Former WW seeking so cal pen pal

HI I am new to low carbing...lost 32lbs on weight watchings in a year...got stuck and decided to try low carbing..I lost a few pounds and now I just cant seem to stay focused. I am looking for people in the orange country area that can help me stay focused. And maybe enjoy some low carb lunches with me and do some active things with me like hiking. My biggest problem is when I am alone..I tend to go off track....and I NEED to get more active but dont like doing it alone and my fiance lives to far and I dont get to see him often enough for him to go with me. If anyone in the area is interested in a low carb friend or just a low carb pen pal let me know! I am 21 and work in nursing. I live in costa mesa/ santa ana area.

hugs
LORI

Hi!
I don't live in Orange County (I live in Las Vegas) but would love to give you some encouragement or whatever. I hate to exercise by myself, too. If I don't have anyone, I'd rather sit on the couch and watch tv. Which is how I got into this mess in the first place, I think. I mean, one day, pictures came back and I couldn't believe that was me! Now, though, I take my daughter to school and just keep driving to the park. So it's not too bad. And i have really good music (she made me a walking cd) to keep me moving. I tried the lowfat/calorie counting way of life. And did pretty good. I lost 30 lbs. since October. But then it started creeping up again. So now I'm looking to lose another 30 or 40 lbs. I haven't decided yet. I hope you stick to this and find some support closer to home but I am here if you want to talk. Sorry for being so chatty! I tend to get like this late afternoon!

thanks for responding..would love to chat with you! Hows life in vegas? I love it there! Planning a trip there again soon. How old is your daughter? How long have you been low carbing? how much have you lost so far? any tips and advice? I got down to 215 (from 218) in my 3 rd week on atkins..I gained it back when I went off program and now no matter how hard I try I cant even get back to 215..I am stuck at 217...for 2 weeks now! HELP!

Hi, Lori!
I've actually only been doing this for a week. I don't know how much I weigh right now because the one time I weighed myself (like the 3rd day) I only lost 1 lb. Not happy, me. I started at 198 in October and swore I would not reach 200! I went on a lowcal/lowfat diet and hated it but I did manage to lose 30 lbs. It started creeping back on, though, and that's why I decided to do Atkins. Now I'm at 162 and holding. Maybe you're stuck because you're eating some hidden carbs? I found sugar in the weirdest places! Or maybe your metabolism is just stuck and needs a jump start. I'm not sure how you would do that, though. Maybe fasting for a day? Wow! Now you've really got me puzzled. I went to Costa Mesa once and it's very pretty. Actually, I love California except for the earthquake thing. I used to live in San Francisco. It's the perfect time of year for Las Vegas, though. Summers suck!
Rambling again. What do you do in Orange County? I'll get back to you on the stuck thing. Have a great day!

I just finished reading the atkins book...it gave me some advice on why I might be stuck..I will try a few of the suggestions..hopefully something works...
I am gonna go get my thryoids checked..its something I have been wondering about for a long time...I have most of the symptoms of hypothyroidism and my mother does have it..so its very likely I do too...doesnt hurt to get it checked out right?
I work in nursing at fountain valley hospital....I work nights thats the hard part..makes it very hard to be on a regular shedule and to diet or lose weight..I work 11pm-730am 5 nights a week!...HELP I need a new job! lol
hope you are having a good day!

hugs
