Michael Thurmond...
Has anyone tried Michael Thurmond's programs? From what I can gather about bits and pieces that I have seen about his plans, they are low carb.....I want to know if it is worth investing in? Any suggestions?
Thanks! Juniper ![]() Last edited by juniper01; 12-05-2004 at 08:30 AM.. |

His plans are not really low carb. You eat more carbs on his plan that you would Atkins. But the portions are VERY limited. There are various body types but the bottom line is all are aiming to lose weight. For my body type I was only allowed 2 ounces of protein at a meal. You eat 6 times a day, but 2 ounces was too hard for me. I was used to Lean for Life where I got 3.5 ounces at each meal.
His plan works because you eat very little and cut out all dairy and salt (and fat). |

I don't like the meal plans at all, but the targeted exercises are great (determined by the body blueprinting). I wish there was some way to buy the exercise tapes separate from the whole program, but, alas, there isn't.
(no added fat, salt, or dairy = I'm NOT interested. PLUS, no egg yolks, ONLY the whites!!! ) |

I have his program and when I've done it, it works like a dream come true. HOWEVER - it is very hard to follow. You need to prep your food well in advance and forget eating out, it's just not possible.
I ate brown rice and sweet potatoes on his plan, so not low carb. I also missed the fat - using just vinegar on salad gets old quick. |

Just wanted to mention, for those who want to do his exercise and not the program, HSN sells the Michael Thurmond Accellerated Body Sculpting Program on their website for 29.9? plus shipping. Dont have it, but I know there is a video and two exercise bands.........

I bought the 6 week body makeover and IMO it was a waste of money.....Not a WOL, just a "diet". Limited portions, food was bland, lost weight quickly but again, for me, impossible (and probably not healthy) to follow long term. I may be interested in his exercise program though. I still use the exercise bands that came with the makeover program!! Good Luck!

The band are great if you do not work out any. I have done free weights for about 6 months before purchasing this product. I thought that the bands would offer more resistant and be able to target certain areas. I was very disappointed..even with the highest resistant band (this come with 3 different levels of resistant when purchased on HSN) I jsut wasn't feeling it. So I am not back to my South Beach plan, my treadmill for cardio and my free weight for resistant and I have no complaints at all.

I think that dude is the absolute bomb. But I didn't try the program. 2 yrs ago my mom and aunt did the eating program and lost a good amount of weight and it was THEM that inspired me to get my weight off. Now they have gained their weight back, probably because it was too hard to follow like you all said. A program has GOT to be do-able.
I still really like Michael Thurman. |

Yes, it works. But for me it was too hard to follow. You have to eat about every two hours and are very limited to what you can eat. Very bland - no sugar/no salt/no fats. I like my salt and just can't give it up. I seemed to be hungry most of the time. Low carbing is the only way for me. But somebody else may find this way of eating to be just what they needed. I still think Michael Thurman is wonderful and has some good ideas with regard to exercise.

I wanted to follow up...I do think his plan is good and after looking at it further, even though he only allows 2 ounces of protein at a meal, if you use the calculations that have been going around this board that's about right for how much I should be getting a day. He also says, basically, that vegetables are unlimited.
I don't like the no fat/no salt/no dairy part. However, his diet is what I will base my maintenance off of. For my body type I'm supposed to have a carb with every meal. I believe I can convert to his plan, igorning the no fat/no salt/no dairy, and keeping my protein portions around 3.5 ounces, and still have ongoing weight loss. Basically following low carb but adding a grain to each meal. I'm already used to eating 6 times a day. Though right now I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks (snacks consist of a protein source so are easy to manage...like a string cheese. Or hard boiled egg). |

I posted this to the other Michael Thurman threads also......... for those interested.
Any one interested ..... Michael Thurman will be back on HSN on May 23 and May 24. His program is not on the site right now because it sold out. It was the best buy for the money.... you got alot of extras, unfortunately I missed it.... I am considering ordering on this next try (if the offer is still as good as it was).... Is anyone going to start a regular posting of achievement with this program??? Just wondered, if I get it........ The Provida boards are informative, but, I like it here better!!!! Vicki
