as long as you can "handle" the fluctuations, then daily/weekly is fine.
but if ya think that's gonna "get to you" I'd suggest monthly at most.

regardless, I want the thread requirement to be monthly, I think?
what do y'all think ??

HB I think it would be so much better because the stress of having to weight in if I go up it is stressfull, if I stay the same I get discouraged also, this way shooting for once a month would be so much better.

Hey Jen! Yes, you DO! You have US! WE are your girlfriends, forever!
Can you believe that next month, you/me/Alberta have been friends for a whole YEAR?
Do either of you ever post or lurk over at Betsy's group anymore ??
Wonder what they're all up too...the only ones I miss are Nicole & Amber.
Of course I snagged my 2 fav peeps & brought 'em over to LCF with me!

Jen, is there a Curves near your home or near the hospital you work at?
Instead of joining a "regular gym", I very highly recommend Curves for you.
It's ALL women and it's a very friendly & supportive & positive environment.
The ladies that you work-out with quickly become FRIENDS.
You can set times to work-out together, go get coffee or lunch/dinner together.
I really really really think that would be VERY GOOD for you...I really do!

I'm totally fine for monthly weigh in's ... whatever works for the group, I'm good!

And I understand what you mean with the fluctuations. Before surgery, my cycle would send me up and down the scale all month long...it was very frustrating!!!

Thanks HB!!! WOW it has been a year. I do check out some of the messages but I really don't post on Betsy's sight. She doesn't even post much. I really love LC and could never go back to SS. They do have a curves in my area but at this time I can't afford anything extra. I have to save for a month just to buy a new pair of shoes. But it will get better.

Yep up and at-um early.
I am not good at organization. I wish I could be. Lets see the last time was probably 6 months ago. I did however reorganize a book shelf on monday. Does that count?

silly question. I try to keep things organized notice I said "try" I do know where everything is in the house but that is about it. I have so many boxes of papers I printed up from diet groups online have them in storage shed I have been going throw them fast so I can get rid of them I even ran across papers I had printed up when Jennifer. HB and I were in another group, I am saving some of them. The rest will be out of here. You really do no realize how many things you save thinking you will go back and read them.

George is an American Staffordshire Terrier, many times mistaken for a Pit Bull Terrier. AmStaffs are definitely part of what is called "bully breeds." A sweeter, smarter, dog would be hard to find! I got him from a rescue when he was six months old.

Thanks guys for the kudos of the pets. I love 'em!

I read some of the messages we wrote while on Betsys group yesterday that I had saved, Amber was very supportive along with Nicole, to bad we couldn't have taken them from that group oh well the 3 of us came here together that is what counts I still belong to her group but as for posting "No" I see only Joyce really posts messages about how great Betsy is and so busy, my thinking is if you start a group you should keep up with it, which Betsy does not. She rarley posts at all.
It is so hard to believe we have stayed together for a year now. I can never see myself leaving you ladies and espically this group.
Just finished doing taxes for handicapped man now I have to get my tax things together tomorrow.

I agree friend Crazy is the word for it. There is alot I can go into, but I won't oh why not. I am a Suzanne Consultant, she had asked me all about it if you really made money at it, not really, I told her everything about it then she goes and signs up under someone else. I am in it only to get my products cheaper now, which I don't buy anymore I had stocked up on everything I use. Simmer Sauces, protein bars, and shakes. Did you ever try her shakes or bars?

The Paper Towel Analogy
Quote:
Originally Posted by hummingbird11 View Post

Let’s assume you go out and buy two rolls of paper towels, each with 112 paper towels on it. You put one aside, and keep it for future reference (your “before” picture). The other one represents you (I’ll call your paper towel “Ed”). The core represents the lean Ed. The towels represent the fat that is covering the lean Ed.

For sake of argument, let’s say that Ed wants to lose 28 pounds of fat, so (112/28) each sheet represents a quarter-pound of fat lost.

Let’s also assume that Ed loses his fat equally during each day of the program.

Each day during the first week, you tear a sheet off of Ed, representing the fat he has lost for the day. Next, you put Ed next to the full roll (“Big Ed”) for comparison.

No noticeable difference! Even at the end of the week!

“This can’t be working for me! This program sucks! ”
But, you continue to follow your fat loss program. At the end of weeks two and three, you continue to compare Ed to Big Ed, and still notice very little difference.

But Ed is determined! He continues to work hard!

Three more weeks go by, the sheets peeling off day after day, before Ed gets up the courage to stand next to Big Ed again.

Now there’s a big difference!

By the end of the program (112 days), Ed is down to his lean dream, or somewhere near it.
Big Ed is still - well, big.

The lesson to be learned is that fat, like paper towels, comes off in sheets. When you are heavy, you are big around. And when you are big around, that fat is spread over a MUCH larger area – just like that outside towel sheet. The closer you get to the lean you, the more each lost pound of fat shows, because it is spread over a smaller area.

While the outside sheet may only cover one layer of the roll, the inside sheet may go around 4 times. That last sheet looks like it gives you four times the results of the first sheet, but in reality, the results are the same – your perception is just different!

And you’ll never see the inside, if you aren’t patient while the outside is coming off!

I am up two pounds this week. Never fear! HB has kicked my butt and I am recommitting. Kinda like shaking a rug and waiting for the dust to settle. That's me!

So I'm 194 today.
Me too! Up 2.2 lbs this week. I have kicked my butt or at least tried in my Water Aerobics class.

Sorry, I have not in touch since last week. It has been a terrible week. I told that my work laptop crashed... leaving without a computer for 5 days! and of course my deadlines stayed the same.

I got my work laptop back last Thursday. I got a stomach bug the same day. Worked from home on Friday between trips to the bathroom. Yucky!!! Then to make matters worse, the water pipes in my house froze sometime Friday night.

What's next??? I guess I'm lucky that my pipes didn't break like our friend. Through creative use of a space heater, heating pad and hair dryer the water pipes were defrosted late Saturday night.

And of course, work deadlines looming BIG TIME! And I could work over the weekend, because they upgrading the database soltware and it was unavailable all weekend.

So, this work week has been crazy... Trying to catch up from all the above!

I'm back now. I missed you all!!!!

WEEKLY REPORT:

up 2.2 lbs

My bathroom scale has a BMI number and I went down 2 points. Maybe I gained musle and lost fat???

My current jeans are now so loose, I can take them off without unbuttoning and unzipping. My new jeans (one size samller) are still a bit tight, but looser than last week.

I went off the low carbs when I was sick with the stomach flu. Carbs help settle the stomach. But I went back on the low carbs on Monday this week. So far so good...

one Water Aeobics classes (Tuesday this week)
Swam 30 laps (Tuesday this week)
Dog Park (Sunday while it was snowing no less!)
Dog Training class (Wednesday night)
And of course daily dog walks.

I know I need to do better on the exercise. Kick my butt, please!

I didn't manage to get the pool in the early morning, but I will try again this week. "... moving from failure to failure without a lost of enthusiam."

I'll try to get catch up with Questions of Day--in my case "Questions of the Week".

Love you all!

Question of the Day response

What are you doing this weekend? Are you going to be getting any extra exercise?

Does trying to defrost my waterpipes count??? Probably not, but the 2 hours Sunday at Dog Park in the snow counts!

Are you craving any foods, and if so, have you ever found &/or tried a substitute version of that food?

YES, I crave ice cream and chocolate. I have not found a substitute for ice cream. There are some low carb chocolate choices, but none as good as pure dark chocolate.

There was a place on Hatteras Island, that had great low carb low fat frozen yougart (8 carbs), but I haven't been able to find anything close nearby.

If you’ve overdone it with exercise, what is your favorite way to deal with sore muscles?

A l-o-n-g hot shower! Followed by cuddling in bed with a good book!

More later... I have to find the rest of the questions...
