Oh gawd, me too! 20g can be tough; but it's do-able (short-term).

Agreed! Let the saturated fat intake "quiet" your appetite!
Such a wonderful gift!

on Atkins:
Important to start your day w/ saturated fat...
Sets the stage for SUCCESS all thru your day!

Use a smaller plate than everyone else & take only 1/2 to 3/4 of what your eyes "want".
Go back for small 2nds (if you need to) but only if you're still "hungry".
Intuitive Eating (Google it)

When you go out to eat, ask for a "to go" box to be delivered WITH your meal.
Immediately place half of your food in the box.
Eat everything on your plate (slowly) and feel how FULL you are!
(with leftovers for lunch the next day ~ yay! )

Great advice, Shelly!
and that's a Good Thing, no?

Very true!!!

Yes on the serving sizes and portions...one issue I've seen so many times with Induction is people will overeat the protein and not pay attention to what their body is telling them...no matter what plan you're doing ~ eat slowly, eat a much smaller portion to start = then if you're hungry later eat more. Don't just sit down to a 10 oz steak and gobble it down because it's 0 carbs!

The best part of Atkins (LC) is to use the benefit of ketosis and lessened appetite while you work on the bad habits and overeating behavior!

But about the carbs/fiber ... I wonder if they already deducted the fiber and the 7 grams of carbs are the net carbs. You should have asked...oh and BE ASSERTIVE when eating out...you're paying for it, get it prepared the way you want it! Geez, HB is rubbing off on me !!

I use a smaller plate (saucer) and sometimes I even use a small baby type spoon and fork at home it is just Hubby and myself he know I am doing it to eat slower, when we eat slower it gets to our brain that we are full, it takes 20 minutes for our brain to register that to our brain. I have learnt to take a deap breath and relax after about 10 minutes before I go on that way I am not getting in to many unwanted calories. I drink a full glass of water before I sit down to eat too. When I am home alone I sit down at the table with a place mat and a nice plate because I am special too, did you hear that Jennifer You are important to just like the rest of us, sorry Mom (HB) I didn't mean to step out of line here

Question of the Day response

Question of the Day ~
What will you do differently in the February challenge?

What I learned is that you can't do this allow. I think I would have given up if weren't for all of you! Your help and support has been invaluable. What I will do differently in February is to concentrate on getting healthy... not just weight loss, but exercise and mental and spiritual well-being too. I want to be as supportive to all of you as you have been to me. Great friends are waht really counts!!!

A while back we were discussing "Rich or Thin"... Like many of you I chose rich... dream house with my own personal indoor pool... personal trainer... lots of land for lots of rescue dogs... etc... BUT when I thought about it slightly differently... Rich or Good Health... I came to a much difference answer. Losing weight and exercising are part of my get healthy plan! And part of my February goals.

Although it might be nice to try out the "rich thing" some day! Fat chance of the that... So, I'll try the get healthly life road!

I have turkey, beef, pork bacon in my fridge & wanna compare.

BUT how does one say which is "better"??
I mean, it depends on one's WOE.
Higher Fat = Higher Calories
So I dunno??

Anything in the Main Lobby about it yet ??

OK.

I like Oprah...but, she's become a little like a self proclaimed prophet of EVERYTHING, Wizard of Oz, Carnack, the all seeing eye...you get my drift...and it's a little old.

AND, diet-wise, because the woman has gone up and down the scale as much as I have AND tried every hokie diet invented...I do not put too much stock into anything she has to say about diet, life or any other "ah-ha" moments...sorry.

Like I said, I like her for the entertainment value...but life and health issues...I think I'll figure it out myself and/or leave it to my doctor. Thank you very much

Oh and to answer your question...yes I prefer and think real bacon is better for you and better in general thank facon!

I don't know if any of you are/were fans, but this makes me sad...

Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist dies at Florida home ~ 01/28/2009 5:00 PM, AP

Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboard player Billy Powell, who played on such hits as "Sweet Home Alabama" and survived the 1977 plane crash that killed three band members, died Wednesday. He was 56.

I know what you mean, Shelly.

It's like, how are we gonna feel when Mick Jagger or Robert Plant or Stevie Nicks or Tom Petty or ANY of the rock icons we grew-up with ... dies?

The surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd had formed that other band ... Rossington Collins? Wow, truly the end of an era.

Different in February----eat better foods and increase the excercise.

Feb is high stress for me, so both of those get tough right now for me.
