36 YO male looking to lose ~60lbs
I'm at 220 now, lost about 15 so far. I'm missing camaraderie is my new challenge. Brief story, lost down to about 160 low carbing about 4 years back and let it creep back on because I started caring about my career more than my health. How stupid is that? So I know what working with me, I just need to follow through. So I would let to make one or a few comrades, male or female, to share experiences with. Could be with email or whatever. I'm not sure how this pen pal thing works. I know I don't want it posted on a public bulletin board though! :-D . I'll warn you that I'm not uptight at all, very easy going and nonjudgmental. I can use colorful language at times
. I am not the Christian type at all, but I welcome all colors, creeds, religions and non religions. I just want someone (persons) who want to lose and share their experiences in the process so I have someone to share it with. Someone(persons) who are respectful at all times, but not afraid to get a little tough if I'm eating something stupid. All the people in my life are either thin and fit or overweight and don't care . My eating plan is generally to eat low carb but I do have things that some people consider no-no's like low carb tortillas and low carb bars. Sugar alcohols and low carb products (that I was careful about) never seemed to make me stall. I plan on exercising every other day, and am excited that I finally fixed my elliptical by replacing the computer console. I've been lifting weights for about 2 weeks now (at home) and plan on taking it up at the gym that I've been a member of (thank you work benefits!) for a while but have only been about 2 or 3 times in 6 months . So any takers? The main things for me are mutual respect and a PMA (positive mental attitude!) . Good luck to everyone else out there! |

Hi QO - My name is Su! (short for Susan) I tried up to connect with some women near my age which went great for about a week but they just dropped out of sight. It's no fun having yourself as a pen pal so I am looking for someone more reliable.
We seem to have similar goals as far as weight loss is concerned. I definitely have a PMA - although most of my coworkers/employees refer to it as a 3O - an obnoxiously optimistic outlook LOL. I'm doing pretty well on Atkins thus far however I have only been doing this for slightly over 2 weeks. I am down 11 lbs and feeling very good. Lots of energy! Although I have previously lost weight with this eatin program I made the mistake of looking at it as a short term fix instead of a permanent change in my eating habits. That makes all the difference! I feel an extraordinary level of commitment toward making these changes - I can tell because I have not told anyone about what I am doing. I am so dedicated that I don't want anyone else's input - I am resolute! It feels good to be commited to something that can only help me. So QO - tell me about yourself and your current goals and challenges. I have great suggestions. I am also an outstanding cheerleader :- Wishing you much success, Su |

Well howdy Sue. Sounds good to me. I guess I am awaiting the 25post/25 day rule here to be considered legit, maybe we can trade email/private messages after that. I don't mind people seeing my posts but I rarely put anything very personally identifying on the internet. Not with billions watching!
. Yeah I know, that's a little paranoid, but it's one reason I don't mind cussing and discussing and cheering people on, but would prefer the pen pal route for an option to having a weight loss buddy(ies). Anyway glad you responded. Looks like you are off to a good start. Low carb worked for me once and I'm sure it will again! I'm sure it'll work for you too if you stick in there. Check my profile for the basics, and my intro message of course. My goal is to attempt to lose 2-3 lbs a week until it's gone, so I guess that puts me out several months into the spring or so . I still haven't hit the gym yet. I need to do that, but I've been pretty good about exercising at home. It's nice to work out at home without worrying about wearing flip flops into the shower and no one is watching other than my cats who want me out of "their" room (my weightbench is in a small room that their bed and my storage is in ) take care! |

Way too much time on my hands!

Any room for another cheerleader?
![]() My food plan consists of moderate carbs with no grains and no cheese. I feel this is the best way to be successful and have less binge episodes. Good Luck to you! |
