I'm a Renewbie

Hello everyone,
I was on this Board way back when it first started as Sal. I lost over 50 pounds and felt great. After 6 months, I hit a plateau and became discouraged. I began to eat carbs and then it becomes the same old story.

This is the way of eating I need to do for a life time. I am insulin resistant and seem to put fat on around my middle.....very classic. I have problems with hypoglycemia and I would eat something sweet and the cycle would start again.

This is my first day. I started with a ham omlette at 9am and I still am not hungry at 2:30. Now, I am heading for the frig to make my blue cheese salad dressing. Yippeeee.

Another newbie here, don't have a personal website but wanted to drop in and say hello. Eager to learn from everyone here, and hope to provide a supportive virtual ear.

Well, let's see I am in my late 20's, and I used to run for stress relief and weight management but knee, ankle and shin injuries put an end to that. I am working on eating a more healthy rounded diet. I was raised eating a low-fat, carb heavy diet for heart health and am now trying to improve my habits.

Hi to everyone! I am (relatively) new to LCF and tend to lurk, but wanted to say hello, finally!

Also I wanted to give a great big thanks to EVERYONE for such terrific, inspirational, informational, motivational and positive posts. I love these boards and come here every day.

I am 35 and have been back on low carb (after a weight gain hiatus of 1 yr.) for six weeks and have lost 20 lbs. so far doing a lot of yoga and walking, while on induction. My goal is another 30 - onederland...after too many years to count!

Hi ~

Just a quick intro. I probably won't post much, but I do enjoy reading here!

I am 41 and had a baby about a year ago. Still carrying extra weight and am tired of it! Not currently doing a certain woe, just trying to limit my sugar intake and since watching it more I do feel better.

Nice board!

WOE: Protein Power (sort of)
Start Date: june 2005
I have been low-carbing (sort-of) for about a year. I started off on South Beach but found it too loosely structured and have since been leaning more toward the protein-power woe. I lost quite a bit of weight right off but have been stalled for quite a while (luckily I have a not gained much of it back). My problem lately has been that my boss and I eat out for lunch every day and I have grown immensely tired of salads. Keeping meals low carb at home with a family who are not on the diet has also been a challenge (a problem I'm sure I share with many if not all of you). I have Addison's Disease and am on hydrocortisone which does not help. This has to become a lifetime woe because I am at very high risk of diabetes. I realise I need to re-dedicate myself and am looking for all the support I can get.

The good news is that I only have 20 or 25 pounds to go before I am completely happy with my weight.

Hello

I've been lurking here for some time and decided to register today. Just wanted to say what a wonderful site this is. The info is incredible, especially Kimmer's. I started the K/E 6 days ago and have lost 8lbs. Hit Ketosis on the 5th day. Before K/E I was doing Atkins Induction and lost 10 lbs in a month. So things are moving along nicely.

Thanks to all of you.

Hi, I lost 40 pounds three years ago following Atkins but have not been as loyal and have only gained 3 pounds back but my belly fat is back. I am going to start back full force as i want to lose about 40 more pounds. I look forward to all the encourging posts and great recipes. i can only post a small amount as i still work part-time and take care of two active grandkids during the week.

Don't really know how these posts work but I'm too excited to read a tutorial. I've been reading all your wonderful postings and finding them sooooo inspirational!
Well, I started Atkins on July 2 first thing in the a.m. and I must have been really water-logged because I've lost 9 lbs. in those two days. I do feel just a little shaky this morning....but HAPPY! I'm drinking HUGE amounts of water and taking Atkins Basic 3 and extra calcium. I drink quite a bit of Crystal Light too (hope it's ok...says 0 carbs but 5 calories per 8 oz serving)
Recently found that I'm allergic to eggs which makes breakfast hard because they have always been "breakfast" to me and there's nothing else I like for breakfast, so.......I am having a chocolate Atkins shake instead.
I need to lose about 90 lbs. and would love to do it by Christmas! Sounds like that's asking for too much so, maybe I'll say 20 lbs. by Aug 1 as a short term goal.
I'm recently retired and have time to come here often to read the many postings and informational material. Looking forward to finding recipes (although I hate to cook) and trying new things. Thanks for being here!

Hello from Terry

Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I've been lcing (more on than off) for several yrs. Began w/Atkins but got "stuck". Found success doing Neanderthin (no dairy, no frankenfood, no grains) then began overdoing the fruit and my weight stalled. Went from 254 to 204. I'm 54 and postmenopausal and am thrilled that finally at my age, after trying so many approaches, my version of lowcarbing works. My first goal is to get under 200, then 150, then we'll see where my body will settle at a healthy weight.

Recently went through several months of a grieving process and just plain didn't care what I ate, how I felt or how much I weighed and went back up to 240. With God's help I am coming out of the other side knowing He will never leave me, He is in control and His love never fails.

I'm glad I found this site (a friend on Christian Low Carb Retreat referred to kimkins). Did some digging here and settled in with meat/fish/water/tea, supplements and diet pop. Lost 7 pounds by my third morning (today), feel great and my bp is again at a good level...back down to 117/74 and I hope the bottom number will get back in the 60s again. Having fun surfing here...thanks for the helpful posts, encouragement, good work and the great responsiveness from board administrators.

Terry

My husband and I are starting tomorrow morning and I'm very excited!! I'm wondering how I would add the info to my profile that I see on other's that show the weight progress, what plan they're following etc... I'm not very computer/message board savvy unfortunately

I have been talking to my husband about low carb diets for about 18 months...he's weighing in a 330+ right now and he asked if I would go on this eating plan with him Sunday.....yeah!!! I'm so worried about him. I want to set myself up here and then be able to show him so that he might want to join me here and have some extra added incentive and support....Thanks

newest newbie

im new. I just found this site and am really stoked; i have been doing kimmers for a week, but i keep on messing up. so hopefully hanging around this site will help me stay on track a bit more. my goal is to lose 7 lbs by the 21st. Which if i stay on top of things should be totally do-able. I have read a bunch of varying degrees of weight loss with kimmer and would love to lose as much as other people have claimed (15lbs in a week!!!) but i dont see that as being a realistic goal. So 7lbs, by the 21st. Thats my story!

It is nice to see new people here... There is a lot of support here for the Kimkins plan you will be happy to know... check out the other plans board.. everyone is so helpful with people having problems staying on that plan.. You can also get the Atkins 72 version of Dr Atkins plan and use that as a guide as it is what kimkins is anyway... just make sure to eat leaner meats.. this will help keep you lower in fat and calories. And above all... welcome to the site.. you will love it here hun.. Its nice to have such a great free site with tons of people to help you on your way!!

Hi All Low Carbers,
I'm new to this site (well, two days ago anyway) and thought I'd say hey to y'all.
I absolutely love this site. Chalk full of info, it is. Love all your tips and helpful hints, too. Spent about 3 hours just reading, reading, reading on it the other night. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one choosing to eat this way, but this site makes me feel like I'm part of something so much bigger (and better!). I've lost 16 pounds so far, then kind of stalled. My doc did some blood tests and it looks like I'm having some hormonal battles within my bod, and a possible low thyroid, so she's going to help me get all that regulated (she's a fellow low carb believer herself!) and get me back on track and losing again.
Thanks!
Shelli
