i did some experimenting with my cinnamon today and discovered two things that may or may not be helpful
![]() 1) 12-14 shakes of a McCormick container of cinnamon is about a teaspoon 2) if you add the cinnamon to tea, leave the spoon in your cup and stir it occasionally so all the cinnamon doesn't float to the top/sink to the bottom i'm excited to see if this cinnamon idea helps at all! |

Do you all know the dangers of cinnamon?
Like don't take it while pregnant? it is an abortive agent and can cause bleeding and premature birth. especialy in early pregnacy. thats the main danger, it can also cause bleeding out of your menstral cycle or extra heavy bleeding because it effects the uterus. ok just had to say! good luck! ![]() |

I bought the capsules today at walmart. $4.95 in with the vitamins and supplements. They are 500mg each and says to take them twice a day with meals. 100 capsules in the bottle so thats a good deal.

I have been taking them to control my blood sugar. Since I started taking them 3 days ago, my feet have not itched, and I think they were itching because of high bs. I made my own by buying the capsules and puttting the cinnamon in them. I saw them at the store, but they were 12.98 and I got 100 capsules and a jar of cinnamon for 5.00. I am taking one capsule in the morning and one in the evening. I don't know about weight loss, as I haven't weighed myself lately.

MrsJackSprat,
Sorry, I din't see that you were kidding. We almost lost our daughter to her reaction to her blood sugar going to low. She was taking 5 shots a day, and I have been very concerned about all Diabetics. She is type 1 Diabetic, since see became full blown at 20 years old. She had to have the pump put in because she couldn't control her Blood Sugar. ![]() |

Belleflower, thanks for that info about cinnamon being dangerous if you are pregnant. I am not pregnant, but am considering it some time in the next year. GOOD TO KNOW!!!

Good things to remember - thank you for the cautions. I'm going to try adding just a little of this to my diet and see what happens. Currently, I drink a little Hood's Choc Milk every morning with my vitamins (with some flax seed oil mixed in), and this morning I added a little cinnamon to it... YUMMMMMMMMM!!! What a treat!

Ketosisgirl - I haven't been able to use a full tsp of cinnamon in any of my concoctions (with cream cheese or peanut butter). So it sounds like you mixed too much cinnamon with your cream cheese. I don't know how much I mixed with my cream cheese and vanilla syrup, but I know it wasn't a full tsp. I will measure it next time and let you know. Because mine was quite yummy. |

I am not insuling dependent. As a matter of fact, I wish I could get my numbers DOWN. Can't even get below 160 in the a.m. Hopefully the cinnamon will help. ![]() |

I agree with you DM2. A full teaspoon is too much. I also cut down to a-half teaspoon.

Hmmmm, very interesting about the cinnamon. I will give it a try. I have also heard that cayenne pepper increases metabolism.

Wickie - Good for you!
Attention Walgreens shoppers...LynnB found Cinnamon capsules at her store in Orlando, but there were none to be found at my local store. However, they ordered me some! Last edited by bethany; 11-07-2004 at 02:20 PM.. |
