Yes, 1000 mg is 1/2 tsp. Large amounts of cinnamon can cause hypoglycemia, so be careful. Also, some people notice constipation when taking cinnamon.

There is a filling machine you can buy to help fill empty capsules yourself. One is called Capsuline; you can do a search and find more about it.

I just want to add that cinnamon is a great natural diuretic; some of the initial weight loss you might see when you first start taking it may be water weight.

Everyone has to use their own judgement in using Cinnamon. From all that I have read, regular ole cinnamon that you get at the store is just as good as the extract. Anyway, we'll see how it works, because that is what I am using.

I just downsized my cinnamon amt into my green tea. 1/2 tsp as opposed to 1 tsp. It's much better! Do you think it's okay to have 1/2 tsp in the morning and 1/2 tsp in the evening? Or should I drink 2 cups of tea in the morning to get it all at once?

I know that I split mine up. I am pretty sure others do, too.

Priest - Good info about cinnamon! I didn't know that! Mine is actually from Pampered Chef and it is "Korintje" cinnamon. The ingredients list just says "ground cinnamon". We always buy the Pampered Chef kind because it is strong and very good. Since it is working, I am just going to stick with it!

How do you guys get the cinnamon to dissolve? Last nite, I added some to my coffee and it ended up floating on top and a blob in the bottom of the cup. I put it in hot water???
Thanks

When I filled my own capsules, I just put the cinnamon in a bowl and scooped the capsule into the cinnamon and put the other side on.

I just stir, stir, stir. And I keep the spoon nearby and stir again while I am drinking. I stir with a folding-like method, like you do when folding whipped egg whites into something. Hope this helps!

My weight went up a bit today (I am thinking due to some extra sodium over the weekend) so my net loss last week was also 1.5 lbs. That is after no loss at all for 2 weeks. So I am going to keep up the cinnamon this week!

Everyone ... don't forget to post your stats on the "Cinnamon Users Stats" thread!

I love, love, love cinnamon. I've already read that things that are spicy (hot sauce, cayenne pepper) will up your metabolism, so I try to add these things to my morning eggs or other dishes. I figure I can use every edge I can find

I'm down 4 pounds in a week since adding 1 tsp. of cinnamon to my morning protein shake. I'm also pretty strict in my diet and exercise like crazy, so I can't be certain it was just the cinnamon that did the trick, but I was stalled for a while and now I'm not.

Ok, the calculations seem all wrong to me. I have the 500 mg capsules, which say to take them twice a day. The first day I was down 4 lbs after doing this. Those capsules are huge, and are full of cinnamon. I can NOT believe it would take 9 of those to make a teaspoon. Can some one help me out here? I am way confused. Math is not my forte.

Wickie, I used an online calculator, and based on Lynn and Linda's input we have determined that 9 capsules are INCORRECT as posted above.

2 caps at 500mg = 1/2 tsp
4 caps = 1 tsp

Thanks!

Thanks MsMeka! I found mine at Walgreen's--100 caps for $7.49 (on sale--reg. $9.99). I thought I found a good deal, but sounds like yours was even better!

For those who also drink protein shakes, I added 1 tsp to my vanilla shake with 1 tsp sf vanilla syrup and it was delicious. That was two hours ago, and I'm not the slightest bit hungry.

taslucas: I really beleive that Cinnamon helps keeps you from getting hungry. I know it is suppose to help regulate your blood sugar, therefore no hunger as often. Isn't that great.

I'm not sure if it's the cinnamon or the shake, or the combination of both - but it's nice not to be feeling like snacking or anticipating lunch all morning! I think I've found my new breakfast

I've just realized I can add sf eggnog instead of vanilla...with the cinnamon I can have eggnog for breakfast!

Thanks again for the original post and info!
