Nutty is fine with me! I live in north eastern LA county, near Leona Valley/Palmdale. Funnily enough, I lived in Cape Cod and Buzzard's Bay, MA as a youngster for almost 3 years and I LOVED every moment of it! I miss everything about it, especially the stuffed quohogs...oh my, were they ever good!

Talk about coincidences! If you've read Moby Dick you know how close I am to The Cape. Acutally, we can see Buzzards Bay from our shores.
I miss everything about Long Beach. If I had my "druthers", I'd be living there right NOW!
And, again, coincidentally, I had stuffed quahogs for dinner last night! LOL
Glad you joined up with us. I have found this site very helpful and friendly , as I'm sure you will too. Who knows maybe I'll even send you a quahog or 2 some day!

Hello & Thank you for the newbie page! I started 2/28/06.. and plan to continue the rest of my life. I'm excited that I've lost 13 lbs. in such a short time (under a month). I'm looking forward to obtaining all of my goals with this new life style. I no longer see Atkins as a "diet". I see it as a life style and a way to live your life in happiness. I wish all good luck and lots of hope. This will be my 3rd time trying Atkins. Although I must say this is the longest i've stayed on a life style plan. All of the other changes I tried (WW, LA Weight Loss, Low Calorie, starving) have failed me. I want to read this to remind myself of what's important and how Atkins has effected others.

I have about 90 lbs to lose However for the first time in my life I have someone in it that is with me all the way He cooks most the meals, helps plan them, exercises with me every day at the apartment gym. I am up to 30 minutes on the treadmill now!!

Hi,
I am restarting my low carb lifestyle as of March 22,2006. I did very well on it 2 years ago and in about 6 months I lost about 55 lbs. Since then I started carbing and have gotten into trouble. My DH loves induction meals, lots of meat and green vegetables. He helps me by cooking low carb when he is the chef.
How long does one stay in induction if there is a lot of weight to loose?
I love the newbe site. Thanks to Linda and her menu's on the recipe site.

I'm new. I was on Atkins and lost about 90 lbs. but then I started to add more carbs and started the low carb candy bars, cereal bars and on and on. I gained about 25 lbs. so now I am back on induction. I've been on it for a week, and each time I want to eat something I think of those "rolls around my middle" that I want to loose. I also am trying to keep myself busy...I crochet and do cross stich and I need to keep my fingers busy. Haven't been on the scale yet, and thought I would wait until the 2 weeks are up. I think after 2 weeks, I'll still be on Induction since this works the best for me.

Hi Crafty17 glad to see you back.
How long did it take you to loose the 90lbs?
I like induction also, it really helps take the weight off faster!
I think we forgot that low carb is a lifestyle.

Welcome. I think I agree with you on the bars, etc. I think that was the mistake I made the first time around and I'm not going to do that again until I'm near or at goal. No frankenfoods this time.

Good luck and get those fingers working...LOL!

Hi all,
Thought I'd introduce myself. I live in Canada in the province of Quebec, DH and I have 5 children between us and 6 grandchildren. Have tried every diet known to man and just recently quit WW's for the upteenth time, was losing/gaining the same 10 pounds. Did Atkins several years ago and lost almost 30 pounds but went back to eating carbs and regained it all and some. I'm 5'5" and weight 186 lbs. (way too much) and in my later 50's. So I'm on my way on the low carb journey again. I've realized though that low carbing is really the only way for me. My goal weight is 125-130. Thanks. PennyD

Hi Honeysmom, PennyD, and Monkeyfrog,

Glad you came to this wonderful site. Most things you need can be found here.

I was taught that anything under 2 grams per serving is O.K.

If you look in the recipe section of Low Carb Friends or LindaKay's menu selection, you will probably be able to find recipes that you can make from scratch using splenda.

There is also the Century Club, that's a great place to talk about questions you have.

In the penpals area you can email other's living the low carb lifestyle. And you are always welcome to joins us in the penpal section for mistymoon.

What ever you do , visit this site as often as you can.

Good Morning!

I thought I'd stop "lurking" around and introduce myself! I'm not new to LC - just celebrated my 3rd Atkinsversary a month ago - I actually achieved my goal weight last summer (finally), but managed to fall into the 'ol "carb creep trap" over this past winter (dang it!) and gained back 10 lbs! So, now I'm working on getting those pesky pounds back off again.

I've been married to my DH for going on 24 yrs ( ), we have 5 children - only two left at home - and one beautiful 2-1/2 YO granddaughter .

I look forward to meeting new friends! I also look forward to trying many of the wonderful recipes I have seen here so far - YUM! Yep! This WOL/WOE is DEFINITELY not boring!

Newbie Ready to be a New Me

Newbie Ready to be a New Me

I am new here...LC for 1 1/2 weeks...I have lost a few pounds and feel incrediable! I did not do the induction phase. I am not specifically following a plan. I have taken bits and pieces of it all...been reading a lot on the internet and bought a food counter book...My weight starting out was somewhere around 299-298 and this morning I weighed in around 295. I like most of the rest of you have yo-yoed my whole life. I normally loose on low-fat diets but grow tired of them easily because I miss butter, cheese, peanut butter, mayo, ranch dressing, etc. I feel like I am depriving myself and once I loose a few pounds and feel a little better I figure I can cheat. Then I am completely off of it. I had heard critics say how unhealthy the low carb diets are for you but I started doing my own research. I was recently asked to be in my friend's wedding. She is petite, beautiful and a size 1. I was shocked that she even asked me because I figured I would embarass her on her big day. The other bride's maids are thin and beautiful too. I want to be beautiful and feel confident as I share this important day with my dear friend. The wedding is in December. I have about 7 and half months to accomplish some type of goal. I know even 50 pounds would make a difference. I would like to loose somewhere between 100 and 150 pounds. I am not concerned with the number as much as I am concerned with the shape of my body and looking and feeling healthy. I found this website and am in awe by the pictures of each of you out there. I know that I can do this. For the first time EVER i really feel like I might finally gain victory over the monster that has haunted me for so long! I am here for support, encouragement and ideas. I want the next piece of real cake I eat to be at my friend's wedding. I want my self esteem back! I want my children to be proud of me and my husband to be proud to introduce his wife to his buddies at the fire station. I want to be proud of who I am again. Thanks for reading! Hope to talk to you soon.

hi shirley...i'm mp!

i am here for you too. like you, i need lots, tons of encouragement without scolding when i do fall. i too have problems with being overweight. i weighed in at 310 on may 1st. (but don't ask me how i am doing, as i keep having more oopsies that i care to admit.) i did manage to lose 4 pounds as of today. how, i will never know?!

i put on an extra 17 pounds during the holidays that brought me to that amount. now that 17 is my goal to get removed first. i feel awful when i go over 300. not only physically but emotionally. i can't walk, showering, bathroom duties, and dressing is a problem. i can't breathe. my husband and i went for a walk around the block, and i huffed and puffed the whole way, besides the major strain on my back and hips. what doesn't help matters either is, I FEEL OVERWEIGHT! i feel every single ounce that is on this skeletal frame.

i've done atkins before, back in 2003, for 6 weeks...lost 19+ pounds; 293 to 274 and 10 inches over all. then blew it! so i know that i can do this, but i am currently stuggling. i am so frustrated with myself, that i reached for my atkins book on my night stand once again to re-read and gain some fine tuning, and perhaps some self incentive. for today, i didn't do too terribley bad. tomorrow i hope to do abit better.

shirley, if you ever want to yak or want a email buddy. just let me know.

kindest regards,
~~mp
