someone bumped this thread and I am glad that they did. I love your story...you are amazing. And eloquent, I may add.

I am in awe of what you have accomplished, and your self-revelation.
Congratulations on everything.

It took me way to long to finally read this TaDa, hesitation probably out of fear because somehow I knew that I would see so much of my childhood and story in your own. Even though I was the terribly skinny kid, not the fat one, I had the same issues because of being too thin. The name calling, the questions of "do you eat ANYTHING", the doctors telling my mom I was too sickly and needed to be "fattened up". So when I did become overweight it was such a blow, like why did this happen when this is how I was suppose to eat all along to look "normal"? As you know the list goes on, but like you I have found my "place" in my heart and head and actually appreciate the adversity now that got me where I am today.

Thank you for your story and for the wonderful person you are. You are among one of my favorite people on this site and your knowledge, inspiration, encouragement and caring goes beyond what most give.

TaDa:

Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to you for sharing the insights you've gained throughout your struggles with your weight. The events and feelings you described from your younger days resonated so strongly in me that it seemed I was reading an account of my own life. I am humbled by the fortitude you've displayed and the progress you've achieved. I realize now that I am not alone in this struggle, and though I've always been more of a lurker than a joiner, I think I've finally found a place I can comfortably share my weight loss journey, and share in the similar struggles of others.

Thanks again for your courageous posts, and for sticking around long after you've achieved your goals to help those of us just beginning our journeys!

I rarely post, but have frequented LCF for about 15 months. You are truly an inspiration and so gracious to share your deeply personal experience. Often when I have felt weak or discouraged, I read about your journey and find the strength I need to continue.

Thank you for all that you do to help so many.

Thank you so much for all the kind words. In all honesty, I am always slightly embarrassed when this thread gets bumped, but I just know that there are others out there just like me who maybe can't even imagine that this could be accomplished and could use some encouragement.

I am particularly touched to see some of you that tend to read the boards and not post too much and I really really hope you'll come out and let us all get to know you better. When I first stated I was very hesitant about this place, about posting my weight, about posting a picture but what I realized in the end, was that, with this common goal, I was in a place of likeminded people and that this was just the place that I should share my feelings and my struggles. No one was going to laugh or humiliate me ..

I will say that I posted almost exclusively on the Century Club board (for people with 100+ lbs to lose) for the first few years as I just felt more comfortable among that community -- that they would understand me -- but over time have come to spend "time" everywhere on these boards ...

My advice ... dip a toe in the water ... there are a lot of people here who need you as much as you need them. I hope to get to know you.

Pauline

I hope that once I get my weight under control once and for all I can concentrate on reaching for some other goals I have in life. Again Congratulations on your journey!

I had not read your success story. I am grateful that it was bumped and I signed on today.

I play with the scale as you did---weighing at night, subtract 2 lbs.....blah blah blah. The only thing that accomplishes for me is to send me to bed deflated if the number is not something I want to see.

You are a great inspiration to all showing that through hard work and constant learning it can be done. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your story. I don't know how I've managed to miss out on it for so long! I've been around here for a while now.

Also, I didn't know anyone else had figured out the "subtract 2" trick!!!! Works pretty well, though. (And I don't mean for purposes of justifying eating off-plan-- "subtract 2" just saves me from having to remember to weigh-in in the morning "nekkid and empty")

It's also nice to know that there may be good reason why I do so much better "easing on" to plan, rather than "jumping on." If I jump on, I tend to jump off! If I "ease" on, I stick around. I don't do induction anymore, either, I just ease back into 50 net carbs, moderate cals, per day and go from there.

Thanks for the book recommendation; I plan to send it to a friend who is struggling mightly and has for years.

hugs!
joy

Hi Pauline,
I have been here a few times but never read your story. I want to thank you for posting it and for being so honest about everything. I am back to this woe and while I do not expect miracles I know that if I stick with it I will succeed. As a compulsive over eater I am very aware that I self sabotage. I am going to use your story to remind me that I can/have/will deal with this part of the problem too.

Thank you.
