What size jeans/pants at 200 lbs?

I hate to go shopping (I'm sure that will change when I lose more weight) but I need to go shopping for some pants...and I need some suggestions as to where to go and what size to get (I'm 5'5''). I don't want to get all depressed by trying on sizes that are too small.

Soooo...my question is, what size jeans/pants did you wear at 200 pounds and can you recommend any brands that fit well for someone with a rather flabby mid-section and large hips?

Thank you all in advance!!!

I am 5'1, at 200lbs I was between an 18-20. I shop a lot at plus size stores, like fashion bug plus, Lane Bryant. Walmart does have some good stretch jeans that fit well, too. I also bought some well fitting jeans at Goodys Dept. Store. Hope that helps.

I am 200, 5'3" and depending on the brand a 16 or 18. Target's Mossimo brand fits well, is stylish, and doesn't cost that much.

I'm 5'4 and on Sunday I was 204 and I am USUALLY in an 18. It depends on the pants. I have a pair of suit pants that are an 18 and they are HUGE, but jeans the same size and they fit fine.
I like Layne bryant jeans. Since they are a little higher in price I have actually found some on the famous auction website ( I dont want to get in trouble for saying the name ). I actually got a pair for a total of $9 that were brand new, and they are a decorated jean!

I'm 5'5" as well, but I'm very muscular (even when not exercising). I was in a size 16 at 200 lbs. If you're not that muscular, a size 18 would probably be better, since muscule if more compact then fat and also weighs more.

I'm 5'3" and at 200 lbs size 16 was too baggy but size 14 just barely fit. I had a pair of Mossimo pants that I loved so much.

If you have wide hips/booty you might want to try BabyPhat and AppleBottoms. Look on ebay for cheaper jeans tho. hth.

I wore 18/20 at that weight. Not tight, though. I was postpartum, and had the big belly.

I am 5'5" and at 200 I wore 18 or 20s....they have nice stretch "jeans" at The Avenue. I carry my weight in my belly and have always had skinny legs so no matter what size I wore that would stretch around my waist they were still terribly baggy in the legs. So, I couldn't wear regular jeans, only the elastic waist denim stretch pants. Can't tuck anything in.

I'm still wearing the same kind of pants because I still have a big belly and am down to between 14 & 16s of the same brand. They also have nice ones at walmart that even have pockets in them. Still nothing belted for me yet.

Congrats on needing to downsize!

I am 5'5 1/2" and wore an 18 at 200. I had some old navy, and some that I got at Kohls.

But, when I got down to about 193 I was able to fit into 16's.

This is me, too.

Doesn't it make you nuts to read that some people with pretty much the same stats say they wear 18, 16, even 14

Same with me. I was a 16 at 200 and now I'm about a 12/14.
