me see the light, as i get smaller i look worse and worse..atleast bigger i looked proportional. am i alone????????????????

You are not alone. I always had a nice hour-glass shape, even when I was heavy until after the kids. I too have that "high" stomach bulge! In fact, I was trying on my old xl shirts last night and they fit ok untill you look under the boob area and see that my "high" stomach is touching the fabric, YUCK! I too am looking for any responses on how to get rid of this!

Yes, it will go away eventually. I've had a c-section and gall bladder removed so although the scars aren't the prettiest...my belly has shrunk quite a bit. I do have a bit of hangy skin over my c-section scar that won't budge though. With clothes on though my belly looks flat.

You are very much not alone! I carry my weight in that area as well as a bit below....basically that "omentum" that Dr. Oz is so fond of referring to. It seems to be about the only place left I CAN lose any fat....so I'm hoping it will go eventually!
I wish I could put some of it in my tush because lately I think all the benches and chairs I've been sitting on have been replaced with some new materials that have NO give! What's up with THAT?! ![]() p.s. my maiden name was Barry and everybody in my family has that belly we've always called the "Barry Belly". Somehow it's just not as annoying to my 3 brothers as it is to a female! At least they don't have to wonder who's going to come up to them and ask them when the baby is due. AARGH! Stupid jeans...err...genes! ![]()

To nurseypoo5: The 1st time that I did Atkins, my belly was the last to shrink too...I am also 5'7"ish...and I got down to 160. Seems to be true this time too. I have no advise except ab workouts and time...but I do have this: : 'cause I know how you feel. |

This was my very last place to lose weight nursey. I though for sure I would have to have a tummy tuck. Eventually, when I got about 10lbs. from goal, and with a lot of cardio, I lost it. I still have some firming to do but I am sooooooo lazy with my abs.

Could it be scar tissue from your past surgeries?

Nothing new to add.
ITA agree with everyone on reducing body fat in order to loose the prego look. I look like one of those crazy stick figures . . . no arms, no legs, no hips/butt just a 34" belly. Hmph.... ![]() |

I know what ya mean. Avoid shirts that are "empire" style (cut under neath the bust line) and opt for "wrap" shirts.

Surgery scars make your body look disfuctional believe me I deal with that too. I have a appendix scar not the newer kind that are smaller but the older version that look like they did a c section on ya! And my abdominal area in front of a mirror looks horrid my flab leans to one side because of the scar tissue area at a slant it looks really sickening....lol

Wearing lower waisted jeans will help. My excess fat is above my belly button, if I wear lower waisted jeans...the fat bulges over less!

Me too!
I have lost 45 pounds and as of the last peek on the scale I weighed 150 pounds. A catalog came in here the other day and I found a cute sweater and a cuter jacket. Decided to take my measurements and find out what size i would be for that company. My bust and hips were in the Medium range, my waist was in the 1X range.....I couldnt believe it...do i really look that bad???? Quess it's pretty clear where my weight is. |

Nurseypoo, don't laff about the maternity tops. I am long waisted and 5"8" and one of my ladies mags actually recommended them as they look like this year's fashions and have the extra length to cover the top of my hips. I got some compliments on them at work this summer. Then again, maybe my colleagues were being polite.
I even bought some around-the-house tees -- so comfy! |
