Can using old cinnamon make you sick or is it just the fact that any of the good things it does for you, won't work? Just curious. I've had little containers of it in my cabinets for years (4, 5, 6?) and only used it during the holidays, guess I'm bad. I have enjoyed using it in my coffee with sugar free whipped cream every morning. I've been losing, but I've been really focused on losing also, so I'm not really sure if the cinnamon has helped or not, but does taste yummy

Things I wonder about the efficacy of:
1. Sprinkling it over coffee grounds, or espresso, and brewing or extracting the resulting delicious beverage. Think there'd be any benefit there? It tastes of cinnamon but does that mean the beneficial compounds actually make it into the cup, or are they still there on the grounds? 2. Cinnamon toothpaste. I use Tom's of Maine Cinnamint flavor (which has NO mint in it! I hate mint and can't understand why that was the only toothpaste flavor option for so long!) One of the posts in this thread said it had an antiseptic effect when used in toothpaste, a la clove or tea tree oil... but do you think that's from the cinnamon OIL which apparently doesn't have any thermogenic effects and is probably what they use to make the toothpaste? I think brushing one's teeth with the powdered stuff would be counterproductive. 3. Those Altoids cinnamon breath strips. I adore them and assume there is no health benefit from them, but does anybody know otherwise?

There is a hypothyroid message board I read, and there are some ladies there very knowledgable about cinnamon. But they say to only supplement with it if your fasting glucose is on the high side, or it could cause problems.
Anyone heard this? |

I'm taking the cinnamon capsules from netrition, 2 in the morning, 2 at night. This was my third week.
So far I'm just not sure if it's having weight loss benefits. The jury is still out. Cindy T |

Mine's not slimy but I do keep my spoon and stir often. The sludge at the bottom isn't too good.

Yes, it does go to the bottom. If you stir it pretty often this will take care of it....

I used to take the cinnamon every day but it seemed like my TOM was horrific then. So I quit. Anyone else stay on it that had this problem and it got better or it just didn't happen to them? Could have been coincidence. I would like to start taking them again. Update any new info. you may have any please. thank you.

I haven't had any problems with my TOM. I have read though that if you are taking blood thinners to be very very careful.

I have LOW blood sugar and since on atkins...i have felt so much better and no crashes!!! i don't test my blood sugar, but did do the 7 hour ordeal...and at the 4th hour I bottomed out at 42...and was about to pass out....therefore they stopped the test and gave me a coke and some peanut butter crackers.
SO...with all that....does anyone have HYPO...and has the cinn. helped?? |
