Cheri,
Thank you for making this site! I know it will be a big help for me as I am just beginning Atkins seriously for the 1st time. I started on Monday and have not cheated. I was going to do Atkins a few months back, but got sidetracked before I ever started. I look forward to reading the posts here and learning what I need to do to be successful! Thanks again! miZ |

1 week
Hey guys...
This is my one week mark and I have lost 5 pounds. I am really pleased with my result. I thought it might be more, but 5 is a good number. I had already been losing some previously, so this is a good boost to my loss. How is everyone else doing? I've been to some ballgames which always meant popcorn and I've done great. I have resisted all temptation! Its good! I just wanted to check in. Hope everyone is doing great! ![]() |

hopingtolose25 hun...
Just take your before measurement and subtract it from the next time you measure... do this with each body part and then add them all together... here is an example If your hips were a 39 and now a 37... you lost 2 there If your waist was a 32 and now a 31... you lost 1 there If your arm was a 17 and now is 15... you lost 2 there add the total losses.... it would be 5 inches total... if you need help feel free to send me your starting measurements and your current ones and I will figure it all out for ya!!! rdhd382 you are doing terrific!!! Good for you sweetie... keep up the great work and keep us posted!! ![]() I hope everyone else is doing great as well!! Keep pluggin away! cheri

New here too. I started my Lo Carb journey 1 week ago today. I have lost 10lbs. this week. Certainly an incentive to stay with the program!
I have been looking around the site here for a few days, & finally registered today. The internet sure has brought a new support system not available to people years ago. Traz |

Great for you, Hayes! My induction is going much better than i had even hoped! (10# in 11 days last time I weighed, which was this past Sunday.)
This web site has helped me more than anything, as it has answered every question that I had about all of this. I am sure that more questions will come up for me as I continue, but it seems like combined, that we have all the answers that we need. I registered here on the 6th and started induction on the 14th after reading the posts here and the success stories. I hope to add my own one day, as I am now inspired!

Newbie to this site...been using it as a reference for about 4 months. This site is huge and I'm having trouble trying to get to where I want to go or search for topics I'm interested in though. Glad it's so popular but it is a lot to wade through...any tips? Is there somewhere specific I should post my history and what not? A certain thread?

Reply to Liz777
I have been on (and off) the Atkins Diet for 2 years but I just found this page.
I noticed Liz777 posted about her ideal weight and I didn't see a reply so forgive me if I'm repeating information. Basically, our society has unrealistic expectations of what a woman's body should look like. I know healthy women that look great but starve themselves to lose 5 or 10 more pounds. Also, the charts in the doctors office are frequently too stringent. They do not take into account frame size or muscle mass. The truth is there are big boned women out there who's bodies can support more weight and may need more weight. Also, muscle weighs more than fat. That's why I can lose fat while going to the gym but not see a noticeable difference in my weight, because I am gaining muscle. Finally, a healthy body NEEDS muscle. Muscle burns fat. The more muscle a person has the more fat that person will lose. When looking at your ideal weight, you must consider many different factors such as height, bone size, level of activity, health, life-style, all those things play a part. Hope this helped. Emily |

Thanks for so much help; I'm a brand new newB here and can use all the help I can get. I would also like to have some friends I can chat with or whatever so that I can learn from them and their experiences and get ideas on what they're eating every day. If there's anything like that here, I would love to know about it! I'm very determined to make a difference in my life and am ready to learn everything it takes to make it happen. This is my second day into induction and so far, so good. So, HELP!! to anyone who would like to lend me some advice, and HI!! to anyone who wants to get to know me! Take care and thanks for making a great site and for all the work it took to make all this happen.

Hey Sue, YES it IS wonderful to have this place! I've just spent the past few days researching low carb recipes and everything else low carb and one thing I've learned is that you desperately need information in every way possible on this WOE/WOL! And induction isn't easy, given that many foods are forbidden. But I've found so many good ideas from here and that's something I really need. Take care and have a great day!

New to Atkins and to site
Hi there,
Thanks for putting up the newbie page, I have found it very helpful. I am currently in the induction phase, and I hope I'm doing it right! There was an earlier message on this thread that said the Atkins protein bars are not good during the induction phase, I was just hoping someone would explain why. I had one yesterday, and it will be my snack today. Thanks in advance. Also, when you're doing induction, do you count the carbs in the 3 cups of veggies towards your total 20g for the day? Do you count the avacado or olives that are considered a treat? Thanks ![]() |
