What do you think?

I am really having a hard time with this WOL but I know that I need to do something different in my life. I got knocked off again today and I just feel like a failure. I know that it's my fault but there has to be an answer somewhere out there for me. I was wondering maybe about a low fat, lower carb diet. Do you think that will work? Like maybe some grilled chicken salad for luch, a grilled cheese sandwhich for dinner with low fat cheese and wheat bread and maybe a low carb yogurt for breakfast. What do you guys think about that?

Would I loose doing that? I was thinking for snacks maybe some sf jello or some type of fruit. Do you think this would work? Or am I just crazy? LOL

I think it is easier to succeed if you stick to a specific plan. There are many plans out there. Atkins, South Beach, BFL, Weight Watchers, etc. Do some research and pick a plan that you think would be easiest for you to follow. If you stick with any weight loss program you can lose - just stick to it.

Start Date: Jan 2005 (again)/15-Apr-2008 (after baby)
You're not crazy - you just need to figure out what is causing this.

Jumping from diet to diet is not the answer.

You need to figure out what is going on. You say you were knocked off? Why? What happened? Did you eat breakfast? Lunch? What have you been eating? Have you been exercising? Vitamins? Water?

I see that you have Atkins listed as your way of eating? Which book do you have? Have you read it cover to cover?

Sorry for all of the questions - but, you're not a failure, you just need to figure out what you ARE doing, so you can make the right decisions and change what needs to be changed.

Good luck!

WOE: Atkins

If you're having trouble eating Atkins, which is real whole foods, healthy fats, yummy meats, cheeses, eggs, and veggies...how are you going to stick to low fat, low carb, low calorie? You won't last a day because you will be depriving yourself of taste, and will be constantly hungry (low fat means more sugar, more insulin, more fat storage).

It just sounds like you're not ready. When you are, you will do this and succeed.

Any plan worth doing, is worth doing right. If you can't eat whatever foods are on your current plan, find a plan you CAN live with and eat-not just looking for that quick fix. You will never get off that rollercoaster if you continue on that path!

I wish you lots of luck!

This has happened to me before too, don't be too hard on yourself!

I can't tell you much about a lowfat version, I have never really tried that. What I would do aditionally to thinking about your WOE, is to really think through HOW that slip up happened, what was going on before it, and what you will do to prevent it next time.

For me, it's often exhaustion that lead to binges. I know that and it is my responsibility to catch myself before I fall i.e. take breaks, say 'no' if necessary, breathe and check in if I'm OK etc.

Good luck

Atkins is not for everyone. I have friends that would never even consider low carb diets. Not that they think they're bad, they just would never give up bread, rice, potatoes and other foods that are restricted severely on low a carb lifestyle.

Have you tried other plans before? Have you tried low calorie, low fat and had any success? My best friend has lost a lot of weight and kept it off by just reducing the amount of fat and calories by a little and adding excecise. It can be done.

I agree with Sandra though that diet hopping won't work at all. You have to pick a plan and stick to it for awhile before you decide it's not for you.

That is wonderful!! With such support right there at home-you will succeed!

I have done just about every diet there is at some time or another. I have counted calories for the past 2 years and followed a lowcal/lowfat woe. I love it.
Good luck!!!

This WOE is easy if you plan. Always have a low carb snack available. Plan out your meals.

Your lunch looks perfect dinner can be more exciting with a piece of fish or meat under that cheese and revolution roll. Lots of nice stuff for breakie. How about some cottage cheese with cinnamon and Spleda. Boiled eggs are always good or even a piece of quiche??

I am definately an emotional eater. When things get crazy in my life then I tend to go a binge. Well, it seems like this is what has happened. I need to find something to do to stop this patteren. Atkins is the only thing that I have stuck with as much as I have. It makes me to think that I almost gave up on me again! I can do this! I know I can! I think I will continue with Atkins WOL. It will help me out a lot since my hubby is also carrying this WOL so we can be supports for each other! I need to do this for our two year old lil girl! Thanks so much for all the support!

Oh honny, yes you can and with such a great support right there for you how great that is. I would have said to count callories or something else for awhile but rally sense you have your hubby doing it wiht you you 2 can try all kinds of different recipes or just the food in the house can leave you stress free compaired to peeps with teenagers or husbands that don`t even give them good vibs. You have it all right there. Please give it great though before doing a differen way of eating than your DH. I can`t emagine anything different would be better but do as you wish. Maybe a week off and just trying to keep off gaining and then back on plan. Take care of yourself, Sue

I agree you should find a specific plan and go with it, rather than just winging it on your own.

If lowfat/lower carb appeals to you... try looking into South Beach, Weight Watchers (I believe its their "core" plan, with low carb options), Scarsdale.

It does no harm to read up on various plans and pick out the one that looks like you can stick to its maintenance phase for life. If that looks like Atkins, super, if not, there's a variety of choices out there.

What it will come down to though, once you pick the plan where the food looks pretty doable for you, is YOU. Eat good food in the quantities your body needs for fuel (and no more) and you will be slim, healthy, and attractive. Eat crap and you'll look like... well, we all already know how we look when we do that!

You seem like a great person, you have a great husband and I'm sure your little one is a darling. Do this for all of you, because you all deserve it.

aahhh what a sweetheart you have there too! That warmed my heart.

So, it's not the plan that isn't working it's the emotional eating. So, this tells me that no matter which plan you choose, the EE will be the struggle. Have you figured out what your trigger is? Is it the baby? Is it bills? Is it work? A combo probably! Do you exercise? That is my stress buster.
Since you and DH are on this together, that makes it a tad easier. If you only have a 2yo at home then your food choices only need to be legal right? It is better to binge on lc foods than non lc foods. It is ofcourse better to handle the emotion in a different manner whcih is about re-directing the stress.
Hey you've pin pointed the problem. Now you just need to find the solution.
Thank you for being here. You have a wonderful supportive husband and a beautiful little girl. You can do this.
