Doesn't help that we have a 22 year old hanging around most of the time anymore...lol.

Q of Day:

Bacon. Oh yum. I can eat anything wrapped in bacon (said with a leer)

Hot wings... deep fried and tossed with melted butter and Franks.
or tossed with butter, ranch, franks and parmesan cheese

Steak. Need I say more?

Bubba Burgers... best frozen burgers I have found (but pricey)

These days I am stuck on broccoli slaw. Mixed with mayo, ACV and bit of splenda or dash of Davinci's.

Mmmmm.... that's more than 1.... but they are all yummy!

a) Carb Addict Plan----2 lc (or no carb) meals, 1 meal called Reward Meal where you can eat anything you want, but within 1 hr time frame only. No snacks or SF drinks in between meals.

b) 10 minutes of excercise or stretching each day

c) pair of 33 waist levi jeans that are worn out, soft and comfy---skin tight right now.

d) I will post daily excercise and water consumption. Water consumption is my hardest thing to maintain.

Do you make New Years Resolutions? And if so, what is you most success resolution?
Normally, no New Year's resolutions. If I do, they never seem to make to the end the January. I like the idea of a few "no brainer" resolutions. I promise not to not to leap any tall buildings in a single bound this year or eat any endangered species.

Actually, this year, besides the lose wt and exercise regularly, my main theme for the year is to simplify my life. I'm pack rat, so first step is to get rid of stuff!

[QUOTE=sheshy;11342521]Morning Ladies!

Here's the Question of the Day ~
What is your favorite Low Carb (on plan) recipe or food? And if it's a recipe, are you willing to share?

[COLOR="Purple"]Fish and Cheese... I can't live without fish and chesse... no shellfish, I'm alergic. Sorry, no recipes, I can't cook! Baked fish is easy... add a little butter and lemon and it is terrific LC menu choice. Add a salad and that's pretty much my main staples.

Connor and I made it to WV safe and sound. Brought my laptop with me to keep in touch.

On Friday, before we left, Connor had a grooming and bath appointment. While he was at the groomers, I went swimming... 30 laps completed... upper and lower water resistance workout completed... and 5 minutes of water jogging. Had to cut the water jogging short, because it was time to pick up Connor. I usually do 15 minutes. I'm working my way back up to 50 laps, which is my goal for the end of the month.

I am really impressed by the runners among us. I have bad knees from too much hiking, skiing and an auto accident. Running is out of the question for me.

On the food front, so far I'm good. I have stayed with the carbs allowance and stage one guidelines every day, since Dec 30th.

Take care!

This weekend lets see after I get back home from your house enjoying your steak. I am going to Super Target to do my grocery shopping, and a pair of slacks. I bought 1 pair last week but was not sure if I would like it, I do so I am going to buy another. Then hubby is going to do some work on his car while he is doing that I will get utility bills ready for taxes due to our business.

I love mushrooms with steak...so good.

And I learned a trick for thick steaks too. Sear them on the stove top (or broiler or grill) for a few minutes each side...just to get good and brown. Then put a thermometer in and finish the cooking in the oven at 350 degrees and cook until they reach desired temp. OMG...it was so tender and cooked perfectly.

After removing the steak (to rest). I put the skillet back on the stovetop, added a little water to loosen up the brown goodies on the bottom and let it reduce a bit to make a glaze. Added the mushrooms and a tablespoon of my caesar dressing...it made such a good side!

LOL...to not leap any tall buildings...I like that one.

And oh yes, purging is a GREAT resolution. I did that about 5 years ago and just followed the rule that if I haven't looked at "it" in over a couple of years, then donate or pitch it. It's such a good feeling to be organized and know what you have and where it is! Good luck with that project!

I love fish too! My dad is a long time fisherman, so I get to enjoy the spoils when he goes.

Good for you with the swimming, that sounds like fun!

That's right...I've heard the same thing. So, we're all just babies!

Plans today may include treadmill shopping. I was treading yesterday and got to 35 minutes and it stopped suddenly. There's a little breaker switch on it, so I thought it popped for some reason, so I folded up the TM to look. The switch was all wobbling and wouldn't stay in the off or on position.

So I let it sit for a bit, so I could think....*grumble* ... went back in to try the switch again and now it's frozen in position, argggh!

I told DH this morning, and with a role of the eyes he promised to take a look at it.

You know, I'm almost hoping it dies...there is this really cool TM on HSN (yes I watch once in awhile ) and it has an awesome warranty, free delivery and all kinds of programs, and much, much more !

I'd love to get it. But I do the right thing, and have DH see if he can fix the old one first.

One thing I can do in the mean time, is to email or call them and ask the size of the delivery box. I'd hate to get it delivered and not be able to get it into the exercise room!

Other than that, no big plans for the day...yet!

Chat later!

I have to lose weight to get in to it again.
Oh that means that I would have had time to get up to WA. I live way down south in Calif 3 hours from Vegas 1 1/2 hours from LA. It takes 2 hours flight time, hubbys family lives in Auburn and Kent So dinner late would have been fine.

Have a great day Shelly

[COLOR="Purple"]Old, who me??? Never...Always Seventeen! (just like the Harry Chapin song "She is Always Seventeen"). Many friends and relatives have accused me over the years of being always seventeen just like the song. I'm kind of pleased with that accusation.

Thanks, Alberta, for the belated HBDay! Congrats on the grandchildren--aren't they wonderful!!!

Everyone, have a wonderful weekend!

Howdy & Happy Saturday Peeps!

Happy 60th BDay Nancy! You're now a "sage". A 17-year-old sage. How cool is that??

Yeah Kim, looks like Teresa has skipped out on us... That's why Shelly is doing the Q of the Day for us!

I gotta tell y'all, Whether one agrees with carb-cycling or not, I'm finding Wendy Chant's Crack The Fat Loss Code to be a very informative read re: Macros and their importance and what they can do for our bodies in the right ratios.

It ALL matters. Carbs, Calories, Protein, Fat, Fiber. We must each find the right macro balance to lose or maintain or gain. Our bodies are complex machines, so it's not easy. But it's do-able.

Even Dr Atkins says "I never said Calories don't matter, they do!".

The thing is, we don't give much thought to how cals, carbs, protein, fat, fiber ALL interact to help us gain, we only pay attention to it when we want to lose.

And sometimes we forget that it ALL matters! We must strike the right balance for our individual bodies as one size does not fit all.

Whether it's low carb; low cal; low fat; calorie-zig-zagging or carb-cycling; or eating to our BMR ~ it all matters. And too few cals can be as detrimental as too many cals. And too little protein can be as detrimental as too much protein.

XO,
HB

Question of the Day ~
Are you nervous about any upcoming events/parties? And if so, what are you going to do to prepare for them?
I never look forward to events I have to attend when I weigh this much. Just not confident in what to wear!

Another good reason to stay on plan!

I'm a tiny bit nervous about my upcoming cruise this month. There will be tons of high carb foods, but I think there will be enough low carb choices that I won't struggle too badly. I plan to work out every day in some way and enjoy myself by participating in activities that are not food related.

January 3, 2009
Today's intake:

Calories 1,879
Fat 127.9
64%
Carbohydrate 13.2
3%
Dietary Fiber 4.0
Protein 144.0
33%

Jogged 2 miles this morning, burning 200 calories so net calories around 1679. A little high for the day, but carbs were pretty low.

If any of you want to actually see my food--whoopie, not that exciting, really, I've posted my public journal in my signature since linking wasn't working.

It just dawned on me that I'm not "reporting" my exercise! I thought it would show up on my fitday link, but it doesn't look like it allows anyone else to view it.

So, I'm here to say yesterday was treadmilling for 35 minutes and 30 minutes PM Stretch. Today was treadmilling for 45 minutes.

Vacations are hard, so many temptations! But, it looks like you have a plan though and that's great!

Oh that means that I would have had time to get up to WA. I live way down south in Calif 3 hours from Vegas 1 1/2 hours from LA. It takes 2 hours flight time, hubbys family lives in Auburn and Kent So dinner late would have been fine.

Have a great day Shelly
