Day 1 of the 6 day body makeover

Well, I'm going to post my experience here. Mostly to keep my self accountable.
Yesterday was Day 1 of the 6 day Body makeover. I feel great this morning. Lot's of energy. I woke easily (which is always a challenge for me)

Yesterday's menu:

Meal 1: 3 scrambled egg whites, 1/2 grapefruit w/ splenda and cinnamon
Meal 2: 2 oz chicken Breast, 1 cucumber
Meal 3: 3 oz chicken Breast, 1 spinach, 1/2 cup brown rice
Meal 4: 3 oz canned tuna rinsed, 2 cups mixed greens
Meal 5: 2 oz talipia baked w/ low sodium tomato sauce and oregano, 1/2 c rice, 1 cup okra
PM snack: 1/2 cup sliced stawberries/blackberries w/ splenda
Beverages: 2 cups black coffee, 2 iced coffees w/ SF Vanilla, 1 iced green tea
8 liters water, 8 oz diet rite.

Getting through the day without SALT...wow. I thought it would be a lot more difficult. I'm a salt fiend! I eat it on everything! and drink a ton of diet Pepsi full of sodium. But it wasn't too bad. Dropping all that salt should help let go of the water weight!
I don't use a scale (it just frustates me), so I won't be measuring progress with weight. The book says down 1 dress or pant size in 6 days. So that will be my measurement....

I'm watching your progress with great interest. Good luck. Are you allowed any condiments instead of salt? I can't imagine just plain scrambled egg whites.

You can use spices not containing salt. I have every flavor of Mrs. Dash you can imagine!

I did his 6 week program and lost 18 lbs. Trader Joe's has great salt free seasonings much cheaper than Mrs. Dash and a large variety.
Good luck

Tyler - good luck - keep us updated!!!

Maya - thanks for the hint - i just tried one flavor of Mrs. Dash and didn't like it, I hate to keep spending $3+ on a bottle of seasoning and not liking it - I'll have to try trader joes- any particular one you recommend?

thanks

Angela, I get the Steak and chop seasonings, 21 seasoning Salute and seafood. They are very flavorful and at only $1.49.

Hi, Good luck, I'll be watching your progress, you'll find that the 6 days go quickly. I'm really watching my carbs carefully now, but otherwise, I think it's good to do this 6 day diet every so often. Hang in there.

Day 2...woo hooo

Made it through Day 2 yesterday. I have to admit I feel really good.
Yesterday's meal plan was pretty much the same as Day 1. I had 3 oz homemade turkey sausage (a recipe from the book) for breakfast instead of the bland egg whites and baked 3 oz Talipia instead of the tuna, but the rest was pretty much the same.
The lack of salt is tough. I bought a salt substitute (although I've always HATED those). It helped with the turky and chicken, but wasn't so great on the veggies
I miss BUTTER and it's only been 2 days. By far the hardest part for me is choking down the rice twice a day. I REALLY don't like rice. It says in the book not to substitute and I won't...but I'm wondering what effect it would have if I cut it down to 1/4 c instead of a half.

I'm adjusting slowly to the taste of Diet Rite. I understand diet 7 up is also made with Splenda and low in sodium....I'll have to take a look at that.

On C'est Moi's glowing recommendation I bought the beginner's Yamuna ball. It arrived yesterday and I 'messed with it' Didn't really do a whole work out because I got home late (and this diet is lot's of cooking!) but tested it out and OH MY! I did only 5 of the lower back/abdominal exercises and I could feel such a release of tension (sit in an office chair 11-12 hours a day). It felt so awesome! And still pretty relaxed this morning! I can't wait until tonight to try a full workout!

Keep going as you sound like you're doing OK. I was put on a low sodium diet (1200 mgs. or less) and I agree with you about the taste of those salt substitutes - AWFUL. I have all the Mrs. Dash salt mixtures and some I can tolerate so no way. The just salt substitutes are just potassium which surprised me when I read the ingredients.

Way to go! Keep going....

I'm amazed at how much you can eat on this plan!! A one-day menu about equals to two of my days on induction.

It is a lot. But it's the additonal veggies that I'm allowed because my body type can handle additional carbs. But when you look at it....2 oz of chicken is a piece about the size of a matchbook.

I have to say though, it's an awful lot to carry around with you when 4 of your meals are eaten at work!

I REALLY want some butter though....4 more days!

and I'm so accustomed to SALT...on everything! It all just seems really bland without it...except for the turkey sausage! That's yummy and spicy...it would be so much better though fried in oil instead of in a non stick pan with nothing

oh yeah...and I took some 'before' pictures this morning Granted I'm already starting day 3-should have taken them before, but I can see the difference already (the amount of flub that hangs over the side of my jeans is less now than it was on Sunday). I'm starting the ball rolling officially today so I wanted before shots for that.

Tyler,

you are doing awesome!! keep up the good work. It's so nice to have someone I "know" trying this plan as opposed to reading testimonials by other people.

I just borrowed this book from a friend and am very interested in how it works for you. Are you following the long, slow distance exercise program? I find this really weird because I don't feel like I'm really working up a sweat like I do when I'm doing a high-intensity workout.

I just need to find the six days that I can commit to trying this. If you've seen Extreme Makeove, it seems that Michael Thurmond knows what he's doing.

Day 3 under my belt!

Made it through Day 3 yesterday!
and guess what!? I'm SEEING a difference. It's most noticable in my belly always the hardest for me and my upper arms.
Yesterdays meal was the same as the previous 2...changing up the veggies a bit and I DID drop that rice back a bit...yuck...but still ate some. Dropped the PM fruit (which on the diet is optional) because I just couldn't eat any more. You do get really tired of eating!
I'm halfway there! Woo-hoo. I feel great, ton of energy, sleeping well.

and for the question about slow distance..I'm not doing it. I walk a lot living in NYC, not much of a choice, so I've just been walking more. (Walk to the train instead of the bus, etc.) but I officially started body rolling last night..(thank you C'est Moi!) what great excercise!..you can immediately feel the difference in your flexibility. I mean IMMEDIATELY, before you even get up off the floor! I didn't even break a sweat, but I have sore (good sore) abs this morning!

Okay...end of day 4....and I cheated not with food! Today's menu was exactly the same......oooh. Except for one of my 'turkey' meals. I crumbled up the turkey sausage over lettuce. Yumm that was good! But I had a REEEEALLLY rough day (well, week) at work, and I find out at 5:00 DBF will not be home until Sunday when he was supposed to come home tonight (Been away for three weeks with the exception of last weekend when he came home Friday night and left Sunday morning)

So anyway--to make a long story short, I put a shot of Vodka in my freakin' sodium free Diet Rite!...now I'm going to go eat my dang chicken..and unsalted, unbuttered brocolli and choke down as much stupid plain brown rice as I can.

Can you tell this has been a tough one????

Sounds so interesting. I really think I'd be starving on such a low fat diet. It's interesting to hear that you feel like you are not hungry.
The ball rolling sounds intersting too. I need to stay off the Playground and check in here more often!

oops-is it called Body Rolling?

Thanks for the support! I'm back on track today...I won't let my momentary lapse get me down. Only had one shot of Vodka...really wanted 12! (Would that be portion control?? LOL)

The body rolling is so awesome! I think I'm addicted! My back feels so good! I've been a long hours, sit in a chair, hunched over a computer type worker for 22 years! It really takes a toll on your back. They say you'll results within a few days. I could feel the results right away. After the first 1/2 hour work out I did, the next morning I bent over to blow dry my hair and my head went all the way to my knees! with no effort. After 2 workouts I can lay flat on my back and can no longer drive a truck through the arch!. The tension between my shoulder blades is easing up (I'm only doing lower back/abs because my book hasn't gotten here yet) and my abs are sore! all while relaxing and not even breaking a sweat!
There's a body rolling thread on the challenge board. and C'est Moi has a blog where she's recording pictures and her progess. Stop in!

I used to sit on one of those balls at work instead of a chair...pretty soon, everyone in the office had one. We got some strange looks, but it is very comfortable and you can move while sitting at the computer

I might have to get one of those! Although I think the body rolling is different. It's a small 10 inch ball (for beginners) that you put under various body parts and perform certain movements. There are smaller sizes for other differenent body parts and degrees of difficulty.
I've seen folks working out at the gym with the bigger 'chair siize' ones.
