I wish I had done it 40 lbs ago. Now I'm stuck because I don't have the $7000 to go to a surgeon with lots of experience.

The augmentation in addition to the lift is done because even after a lift the tops of the breasts can still be flat. I can't fit correctly into any bras (regular or push up) because they are so long and flat on the top.
These are some great responses. I have been maintaining for months now, but I wouldn't have the guts to do it if I were not at goal and maintaining. I would be afraid that the loss after the lift would make them sag again. My dr wanted to be SURE I am maintaining before my lift. To me, that is important.

About the insurance-- I think it is worth it to buckle down and pay the $, and not have insurance covering it, knowing you are able to maintain without worry about losing more or gaining etc. My ins wouldn't pay either. And I KNOW they would have paid for a reduction before I lost this weight. But with the weight loss I lost alot of breast tissue and am only left with skin. So I don't qualify for a reduction now, because I don't have enough breast tissue to REMOVE any, but I do have enough breast tissue to make a small C compact boob instead of a long stretched out one.

She went to Dr. Cummings. He was the first PS I saw. I'm sure he does a wonderful job, but his work is no different than any other "after" pics I saw. All he did was figure out a way to make more money, by doing the lift first ($7,000) then make you wait 6 months and do implants ($4,500). I also wasn't impressed with him as a doctor. I didn't like the way he talked to me. He used the word "Duh" too much for my liking. Didn't seem professional. He talked too fast as well. I felt like just another number to him.

I have read alot of websites regarding augmentation. Most advise that you lose your weight first, especially if you have alot to lose.

I am by no means able to pay for my lift/implants with cash. My DH allowed me to do this because he knows how much it bothers me. Taxes and a few months of payments will pay them off. After all, he gets new trucks and boats that we finance for years. It's only fair that I get a treat too.

I'm going to a Christmas party tonight. I'll have pics taken and post them.

Wow, that is odd that you know his name...small town, huh? I am not positive that is who it was, unless he is the only PS in that town, which wouldn't surprise me. Her recovery was pretty fast and went well, but she wishes she had gone a little bigger. I tease her, because she is 67, and got them at 65. We laugh about her lying in her coffin one day, but still having these perky boobs, lol! She did not have a lift, BTW, only implants. Stinks that he would not do it all ot one time for you, though. So do you live even further toward Morehead from Kinston?

Actually, the autoimmune risk is almost nil with the saline implants. Yes, the shell is silicone, but it is stable and inert -- it doesn't leech into the body. Silicone *gel* is NOT inert, and it does leak out -- I know this firsthand from the head of compliance at a silicone implants company (who is my friend.) My surgeon confirmed this info, too.

One word regarding the pain... It is far worse if you are going much larger (like I did, from AA to C) than it is if you are only going up a size or so, or if you have loose skin. I was literally flat on my back for 2 weeks post-op.... but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

exactly. DH spends an enormous amount of $ on his motorcycle, and he agreed that I work hard, have worked hard to get off this weight, and if I need this for me then I deserve to have it.

Cathy:

Do you live in or around Kinston? We live in very rural north-eastern NC (although originally from Hampton, Virginia) and my daughter goes to school in Greenville. It really is a small world. I figured hardly anybody knew where Kinston was.

I'm not Cathy, but my mom and aunt were born and raised in Kinston, and my grandmother still lives there. We went to Atlantic beach every summer growing up, and now I take my own kids there every summer (even though we have lived in TX, IN, OK, and FL). Not much going on there these days...

I live 15 miles from Morehead City. As far as I know, Dr. Cummings is the only PS in Kinston. He's a very well known doctor. At all the BA websites, his name always comes up for Kinston, NC. I travelled 2.5 hrs to my doctor that did my implants this week. I have to travel all that way again Monday and again in a month. That is OK with me because I'm a big city girl living in a little town. I get my shopping fix.

I was a 42 d back in 1997. My breasts were large, pendalous, (meaning hanging waayyy south). I had lost about 45 pounds doing atkins but could stand to lose about 40 more at least at that point. I consulted a plastic surgeon, discussed the shoulder pains, back aches, etc.... he took pictures and sent the request into the insurance company. It got approved the first time! I just ran across the Dr. Bill today, the insurance company paid him 100%. I went from a 42 d to a 38 b when all was said and done. I looked and felt sooo much better. I have no regrets, yes their smaller than some might like, but they are perky and look natural. I did lose alot of feeling around the areola. It takes alot of strong manipulation" by my dh's hands and er well mouth before I 'feel" anything. But it can happen.
In regards to having the insurance company pay for. it. I have heard some say that you really have to have many documented "ailments" caused by having extra large breasts in your medical charts before they will consider it.
msmeka- I live in Austin also, I have a name of a good plastic surgeon.

My friend that got her implants last summer consulted a doctor in Kinston, probably the same one. She ended up chosing a PS in the Suffolk/Chesapeake area instead. She is really happy with her results.

I know what you mean about the shopping fix. I was used to living 10 minutes from the mall. Then we moved to NC. Where we live now is not exactly a shopping metropolis. Normally I drive an hour and 15 minutes to shop in Norfolk or Chesapeake. But I'm going to pick my daughter up in Greenville tomorrow. Major shopping will be done!

i have to say i dont understand why people have all these "corrective" surgeries before goal either????? I have nothing against them, in fact if i ever run into some money and I am at goal I will have a TT and a lift!!

Wendysmiling, I have the same problem as you. Flat at the top and I can't fill out a bra properly. I had a reduction done 16 years ago, and was totally happy with the results. But over the last 4 years or so I've noticed that my boobs started "sliding", or bottoming out (kinda like holding up a water balloon - all the weight is at the bottom!) But the thing that bothers me the most is that my nipple didn't slide AT ALL. They're way too high on my chest now. They also have full sensation (unfortunately) and I can "poke" thru anything (haven't tried Kevlar (sp) yet, but I'll bet money I'd poke thru that too!), so I wear these Breast Petals by Maidenform. They're like a big bandaid that's shaped like a 70's "flower power" symbol. They work great, but I don't want to do that for the rest of my life! At the rate these suckers are sliding, my nipples are gonna wind up on my collar bone one day!

But this spring my DH and I are checking into having small implants put in at the top of my boobs. We're big time boaters, and I'm sick of tankini's, and even sicker of being self conscious over my nips being too high! ARGH!!

If I had lots of money I would have a lift and a tummy tuck. My tummy has a lot of loose skin and looks like a pooch.

However my poor girls are the worst! I went from a DDD to a D with the weight loss. My preference would be to be a full C but I would be very happy just to have them lifted as I have teeny shoulders and arms and then these girls down to my stomach

When finances are a little better here I may look into a lift.

On the other hand I have an aunt who is 60, was always very well endowed, probably a DD at least at about 5'1 or so. She just had a reduction/lift to a C and she is thrilled. Says she wishes she did it long ago.

Great thread, thanks!

When you have a lift without tissue reduction, which is what I'm having, they will remove SKIN, but no breast tissue. So with the skin removal, your cup size will go down. AT least mine will.. from a D/DD to a small C. Right now the only thing that is filling up that D/DD is all this nasty skin.
