WOE: counting carbs
Question about Lexapro and Atkins!

I'm on 20 mg a day of Lexapro, and I just started the Atkins Diet today. Do you think the combination of Lexapro and 20 grams or less of net carbs a day will be okay for me, or do you think I will feel dizzy, out of sorts, etc? I'm hoping and praying that it will be just fine as I really benefit from my Lexapro, and I also really want to be able to do the Atkins plan. If someone could let me know asap, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I take 10mg of Lexapro and have great results with it. It has not affected me at all(diet wise). I have been on and off low carb many times. The only reason I would think you felt dizzy is if your blood sugar drops or something. You might try taking it slow to start off with...

Good Luck

I'm on Lexapro and the diet doesn't make me feel any more out of sorts than usual. Lexapro does that to me anyway - i feel foggy and "out of it" all the time. When I first did induction 2 years ago I was on Paxil and it killed my apetite along with ketosis. I find when I'm on meds I have no appetite or desire to drink but I also have no desire or energy to exercise so I don't know if it's good or bad for my health but I wind up losing better.

The other day I didn't even have enough energy to go SHOE SHOPPING. lol. And I can always manage that. I just walkd into the mall and my feet felt like they were made of lead and I had to turn around and go home. And the week before I started Lexapro again I was jogging 2.5 miles every other day with no problem.

I'm sorry - I'm not on Lexapro - I'm on Celexa. Sorry about the confusion, but the side effects for me were very similar on Paxil and Celexa and I think Lexapro is similar to Celexa.

HI:
10mg of Lexapro here. I haven't had a problem with lowcarb, but I do believe that it makes it harder to loose. However, with perseverance and patients the weight will melt away.
I feel that the benefits of the medication and the improvment in mood are well worth having slower weight loss.

I am taking 20mg as well, due to high cholestoral and diabetes, i switched to egg beaters this week and have lost 4lbs. I have heard rumors they make u gain, but my appettie seems the same. I do agree i feel loopy "out of it" sometimes. I agree w Xamier go for body and mind, let the rest follow. Good luck
