Hi all,
I am new here today, although I have been lurking for a while. I did really well with Atkins about 5 years ago, but kept using all of the "fake" goodies, you know, low carb pasta, bread, sauces, you name it, and that was just a step away from going back to the full carb, full sugar version. Wham. The pounds came back with a vengance. I am really commited to going all the way with it this time. I am having a heck of atime getting back into ketosis this time, but today, after 9 really strict days, my stick finally turned pink! Hurray! I know that with the support that I find here, I will really be able to go the distance this time! Onward and upward, uh.. I mean "downward", weight wise that is.

Thanks ~
Nim

Hey!!

Welcome, lots of good info here and other sites.

Maybe if you're still a twenty something can you eat low carb desserts every single night and still lose weight, and if you can, more power to you.

You are so right, low carb does not necessarly mean no weight gain. I fell into the same trap, my friend, gained back the 40 lbs I had lost.

Best wishes on your journey!

Hello Cheri,
As I am a real computer novice, I was hoping that you could direct me to some technical information to help me find my way around here? I did post once in "weight loss journals", but don't know how to continue there on a daily basis. Also when I read my post in the "main low-carb lobby" my posts look quite different from other peoples - i.e. the little envelopes on the far left. Any advice? Thanks so much. Also, what is an "Avatar"?

Hi Sue.. I PMed ya but will answer you here also...

What might help you is if you click on search and then type your name in and search for your own posts and you can get back to your Journal.. or you can just go to the journal bulletin board and scroll for yours... Then just click on reply to do another post in your own thread... I find searching for my name helps the best. Also.. an avatar is under your name there in the left.. some people have their picture in it... some choose one of the avatars that the site provides... If you want your picture and need some help feel free to email your picture to cherilynn8@hotmail.com and I would be happy to crop/shrink and put your picture in for ya. Just let me know.. I am always so happy to help.

Ooopss... and as far as the envelopes.. don't worry about them.. yours are colored differently so you can find it easily.. also some change to show that you have read that particular thread... you will see when you look at a thread before opening it and then looking after you open it and then go back out.. it will show you that you posted in a particular thread also.. so it just depends. I just ignore the envelopes myself.

Happy New Year

Hi Edie

Very smart of you to start over after gaining back just part of the weight, instead of going the full monte, so to speak.

Boredom is the bane of all diets, make this a new way of lofe, so many great options available now- when you are ready you can have great low carb pasta, decent low carb bread, low carb ice cream now and again...it's all about moderation.

Best wishes to all on your journey!!

Great site. I have saved it in my favorites. I will look into soon. Right now, I am still overwhelmed by what I found here at LCF. Seems to be an awesome support network of great people.

Thanks for the Welcome - the Newbies site is great

Hi all - thanks for welcoming me to the site. I have been spending some time just finding my way around and reading some of the posts. The newbie site is most informative.

I've been lurking here for months and decided to finally join. I went off plan over the holidays to enjoy 'forbidden' goodies, giving myself a five pound window to play in. I did okay, but overshot my window by a pound. I gained 6 pounds in three months. Now I'm ready to hop back on the wagon! This site is great, very inspirational. Coming here to read has warded off my craving for 'forbidden' goodies more than once. I look forward to posting with you all!

New

I am new to low carb. I started this 1 1/2 weeks ago. I am in induction and have lost 8 lbs and have dropped from a 24 to a 20 . Just had baby number 2 in November. My sister in law has been a member here for a long time and has encouraged me to join. The sight is great and very helpful.

HI, everyone. I'm new at this. Looking around the site. Looks like it's just what i need to help me. I had done the Low Carb shakes and Atkins in 2001 and lost about 130 lbs. I hurt my knee and gave up. Gained ALL of my weight back. In April 2006, i went back on Atkins and lost about 70 lbs. Eased up off the diet a little around the holidays. Time to get serious and get the rest of it off. Still have at least another 70 to go. Started at 270(2006), currently at 211(2007). Gonna do the Atkins this time. The shakes were nasty. Good Luck to all. Karen

I'm new...

I was wondering if there was an online site that you could enter your meals and it would calculate the carbs for you as the day progresses. Would anyone know of a site like that? Someone might have mentioned it but it's a lot of pages to go through.

New

I am new to the site. I have been on Atkins for a week now. Each day gets easier. I am 33 yrs old and need to lose 90lbs. I have two girls 3.5 and 20 months. They keep me going. I don't want to be the fat mommy. I find each day to be a little easier. It gets hard when the girls are at playdates and I forget to bring food. I look forward to chatting with everyone.

new to this website

I have been cutting carbs moderately and have lost 19 lbs since April 16th of this year, but now I want to get serious and lose at a faster rate. I read on this website about Kimkins and am thinking of doing that starting next monday. I love everything I read on this site and looking forward to communicating with you.
