My eating and training has been horrible the past few months. I felt good and had energy but not enough to gain muscle. This is what I want and need!

I will talk to you soon!

Take care!
You sound so excited! That's awesome! I hope you pop in and tell us things are progressing!!

QOTD--Rewards....hmmmm. I've actually spent a fortune on clothes the past 6 months or so. I'm going on a cruise to celebrate. My ultimate goal, once I decide what the heck it will be--that one's tough. I'd like to say if I ever reached a size 6 I'd run naked down the street screaming hallelujah but that might get me in trouble. My ultimate goal will be getting a tummy tuck, hopefully partially funded by my insurance company. That's big.

Am entering my fitday as we speak, will post again when I get it done, and I weighed today so I'll post that as well. You guys are doing awesome on the Chant Plan. I am in awe!
Yea, deciding whether it's want or hunger...that's an issue for me. And you're so right about Atkins, it does allow for that.

But, you know, I think that's why I struggled and put some of the weight back on last time. I did not work to reduce my portions as I lost weight...then I'd stall, get frustrated, go off...so this time around I'm trying to pay attention and start with smaller portions and go back and get more "if" I'm hungry. So, far so good!

I see I need to answer some questions first.
a) You must choose a WOE and stick to it for at least One Month. Provide the basic details.
I read many things on the internet today and feel South Beach is the right choice for me. Limited carbs and fats. I've been compiling some simple recipes to get me started.

b) You must choose an Exercise Plan … and Just Do It!
(or declare that Exercise is not a part of your current plan)
Walking for now, 2 times a day, 15 minutes each time. That with my twice daily walk at work from the parking garage to my office should total 45 minutes of walking per day.

c) You must choose an article of clothing (i.e. blouse; pants; bra; swimsuit) and on each Wednesday, along with your Weight, report on the Thread, “how” that article of clothing "fits" you. You may also report your Measurements, but only if you choose to do so.

I just got a new pair of jeans for Christmas, they fit just right, so I will use those as my Wednesday weight loss guide.

d) You must decide & declare if you will post your Daily Menu/Exercise/Water consumption. Because we will hold you to it.

At this point I think I'll just state whether I am staying on my plan and if I met my exercise goals and water consumption. I will only be able to post briefly at lunch during the days as I work in a very fast paced office at the University here and we have no time to get on the internet except our 30 minute lunch time.

I've sort of been reading different boards all day (I'm off this week) and trying to learn how to post and figure things out. This board felt like the right place to say my first hello on lowcarbfriends I promise to say more about myself and say hello to all of you as I read more tomorrow.

I don't think you're being selfish, but honestly 3 pounds is GREAT! And remember, you're exercising now...your muscles could be retaining a little extra water right now.

Hi guys weighed in this morning at 4:30am no change 220.

I need to really change things up a bit. I feel like I have been doing good but I can't get out and exercise so whatever I do has to be in the house. I asked Dh to drag the tm out for me today. I checked on the gym and it is 65 dollars a month and I just can't afford that.

I am so frustrated right now. With the computer problems and everything else I don't what I am going to do.
Hi Jeanne,

What changes are you going to make? Do you have an idea of why there wasn't a change?

$65 a month for the gym, for you or a family plan???? That's expensive. We have a brand new gym (class, free weights, machines, every cardio machine you can imagine) and it's only $29.99 a month.

I'm using my "home gym" = and my treadmill died on me again last night. It seems to have a pattern of 35 minutes then turns off. I'm still hoping for that new treadmill *snicker* !!

Yeah on being down a pound!!!

And I LOVE twister! I haven't played it in years...but, remember that I'd usually start laughing and end up laying on the floor ... losing the game !

As I mentioned before and above, I may be treadmill shopping again. I thought I was going to be able to justify buying a new one last weekend, but it decided to start working normally the last few days. BUT, it's back to it's tricks and shutting down after only 35 minutes...so this might be my chance.

I know DH won't care, I just need to feel okay with the purchase, KWIM?

So, plans for today - lather, rinse, repeat of yesterday (except no going out for dinner )!!

Oh and I registered for my exam, it's scheduled for February 9th at 12:00 ... so now it's real and I need to get busy with the studying and come up with a plan to get through the prep book and guide at least one more time.

I'm trying to encourage myself with the thoughts of going to a conference this spring...and finding a warm place to attend, like Arizona or Las Vegas. We'll see!

Oh and with all of the weight reporting, I didn't report mine yesterday! 2 pounds down for me! I'll take it!

Question of the Day ~
Do you do all of your exercise at once or do you break it up throughout the day?

Aaah Jennifer - I know how it is to do the exercise. Did your DH get out the treadmill? Pupcake was saying the other day that he got some e-mail from Bally's (a gym we have belonged to in the past) offering a very low monthly. We were laughing that we could spend only $15 a month each to not go to the gym rather than $50. Ha!

You are doing great, keep it up!

Good luck on your exam.

You guys are right. I just need some sleep. HB mentioned that she was having ketosis insomnia? I didn't know about that. So that could be contributing? And the new kitty - bad kitty! lol

I'm determined. And I feel good despite the sleep. I'm sticking with it - forever this time I do think.

I don't know if I have mentioned this to you guys - back in 2002 I did low-carb for the first time and got to a good weight. I stayed eating on plan and loving it for two years. I felt so lean and fit. I was working out and on plan. It was great. I want that again.

I'm not real sure what happened to go off plan, but I got divorced in 2004, moved to the cities, youngest daughter went off to college, my mom died; tons of stuff. I fear that is the reason for my falling and not getting up.

This is a good question! I need to start moving during the day more. My job is soooooo sedentary and the knee has been making me not want to move much 'cuz it hurts.

I read somewhere recently that we were designed to move often and slow. Constant kind of thing. Not made to be sitting the way many of us have to do.

Thanks Alberta, I'm going to work really hard on my prep - I reeeeally want this to be over and done the first time !!

And about the treadmill...I might have picked it already. I found 2 treadmills that I really like. The price difference isn't that much, so it's really down to which of the features is more important! My main thing is a variety of programs ... I really want to change up my routine as often as possible, so we'll see.

Q of Day:

Well, all day I am up and down the stairs and walking dogs, but my "formal exercise" I do all at once. It's lucky enough if I browbeat myself into doing it once during the day... I am certainly not going to do it more often!.

I do try to do the things like parking further out in the parking lot and so on...

Rule Reminder! :)

1c) You must choose an article of clothing (i.e. blouse; pants; bra; swimsuit) and on each Wednesday, along with your Weight, report on the Thread, “how” that article of clothing "fits" you. You may also report your Measurements, but only if you choose to do so.

3) You must NOT be a “slave to the scale”!

Accept the fact that our weights fluctuate daily, even up to 5 lbs each direction, and ... get over it! The scale canNOT tell the difference between muscle, fat, fluid ~ so it’s NOT the best indicator of success! So, no whining!

I'm just sayin.

It's waaay too early (a friggin' week!)
to get upset about nothing lost or even a slight increase.
And 3 lbs lost is extraordinary! Daisy is this week's Winner!

+ I did NOT see any posts re: "garment fittings" along with those scale weights??
tap tap tap.
I'm waiting!!

Good Morning Ladies! Boy, you all have been busy this morning with all the posts. How do you remember each post as you write replies?

I found the fitday site last night that was on someones post and calculated my foods. I was curious about how many calories, fats and carbs I ate on a normal day while not watching what I ate. I was surprised that my calories were under 1800, but my carbs were sky high (198 carbs) I still haven't figured out what my fats and proteins ratio should be...does anyone know?

My plan is to begin on Monday, but as well, I also start back to work on Monday after being on winter break. I work at the administrative office at the local University In the dining hall! To say the least, I have access to all kinds of bad foods, which is why my weight has jumped higher in the last two years than it has ever been before. I have gained 42 lbs since working there. Breakfast is the biggest change I need to make. My usual is a Chick-fil-A chicken and biscuit and a large decaf coffee with splenda and half and half.

My darling husband, which I think ya'll abbreviate to DH, has no weight issues. He keeps his weight at 185 lbs eating whatever he wants. DD's husband is pretty much the same, although he eats almost all junk food, so DD and I have no help from them as to keeping the pantry clear of bad foods. We'll both have to do this with grit and determination no matter what is yelling from the pantry and fridge. I've already warned DH that the junk part of his meals will have to be prepared on his own!!

Well, I am still sitting here in my night gown and haven't done a single thing I had planned for this morning. I'll check back later.

To those of you who lost weight, even if it was 1/2 lb, it is an accomplishment! You made changes and those changes resulted in a loss! So woo hoo for you

Probably because it's JANUARY and all the Newbies w/ NY's Resolutions to "get fit" are streaming thru the doors so now the gym does NOT need to offer any "deals" like they did a few months ago when it was "dead".

Wait a couple months ... they'll be offerring screamin' deals again!

Meanwhile, you're gonna scour Cragslist and use that $30 a month on inexpensive home gym equipment. Look for stuff that can be folded up...

Total Gym
BowFlex
They even have compact, rolling, folding treadmills!
How about a recumbant stationary bike?
you could do that while ya watch TV!

I got my "gym quality" elliptical on Craigslist for $200
+ my weight bench with a zillion weights/bars for $50

So Jen, while you're not able to post or go to the gym, please THINK about HOW you can focus & stay on track AND post that for us! (when you can)

Are you tracking your cals/carbs? In what format? Are ya gonna post it for us? Would you like me to email you my excel spreadsheet? (I hate FitDay)

Hang in there & use this non-blog time to exercise!
Do you have any T-Tapp or Callanetics DVD's?
PM me if ya want some help gettin' 'em super cheap!
(you are all -- in this group only -- free to do this)

XO,
HB

Morning Molly!
(I've always loved the name Molly )

I have a doc appt in 45 min so I gotta be quick so more later but for now...I wanted to let you know to shoot for these "macros" (short for macronutrients which = the fat/fiber/protein/carb make-up of your calories)

60-70% Good Fat (saturated fat NOT trans fat)
20-30% Protein
5-10% Net Carbs (Total Carbs minus Fiber = Net Carbs)

(you probably know this stuff; but spelling out for ya, just in case )

TRY to get 15-30g of Fiber in each day.
It's tough on LC but important for satiety.

You officially start on 1/12 ??

XO,
HB
the only problem with the craigslist is they have a filter on this stupid computer and it won't let me go on it. I tried this morning. I will when I get a chance at moms.

I would love for you to send me your spreadsheet. That would be fantastic. I could print one off here at work and keep track of things. I don't always have time here at work to do fitday. Thanks HB! I do have a callanetics and a t-tapp but Dh has been off this week and he controls the tv when he is there. I know no excuses. I have been doing the thigh master and butt blaster everyday. I also did some walking stuff in the house the other night and windmills. I need a structured routine.

I'm just sayin.

It's waaay too early (a friggin' week!)
to get upset about nothing lost or even a slight increase.

+ I did NOT see any posts re: "garment fittings" along with those scale weights??

Also CTFLC people, a lot of times you gain a bit when you start adding carbs in, but then you lose that + more (I did) so remember to give it the full cycle and don't get discouraged.

Oh and my pants still don't fit.

We are just so smart in here that MENSA is scared of us....

OK, no, really:
I use multiquote (took me 3 months to figure it out) if you want to respond to a post click on the "+ button at the bottom right corner of the post. Then when you see another post you want to respond to, click it again on the bottom of that post. When all done click the "post reply" button at bottom left of page and you will see each of the posts you want to respond to. Delete the parts you don't want and respond as desired.

Hope that helps!

My slacks are a wee bit loser, I think I will weigh in after I have fed handicapped person, I notice I tend to have my daily issues taken care of when I get home. Sorry for whinning, guess I will change time of morning I get on scales because I know they would have been down. Slacks are loser in tummy so I do know I am losing.

Wednesday weight--178
Water consumption--not up to par.
Excercise--did get it in.

Question of the day---I do mine all at once, because really low goals right now. Terrible luck scheduling time for excercise, and tax season is upon me now...............
