After the new lights go in next christmas, we just take wood frames down with lights still attached and store. Make putting it back up a snap.

DH is already making his shopping list of lights that he wants to add for next year's display. Many of the commercial manufacturers are having preorder sales in Jan and Feb. More things in yard, maybe some arches, the roof, colored wall wash floodlights... etc, etc. My job is to rein him in when his vision gets too expensive.

I'm kinda glad I don't have to think much about it for a few months...
Well, you guys did a great job, but I'm sure you're burned out on "lights" !

Only one more week of double the dogs in my house. I am looking forward to them going back to thier own home!
Hi Jeanne!

It's a big day for you, starting your exercise and eating plan! Yea!

HB and Alberta are starting CTFLC today too, right?

And HB, is today your official Day #1 of no smoking? I've been there and done that, so if you need a pep talk or advise, let me know!

Hi iakaren and Nancy!

Back to reality! Argggh, it was a little painful getting out of bed this morning. My eyeballs feel a little dry and want to snap shut...I must overcome !

The day should go by quickly though, this is going to be the first day in a long time that everyone will be at work and we have a lot of catching up to do!

Outside of work, studying and exercising, I don't have any big plans today.

Oh and speaking of studying, I want to add another goal to my list. That is to receive approval of my PMP application (submitted 12/31) and then schedule my exam for the end of the month...and ultimately pass the exam! That will be such a relief having that off my plate!

Okay, that's it for now ~ you can watch my menu progress via my link. My planned exercise is a 10 cardio video, 40 minutes on the treadmill and 25 minutes PM stretch.

Enjoy the day!

Question of the Day ~

Have you planned mini-goals for your weight loss or just looking at the big picture?

I have been looking at the big picture for the last year and it hasn't been working. I have twice set the goal of losing 10 lbs, and both times, it fell by the wayside and I weigh the same now I did in 2007.

So I am going to set the goal of losing at least 1 lb this week. That should be attainable, even in my life!!!!

Discouraging. Whoever invented Oreos was evil.......

I have a mini-goal of 175 by the middle of March. That seems optimistic and I am! Let's see what happens.

My mini goal is 183 by the end of January. That undoes all the damage I did in the last few weeks. My overall goal is 145 on September 6th. Four and a half pounds a monthe will get me there.

This being my 2nd round of CTFLC it is starting to feel like an old friend.

HB you are stopping smoking! Good for you! I quit in May last year. I was chicken though and didn't tell anyone until I had quit for a week. I just couldn't handle the pressure of every one's support and good wishes. Silly aren't I?

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to wish everyone a VERY happy and blessed New Year!

I miss posting with everyone! I can only post for a few minutes now because I'm on dial up and they need the phone line.

I'm doing really well with my food plan. I have stocked up on sardines/tuna and make that the focus of my meals. I always eat a huge salad and then when I feel full I will try very small portions of "special" foods. My MIL is a fantastic cook and she is a very determined force feeder. food= love to her and she is very loving.

It has been a struggle to resist the foods that I don't want/need and to try not to hurt her feelings. but I am THAT determined to stay on plan. I refuse to allow anyone to dictate what I should eat.

Last year on my trip to Lebanon I gained 12lbs in 2 weeks. I REFUSE to do that this year. It takes me way too long to lose the weight.

I hope everyone is doing well! I'll try to post more soon.
I've read the rules and will follow them as soon as I get home(jan 20) Until then I'm not sure on the internet connection.

1) You must be ready for CHANGE and able to Keep Promises to Yourself.
On the 1st of each month, we must each declare the following information:

a) You must choose a WOE and stick to it for at least One Month. Provide the basic details.
low carb/low glycemic....1600cals under 50 carbs all from veggies and lower glycemic fruits (the fruits in lebanon are AMAZING)
b) You must choose an Exercise Plan … and Just Do It!
(or declare that Exercise is not a part of your current plan)no formal exercise but do plenty of walking daily

c) You must choose an article of clothing (i.e. blouse; pants; bra; swimsuit) and on each Wednesday, along with your Weight, report on the Thread, “how” that article of clothing "fits" you. You may also report your Measurements, but only if you choose to do so.
size 5 pair of OLD jeans (much smaller than current size 5)

d) You must decide & declare if you will post your Daily Menu/Exercise/Water consumption. Because we will hold you to it!
currently I can't promise this because I don't always have internet access
I'm also unable to really plan my meals because MIL decides what will be on the menu. I do always include my beloved sardines and salads
2) You must answer Teresa's "Question of the Day"!

3) You must NOT be a “slave to the scale”!
Accept the fact that our weights fluctuate daily, even up to 5 lbs each direction, and ... get over it! The scale canNOT tell the difference between muscle, fat, fluid ~ so it’s NOT the best indicator of success! So, no whining re: stuff like: "I gained 3 lbs yesterday", etc. Because THAT is just NOT physically possible (unless you ate 10,000+ calories)!

no scale here in lebanon

4) You must recognize that Friendship & Support & Accountability are fundamental elements of Success.

5) You must promise that, if you mess-up, you will get back on plan at the next meal, NOT the next day, week, month.
absolutely!!!

6) You must be able to give/receive constructive criticism and/or a good kick in the butt when need be! With no hard feelings!
kick away!

7) You must have a good sense of humor … and be able to laugh at yourself, even when it hurts!

T-Nurse!! HELLO Everyone!! Today is D-Day!!

I've started CTFLC which = No Wine for 21 days!!

(no "sweets" either )

This is Deplete Week which = Less than 20 Carbs per Day.

I'm trying to gulp a glass of H20 every time I think of it (like now!)

OK, I'm back

Menu Today:

M1: 5 strips Bacon (oops!) + Coffee w/ 2T HWC & 1T Torani SF Syrup

M2: 3 Fried Eggs + 1 oz cheddar cheese (tomorrow I’ll scramble w/ 1 cup fresh Spinach)

M3: 1/2 cup whole full-fat cottage cheese

M4: 8 oz Grass-Fed Ground Beef Burger + 1 cup Broccoli + 1 oz cheddar cheese

M5: Egg Cream Frappuccino Protein Shake

WATER: will be at least 72 oz Total ~ (Nine 8 oz glasses chugged!) ~ I'm over halfway there!

EXERCISE: will ride my stationary bike tonight for 20-30min + do ab work.
Wendy Chant says to "take it easy" on Exercise during Deplete Week. Don't want to expend more Calories than we're consuming or we place the body into "starvation mode" and that's NOT what we want! We want to train the body to use Fat for Fuel!

Good luck ladies with the CTFLC! I'm still plugging on Atkins because small meals are really difficult for me and feel too much like a diet. I don't always do well with that feeling...

I may have to resort to it someday if things to a screeching halt, so I'll never say never!

The workout went ok, 30 minutes on the Elliptical. I typically do cardio, I know I need to add weights but time is in such short supply unless I get up every morning at 5am instead of 3-4 days per week.

QOTD--All I really have are mini goals. I have no idea where this journey will end, after starting at 326 (HW339) this time I just decided to change forever and where it ends, it ends. I'd like to get to a size 8 ultimately but right now I'll settle for 170's.

I hadn't, but hmmmm, ya got me thinking...

I've been really hung up on "the damage" I've done to my progess
I can't believe that I gained back half of what I lost !!!!!
I've no one to blame but myself; it's self-sabotage.

So, I guess my 1st mini-goal is to get back to 155.
I'd REALLY like to do THAT by midFeb at the latest.
(we're back in Hawaii for a few days: Feb 12-15)

But that's 11 lbs!!
So I dunno...

I'd REALLY like to be at 150 lbs by my 1-year LCF Anniversary in March!!

I mean Good Gawd!! How long can it take for me to lose 30 lbs ?? Am I gonna drag this out past 1 year ??

Well, I guess it takes as long as it takes (!) but I'm really hoping for a nice loss of 5 lbs per month which would place me very close to goal (-15 bs with 5 more to go) by the end of March so surely I could be AT goal by my 46th BDay on May 30th?? Should be SOONER than that but boy that day will be easier to swallow if I'm thinner! I just don't like the 6's. Didn't like 26; didn't like 36 and won't like 46.

THANKS Shelly!! Great Question!!

WOW you are an inspiration; you've done so well w/ Atkins!

ITA! Karen, maintaining for a year is a HUGE SUCCESS in itself!!

QOTD--All I really have are mini goals. I have no idea where this journey will end, after starting at 326 (HW339) this time I just decided to change forever and where it ends, it ends. I'd like to get to a size 8 ultimately but right now I'll settle for 170's.

Good luck Karen, and at least you don't weigh more than you did in 2007! You maintained a whole year! For me, that's an accomplishment every year.

BACK TO WORK TODAY... I have been on vacation since Dec 25th. And of course, it was an "interesting" and very long day... signed off after 9 pm. Nothing like a 12 hour work day, the first day back from vacation.

Question of the Day ~

Have you planned mini-goals for your weight loss or just looking at the big picture?

I countdown 5 lbs at time. My goal is 5-10 lbs per month. Mini goals are 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 lbs milestones.

My excerise goal is to get back up to swimming 50 laps twice a week by the end January and add in one Pilates workout session per week in February.

Another goal is to faithfully follow the self-hypnosis/relaxation CD program.

TODAY:

All low carbs... not slip and falls

90+ oz water

No exercise today--too long a work day... Only exercise was unpacking my car from my WV trip...

Take care!

HB I finished day with 17 net carbs, 100 ounces of water. I had a headache so before I done any damage I went to bed with a Jay Robb protein shake first. I am going to get in more protein today, maybe headaches will be better. You have problems with 6's I have problems with 0's it was hard ot get to 180 now it is hard to get in the 170's I want to be there the end of this month though.
Congrats on giving up cig's and wine not to mention the sugar.
Better run and get water,

I do like broccoli. I am the only one in my family here that does though. Steamed w/butter or cheese sauce, raw w/dip, broccoli salad w/bacon... mmmm... Though lately the broccoli slaw has been my "thing"

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday.

Kim - how do you get your FitDay to display as you do? That looks like a very efficient way to do it.

That's good that you feel comfortable with the CTFLC ... it's the way I feel when I'm on Atkins and behaving myself!

HI Liz,

It's good to hear from you! Good to hear that you're on plan and doing well.

Enjoy the trip!

Sorry I've been a little AWOL today ~ I've been over here:
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...nuary-5th.html

XO,

I totally understand the self-sabotage feelings and the "lather, rinse, repeat" feeling of losing the same pounds over and over again. Very frustrating!

BUT, never give up...and you're right...it'll take as long as it takes!

According to the box it is made from durum wheat semolina and thier formula and manufacturing process causes it to only have 5 digestible carbs per serving.

A serving while looking small when weighed out (2 oz) is quite generous and I usually only have 1/2.

There are numerous threads about this pasta, some it stalls, some it does not. Some believe the box, some do not. I choose to believe the box and we eat it once a week or so and have never had a problem. Another one of those "mileage may vary" foods.

As far as taste... almost just like other pastas. I love it.

Hmm . . . such a good question!

Shopping in my closet for one thing.

I have been craving a piece of luggage that is crazy-expensive. Maybe I should think about that as my long-term goal reward.

Either this one

Louis Vuitton: French fashion designer

or this one

Louis Vuitton: French fashion designer

That's a lot of moola. Am I worth it?

~~~~~~
Crap - the links didn't work. How about this . . .
and this
