Lesley, my drink there is actually what I usually have mid-workout (between running and weights).

1/4 cup lowfat yogourt +
1 scoop of whey protein vanilla (87 calories, 1.5 carbs) +
davincis syrup (caramel and kahlua flavors)

Just a little protein for muscle building ... and at the race it kept me away from the high carb high sugar table they typically provide for the runners post-race

pauline.... definitely thank you for sharing not only your success but your struggle.. I have been struggling with binge eating for over 4 months now.. I have done fat fast, water fast... ect..

I only realized today that doing those sort of things.... yes they work well, but I always binge after. I am so glad that I am not the only one.. who keeps trying and failing... Reading your post has given me a new hope and perspective on things...
I definitely need to get rid of any type of food in my house that would cause me to binge, or buy things that arent a temptation to me.

Wow great post.... I definitely have a new perspective today... and actually feel like I am going to break this ugly cycle...

Thank you.

Pauline,

I don't always get time to read through all the posts on the main boards, and that's unfortunate, because I've missed yours!

This post has been so inspirational....to say the VERY LEAST!

I'm going to copy and print out your post and save it for future reference.

I can't say enuf!

Congratulations on your success! You look fabulous! Thank you for taking the time to share your story for the benefit of your LCF's! Blessings to you!

Nice to know that there is someone in "the boat" with you strugglin through and trying to accomplish what they initally set out to do. Looks like you have rached the "light house" and well deserved. Feels good to know, that those of us still in the boat of struggle can look to the light house and know that there is light. Pauline, your light is bright and I am so greatful that you were humble and generous enough to shine your light our way. Hope you continue to shine and keep that smile because, it simply looks like you have been set free. God Bless You!

Pauline--I've been away from the boards for most of this week (schoolwork and kids and hubby on vacation). I'm so sorry I missed this inspiring and uplifting thread. What an amazing story you've told us and what an awesome woman you are! I am so proud of you, just like everyone here is. Thank you for sharing your success and life with us. You are the best!

Wow - your post is very inspiring. I can identify with so many of the things you wrote. I lost a bunch of weight at first and now I am dealing with the binge eating. I'm good for a day or 2 and then binge. This has been going on for months. I'm now 20 pounds above my lowest weight.

THank you so much. You have no idea how much this post has encouraged me.

TaDa, WOW are the only words that keep coming to mind. I'm still wiping away the tears. Thank goodness that I know how to type w/o look'n at the keyboard!!

Your story is Exactly what I needed this morn to get my butt back in gear! I remember seeing your Avatar a while ago, and thinking to myself.. This lil skinny chick probably only has to lose 3-5#'s!! (sorry!) What a journey you've been on, I can relate to a lot of it. A friend of mine is always training for marathons and always encouraging me to join, right now that is out of my wildest dreams. But in the back of my mind I know I can do it...My excuse is that my girls that sit on my chest don't run!!! Seeing your pictures, totally turned my thought process around... I want that reward! I can only imagine how good you must've felt and how proud you are. I always think back to when Oprah ran her first marathon.
I've been binge'n uncontrollably this past week. Haven't figured out my root cause, but definitley going to stop this pattern before it gets out of control.

Thank you for an amazing post! You are a very brave women. You look absolutely amazing! You go girl!

Pauline,
I was about to binge tonight. You just told my story. I lost over 70 pounds on Atkins and gained 40 pounds back in no time. Now, I am taking aggressive measures to be a certain weight by graduation, and your post will help me stick to it. Thank you!

Thank you. Reading this was a gift today. I just "second" everyone's feedback and am awed by your honesty, humility and hope.

This is my first post in months. Bingeing and gained 17lbs back...a similar cycle to the one you shared about. Now, I'm telling myself scary stories...clothes don't fit...feel like a failure... can't seem to get a clean eating day and truthfully, don't know what to even start with in terms of a food plan. I keep saying: "I'll start tomorrow". I'm starting right now...not sure what, but I'm starting right now. Thanks again and I just wish everyone here who can identify with this story lots of love and ecouragement one day at a time...

TaDa! Thank you. I've only been on this site a short time, and gleaned lots of information, inspiration, practical ideas and theories (often conflicting! LOL), but, honestly, your post here with all the links to additional helps has most profoundly touched at the heart of why so many of us struggle. Certainly, it touched my heart. I know I can learn how to eat and exercise, get all the procedures right - for a while, at least - but if I don't make the inner journey, it won't last. I want to be healed, not just slender. That's a message that many more of us need to hear. Thank you for your humility and transparency, and your clearly apparent joy.

Hi Ta da -

Usually I lurk, but I just had to tell you I am printing out your post to read often. I don't have the same binge issues, but there was so much that resonated with me. I think I am afraid of actually succeeding, so I don't even really try. I know that is true in other areas of my life, anyway. This is such an inspiration!

By the way, look at your eyes. You really look like you're at peace with yourself. Thanks for sharing with us.

Congratulations! And thank you for posting your journey. It's very inspirational. Though I don't have as much weight to lose, but the struggle is very similar. Reading your words re-motivated me, and re-energized me.

Thank you again and do keep us posted.
