A quick thought before I head off to the the gym (maybe this is a way of stalling.. haha)
There are numerous times throughout the New Testament that it indicates that Jesus went somewhere to be alone and pray to the Father. Luke 5:16 states that, "Jesus often withdrew to lonely placed and prayed." Jesus stayed in constant communication with the Father. There is no doubt that these times were filled with tears, anger and a regaining of strength. It was because of what Jesus did often that he can be looked at as a man of true character. What we do often becomes who we are. If I brush my teeth often, I become a person with healthy teeth. Jesus prayed often- and He was a man with a deep relationship with the Father. What are the things I do often? Do I spend time alone with God often, as Jesus did? Do I often practice being a person of self control by resisting the temptation to binge? Do I often drive through Sonic late at night and hide the bag under my car seat so I can throw it away when no one is looking? Ultimately my identity and who I am is found in the blood of Christ and the redemption He paid for me, but there is something to be said for the character that is continually formed by the things I do "often." For me, this journey is not simply about losing weight or even breaking a food addiction, it's about becoming a person of character who does what I said I am going to do, who often completes those things she starts... With that said, I put on my tennis shoes and head to the gym! |

Well done you!
Quote:
Habits are habits, we can choose good ones or bad ones. I think that once we get into a good habit, it's important to not deviate from it, especially if the deviation is one that we know will lead us out of the good habit. I guess that's what they mean by a carb addict! For me, I can never smoke a cigarette, because I will instantly become addicted again. For others, it's alcohol, etc. For myself, I think I turned a corner in the diet by following the advice of Dr. Atkins. By that, I mean that I did the induction for the recommended time and then added 5g of carbs for ONE kind of food each day for a week, whilst monitoring my weight, and so on. I believe that this is what you're supposed to do. I think that a lot of people end up doing the induction for a long time, and may also load up the calories by over-indulging in the allowable things, then getting tired of super low carbs, they end up going off the diet. Or else they completely eliminate carbs and don't eat their good veggies. I don't know of course, this is just what it seems to me, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong (hopefully). I'm glad to hear you're exercising. It's such a stress buster too, not to mention cranking up the metabolism. I will be praying for you! One more thing, cooking delicious, nutritious food at home can also become a good habit. I love to cook and I don't work outside the home (I paint, but it's at home) so I know that it's easier for me than for a lot of people. Even so, most people can do it if they try, and yes it can be a chore, but there are ways of making it easier, and once you make it a habit, it becomes easier because you get better and more efficient at it, the more you practice doing it. Whew, that was long winded of me! Hang in there sister! ![]()

I am here to joining you all.
It is nice to have Christian friends on this board to share our belief in God and not be punished for it. I was just reading in our paper today that some school was banning people from even saying grace at lunch time. My what has our nation come to. God lives in my heart and soul and He can never be taken away, If it ever comes to where I cannot pray out loud or say grace at dinner, I can always call on Him in silence and He can still hear me because He knows our hearts and thoughts to. So all those who want to take God out of everything, you are not really removeing Him from us Christians, because He lives within us and can never be destroyed or taken away from us. God Bless and have a great day in the Lord. http:// ![]() ______________________________________________ "Center of the Bible" What is the shortest chapter in the Bible? Hello All
Im a christian short woman
![]() Id love to join this group, Im rejoining the lowcarb family, I just had a baby boy and quit breastfeeding so im ready to shed some fluff. I also will be doing callanetics I ordered from ebay. So I guess I need to introduce myself Well my name is lori like it says, I have been divorced and have 2 kids from that marraige a daughter who is 10 and a son who is 9 I remarried 2 years ago on july 7th my husband has a daughter from a previous marraige she is 3 4 next month and we just had a baby boy togeth who is 6 weeks old tomorrow. I love to play drums and guitar, sing, paint, draw, work on the house, garden, cook, I love the outdoors, fish, camp, photography. I find it hard to exist sometimes in this world where so much is accepted in movies and music it drives me crazy when I am somewhere like walmart and I cant even feel conforatable with my kids there because of the language coming out of peoples mouths. Needless to say I have become a bold mommy I don't have trouble asking people not to cuss around me or my family. My daughter and son and husband recently in this past year got saved and it has made a huge change in our family and in my marraige. Ok so without telling my life story. Im so happy this thread was started now we can ask for prayer and talk about God without wondering if someone will be offended. Yay I cant wait to get more involved. Its been over a year now since ive been on lowcarb and ive gained everything back, but when i first started i lost about 50lbs in 7 months and i felt awesome. So im starting induction on monday so curve my cravings. I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome!
Welcome Lori. So glad you are here. Great news about your hubby and son. Praise God!
Tips I've learned about Atkins: Follow the rules!!! Also, I personally think it's better to not stay on induction too long, and don't forget to eat up those veg. Also, when you increase your carb amount, do it by 5 carbs a day in ONE food item or ONE new food item for a week to see how it goes, then another the next week, and so on. I weigh myself daily, so I can see immediately if I need to adjust anything... These make it much easier to stay on it! Hope this helps. Hugs, PP |

Here is some interesting reading for you today. Since we will be celebrating the 4th. of July tomorrow, America's Independence Day, These words from our founders just seemed appropiate.
Happy 4th. of July http:// ![]() __________________________________________ "Founding Fathers Quotes" Early Years The First Charter of Virginia (granted by King James I, on April 10, 1606) We, greatly commending, and graciously accepting of, their Desires for the Furtherance of so noble a Work, which may, by the Providence of Almighty God, hereafter tend to the Glory of his Divine Majesty, in propagating of Christian Religion to such People, as yet live in Darkness and miserable Ignorance of the true Knowledge and Worship of God… Instructions for the Virginia Colony (1606) Lastly and chiefly the way to prosper and achieve good success is to make yourselves all of one mind for the good of your country and your own, and to serve and fear God the Giver of all Goodness, for every plantation which our Heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted out. __________________________________________________ ____________________ 1-John Adams and John Hancock: We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! [April 18, 1775] 2-John Adams: “ The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.” [July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.” 3-"Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell." [John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817] | 4-Samuel Adams: | Portrait of Sam Adams “ He who made all men hath made the truths necessary to human happiness obvious to all… Our forefathers opened the Bible to all.” 5- "American Independence," August 1, 1776. Speech delivered at the State House in Philadelphia] “ Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity(GOD)… and leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system.” 6-John Quincy Adams: “Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day [the Fourth of July]?" “Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity"? John Quincy Adams-1837, at the age of 69, when he delivered a Fourth of July speech at Newburyport, Massachusetts. 7-“The Law given from Sinai [The Ten Commandments] was a civil and municipal as well as a moral and religious code.” John Quincy Adams. In a letter to his son. 8--Benjamin Franklin: “ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel” 9-Alexander Hamilton: Hamilton began work with the Rev. James Bayard to form the Christian Constitutional Society to help spread over the world the two things which Hamilton said made America great: (1) Christianity (2) a Constitution formed under Christianity. 10-Alexander Hamilton “The Christian Constitutional Society, its object is first: The support of the Christian religion. Second: The support of the United States.”, “I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me.”"For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests." "I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man." 11-John Hancock: “In circumstances as dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and Christians, to reflect that whilst every prudent measure should be taken to ward off the impending judgments, …at the same time all confidence must be withheld from the means we use; and reposed only on that God rules in the armies of Heaven, and without His whole blessing, the best human counsels are but foolishness……to humble themselves before God under the heavy judgments felt and feared, to confess the sins that have deserved them, to implore the Forgiveness of all our transgressions, and a spirit of repentance and reformation …and a Blessing on the … Union of the American Colonies in Defense of their Rights [for which hitherto we desire to thank Almighty God]…That the people of Great Britain and their rulers may have their eyes opened to discern the things that shall make for the peace of the nation…for the redress of America’s many grievances, the restoration of all her invaded liberties, and their security to the latest generations. Proclamation on April 15, 1775" 12-Patrick Henry: "Orator of the Revolution." • This is all the inheritance I can give my dear family. The religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed.” —The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Henry “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” [May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses]“The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed.”"Patrick Henry" 13-John Jay“Whether our religion permits Christians to vote for infidel rulers is a question which merits more consideration than it seems yet to have generally received either from the clergy or the laity. It appears to me that what the prophet said to Jehoshaphat about his attachment to Ahab ["Shouldest thou help the ungodly and love them that hate the Lord?" 2 Chronicles 19:2] affords a salutary lesson.” [The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay, 1794-1826 14-James Madison “ We’ve staked our future on our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all of our heart.” “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We’ve staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia] 15- I have sometimes thought there could not be a stronger testimony in favor of religion or against temporal enjoyments, even the most rational and manly, than for men who occupy the most honorable and gainful departments and [who] are rising in reputation and wealth, publicly to declare the unsatisfactoriness [of temportal enjoyments] by becoming fervent advocates in the cause of Christ; and I wish you may give in your evidence in this way. Letter by Madison to William Bradford (September 25, 1773) 16-- In 1812, President Madison signed a federal bill which economically aided the Bible Society of Philadelphia in its goal of the mass distribution of the Bible. “ An Act for the relief of the Bible Society of Philadelphia” Approved February 2, 1813 by Congress “It is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity toward each other.” 17- A watchful eye must be kept on ourselves lest, while we are building ideal monuments of renown and bliss here, we neglect to have our names enrolled in the Annals of Heaven. [Letter by Madison to William Bradford [urging him to make sure of his own salvation] November 9, 1772] 18-At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches. He discovered this model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he read Isaiah 33:22; “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us.” “Nor is there liberty if the power of judging is not separated from legislative power and from executive power. If it [the power of judging] were joined to legislative power, the power over life and liberty of the citizens would be arbitrary, for the judge would be the legislature if it were joined to the executive power, the judge could have the force of an oppressor. All would be lost if the same … body of principal men … exercised these three powers." Madison claimed Isaiah 33:22 as the source of division of power in government 19-Noah Webster: “ The duties of men are summarily comprised in the Ten Commandments, consisting of two tables; one comprehending the duties which we owe immediately to God-the other, the duties we owe to our fellow men.”“In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...*No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.*” (1828, in the preface to his American Dictionary of the English Language) Let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God [Exodus 18:21]. . . . *If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted *. . . If our government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws. (Noah Webster, The History of the United States) 20-“The Bible was America’s basic textbook in all fields.” (Noah Webster) “Education is useless without the Bible” (Noah Webster) 21-George Washington: Farewell Address: The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion" ...and later: "...reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle..." “ It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible.” (George Washington) “What students would learn in American schools above all is the religion of Jesus Christ.” (George Washington) During his inauguration, Washington took the oath as prescribed by the Constitution but added several religious components to that official ceremony. Before taking his oath of office, he summoned a Bible on which to take the oath, added the words “So help me God!” to the end of the oath, then leaned over and kissed the Bible. well im proud to say that John Adams and John Quincy Adams are relatives of mine on my moms side, im not sure how distant thought ive never looked that far for myself just my mom has. Anyways. I cant wait to get to go grocery shopping so I can get on track with my change of eating, tonight we are having a cookout at my sisters house then tomorrow after noon one at my aunts house then sunday my daughter gets baptized then monday is my birthday tuesday is me and the dh 2nd anniversary then wednesday is my dh birthday. It makes it really crazy. I cant believe this summer vacation is almost over but im ready for the kids to get back in school, mainly cause my x has my 2 over the summer and i want them home even though him and his current wife live a mile away and his wifes son and my son are in the same class at school. And I get them any time I want I made sure that was understood cause I just cant be an everyother weekend kind of mom. This whole split family has been such a challenge, I don't know how people do it without God.
Well anyways, I hope everyone has a great weekend and ill check in on monday if not before. Happy 4th of July. |

dgcashier: He is so cute, great smile. Its wierd I cant wait to be a grandma..
Ok I finally got my callanetics DVD in the mail today.. Me and my mom did the warm up... easy lookin is very diseaving?sp... anyways Im doing good on induction I found this site accidentaly its called sparkpeople.com Its awesome its like a healthy myspace. Its kind of like fitday.com but way better. Ok so today I did 15 min of callanetics and me and the baby and 3 year old went on a 30 min walk. I have to ease into this excersize stuff. I really want to join a gym and the only one I love in my town has no child care cause its at a church but there isn't very many people who go there but i love the equitment... so I may just join and take the baby with me in the stroller thats how empty it is. Ok so here is what I ate today. I am on induction B: 3scrambled eggs, 3slices of bacon 2 c coffee L: 2c iceberg lettuce, 1/2 stick celery, fried bacon pieces for bits, 2 tbls ranch S: Hamburger patties, 1tbls mayo & mustard, 1/2 c cottage cheese Ive had 8 cups of water with jalapeno cheese sticks that are 0 carb ttl 20 carbs. Ill be very excited when school starts cause ill just have the baby during the day so I think I can manage my excersize better. But Im not too worried the last time I was on lowcarb I lost 50lbs in 7 months with absolutly no excersize other than house work and just normal stuff. So I expect I will loose even quicker lets hope so. Well my daughters baptism was great except she was dissapointed that her dad wasn't there, but he tends to be not as involved with them as they would like. Well I hope everyone has a good night and by the way I did not cheat yesterday on my b-day or today on our anniversary and I will not cheat tomorrow on my dh b-day. woohoo |

Just wanted to say hi and to see how everyone is doing today.
Its so nice to have Christian sites here on this board where we can talk about our wonderful Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am doing better with my eating since I let the Lord just take control over it. I have been praying to Him and just talking to Him everyday about my weight and I feel so much more confident in that I can lose it all now. Our bodies are a temple of God and we must treat it as so. God Bless and have a great day in the Lord. ----------------------------------------- Be content with what you have, for God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid." - Hebrews 13:5,6 __________________________________________________ ____________________ Except ye become as little children, ye will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. - Matthew 18:3 __________________________________________________ ____________________ If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to yo mountain, "MOVE!" and it WILL move... and NOTHING will be impossible for YOU! - Matthew 17:20 __________________________________________________ ____________________ Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. - Jeremiah 17:7 __________________________________________________ ____________________ Cast your cares upon the Lord, for he cares about you. - I Peter 5:7 __________________________________________________ ____________________ My soul finds rest in God alone: My salvation comes from Him. - Psalms 62:1 __________________________________________________ _____________________ The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning. . . - Lamentations 3:22-23 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalms 119:105 __________________________________________________ _____________________ The fruit of the spirit is love, joy and peace. Galatians 5:22 __________________________________________________ ____________________ The kingdom of God is within you. - Luke 17:21 __________________________________________________ _____________________ He covers the sky with clouds, he supplies the earth with rain and maketh the grass grow on the hills. - Psalms 147:8 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Come unto me, ye who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. - Job 37:14 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. - III John 2 __________________________________________________ _____________________ There is no fear in love; for perfect love casteth out fear. I John 4:18 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Love is patient, love is kind, Love does not insist on its own way. Love bears all things, believes all things, Hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. - I Corinthians 13:4-8 __________________________________________________ _____________________ Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and has made the Lord his hope and confidence. - Jeremiah 17:7 |
