You poor thing, that must be painful! I hope you're able to get in to the doctor today!

So. What I have done is printed off nutritional menus for every fast food place I could think of that DH would stop at highlighted the best foods for me and put all in a folder to carry along.

I'm bringing almonds, pumpkin seeds and some SB bars as snacks. I have some SF hard candies to suck on. I have some plain oatmeal I can make in hotel (my whole grain starch), tea bags, and sweetener packets.

Can anyone think of anything else I should tuck in my bag?

Also bringing MP3 player and going to try to get some walking exercise everyday even if it is just around and around the parking lot!
Oh road trip!!! Have a good time! Are you taking a little cooler? If so, you could through in some lunch meat, cream cheese, lettuce, pickles (make roll ups for lunch or snack), hardboiled eggs, celery (and other cut up veggies) with ranch, string cheese....that's all I can think of right now!

Enjoy the trip

We blew a water pipe at the kid's house Sunday. Poured water onto the furnace which in turn blew out the mother board. Yikes. Inches of water down there. Poor tenant that lives in the mother-in-law rental! We got all the water cleaned up. Luckily, most of it was in the utility area; just a bit went into his portion. There was some water in his kitchen and some just starting in the living room.

So they had no heat there all night! I ran to Target and bought a mattress heater for Corry (tenant). The kids got one from us last Christmas so they’re all set. Pupcake said the house was 48 degrees this morning when he met the plumber and furnace guy there.

All kinds of drama!

I feel very chubby today. I have on a pair of dress/work pants and they are so tight! I didn’t weigh myself. Wednesday is weigh-in day. What is going on with me? Look at the carbs I ate yesterday! I had no real idea it would add up like that. I might have the wrong counts in there for the low-carb pasta I had with my red sauce. Blerg.

I am getting frustrated. I feel like I’m flitting around trying to land on a good plan for me. Should I download the book, “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle”? Am I being too impatient?

FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal: Public Journal
Wow, sorry for all the drama!

About the puffy feeling...have you had the LC pasta before? You could have a food intolerance and just be reacting to something you ate. Even if you aren't sensitive to anything you ate, the extra carbs can cause water retention. Oh and what about your sodium level...

OK, so I need to find out when the actual inauguration is going to happen...I'd like to watch. BUT, when I turned on the TV is shows the event going from the wee hours of the morning until early afternoon. I fear most of that is going to be the reports/stalkers talking about Obama and following him around today !! So, I'll have to google it, I guess!

Question of the Day #1 ~
Have you ever gone to get a pedicure? If so, are you a wild and crazy girl with the polish color?

Question of the Day #2 ~
Are you going to watch the inauguration today?

Make the most of your day!

Yes I have gone to get pedicures in the past but not that often I don't have the time, I use a machine I have here that I can soak my feet in then polish nails myself. The colors I did pick when I had pedicure was an okay color I usually gravitate toward the pinks and mauves.

#1 Yes I won a free pedicure and no wild colors. Just clear. I am not adventurous.

#2 DH controls the tv and we will probably jump back and forth.

Well it has been a long week already. I have been doing fairly well with staying lc. I have not been doing fairly well with keeping up with what I am eating. I really miss my puter. The way things are right now it will be a while before I get another one. UGH!!!! I miss you guys.

I am really depressed right now for reasons i can't go into today but I feel really bloated. Since I haven't been eating that much I am assuming that it is stress. Anyway I will check back in tomorrow.

Alberta! :(

sorry I missed this yesterday...your dentist may have already told you this...but if not:

Go get some Aleve (Naproxen) and take 3 or 4 of them at a time!

Naproxen is the best for a toothache (I know this personally!) and so that's what is typically prescribed (but in higher dosage Rx than OTC) so that's why you take 3 or 4 of them; but NOT on an empty tummy...have a protein shake first

HB Thank you, what they did was take an old filling out to replace it with a crown, after they got the temp back on it was fine. I have only 2 more fillings in mouth to go then no more fillings. I am getting them replaced with crowns.
I agree with you on the Bushes. This day has been one day long coming. I have been watching since 4 AM our time, on 2nd tape already. Have another ready to go before night.
Have a super day,

Alberta

I'm new at this and would like to join your thread. I mean I am really really new at this. I have never been in a chat before. I am 230 / 130. Tried Atkins but not as a WOL and want to begin again. What a day to start. Need all the encouragement / advice I can get.

Aloha beedlebug & Welcome to LCF! This is a wonderful Forum!

As only 2 of us are doing Atkins (and those 2 are unable to post regularly) ~
I think you'd be much better off joining one of the Atkins Induction threads:

Atkins Induction - Low Carb Friends

Looks like there is someone else that just started yesterday!
I really feel you'd receive more encouragement/advice w/ a group of like-minded peeps following the same WOE.

Best of luck to you on your weightloss Journey!

XO,
HB

I feel like I haven't talked to you in FOREVER!! How are YOU??
I wonder if Liz (T-Nurse) is back from Lebanon yet ??

Hey, so I gotta go fix dinner now (STARVIN' MARVIN') !!!!!

But just a quick note to say I'M BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN !!!!!

Deplete is going GREAT (3rd time is a charm!); doing good on refraining from wine; carbs; sugar; as of yesterday I'm drinking my 8 glasses of water, taking ALL of my supplements (will share the list as soon as I type it up) and I even exercised yesterday!! Woot Woot! It feels good.

But please don't ask me about the unmentionables. I had a little "relapse".

But I'm definitely tapering off and will quit altogether SOON.
I'm going to get thru Deplete Week; let the Wellbutrin get into my system for another week or so
+ I'm starting a group Hypnotherapy class on 2/4 !!

I posted the details about that in my Journal:

The Butterfly Connection

Good morning all!!! With all the stress in my life right now I haven't concentrated on calories and macros much. I have however concentrated on staying lc and it has paid off I think. Yesterday I decided to see if I was in ketosis so I had a couple strips left and used one. It said moderate. I was very excited with that.

Then this morning at my 4:30am weigh-in the scales did an amazing thing. They MOVED. I am down 2 pounds.

If I could have did the morning thing I may have lost a pound or two more but hey I love it. I am at work today so I will be around.

Ok, I already mentioned by exciting life work, study, exercise...or exercise, work, study or sometimes....it's just exercise and study!

Things are going well with food and exercise ... I'm down 1.5 pounds this week and I'll take it!

Question of the Day ~
Do you ever go out with girlfriends for a cocktail or coffee?

Thanks Shelly, Great job on the pounds down for you two. We are on a roll now.

I don't go out with girlfriends because I don't have any girlfriends. If I go out it is me and DH. Sad isn't it.

Ugh... just typed this nice long reply that got lost into the ether....

Suffice it to say we arrived last night after 14 hours of driving, snow in NC + insane traffic in Washinton DC (they were having a little "thing" yesterday )

Done well on food and worked out in fitness room today.

Was at 185.5 yesterday AM so that is my official weigh in for this week. There is a scale here in the fitness room but I am not taking my clothes off there to stand on it

Love y'all and will try to check in tomorrow...

I was very excited with that.

Then this morning at my 4:30am weigh-in the scales did an amazing thing. They MOVED. I am down 2 pounds.

If I could have did the morning thing I may have lost a pound or two more but hey I love it. I am at work today so I will be around.

YEAH Jennifer on your 2 pound loss. So good to hear from you again.

I have been busy Jennifer adding up all the checks I write for my handicapped person so I can send it in to the Social Security place for him, I have to save every single receipt and be accountable for every penny that comes out of his checking account every year. X amount for utillities, X goes out to rent, X for food and so forth. Glad hubby and I have a tax man to do ours.

Have a great day,

Wednesday Weigh Day ??

Congrats, Jennifer and No Worries, Daisy!
(sorry if I missed stats for anyone else?)

OK, I wanted to post this last night, but couldn't get to it, so here goes...

Bottom line is, I suggest that we begin Monthly Weighing (instead of Weekly Weighing) ~
being "Slaves to the Scale" goes against everything I "preach" (and our Rules) ~
and I don't want to "enable" that type of unhealthy behavior BECAUSE:
it can be SUPER discouraging & non-motivating & counter-productive ... KWIM ??

Oh it's great when it goes "down"; but the up/down fluctuations aren't so "fun" are they?

Please let me know your thoughts ... meanwhile ... here's my message to you all:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Due to a Lymphedema flare-up (my legs & abdominal area are super swollen w/ lymph fluid) ~
AND the fact that I'm also constipated (I'm full of sh*t once again! )
I was already gonna announce that I will NOT be weighing today cause I don't need the stress.
Nope, I sure don't. I really don't want to do anything that might derail me right now...
And seeing myself a few pounds up or the same; well that would probably derail me.

Then I saw this photo (@ CTFLC thread) of 5 lbs of fat + 5 lbs of muscle:

to reinforce the visual:
Each pound of muscle burns approx 50 cal a day
Each pound of fat burns approx 2 calories a day
Sooooo let's work on building those muscles !!!

Through Diet & Exercise:
you're losing fat and building muscle ~
you'll find you're fitting into smaller clothes, despite the numbers indicated on the stupid scale!

One way to drive me CRAZY is to:
WHINE about pounds lost (or not lost) or how the scale went up/down overnight...
The scale will go up; The scale will go down; The scale will stay the same.
these are called NORMAL DAILY FLUCTUATIONS! (esp for women)
We need to gauge our progress by how we feel & how our clothes fit.
NOT by what the Stupid Scale says!

Oh it's great when it goes "down"; but the up/down fluctuations aren't so "fun" are they?

STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALE; THE SCALE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND; THE SCALE IS AN EVIL LIAR !!!!!

OK, please digest that ladies ~
I mean LOOK at the diff in size btwn the SAME amount of fat vs muscle.
that really says it ALL. the scale canNOT measure that transformation!
(in fact, muscle weighs more than fat; so of course the scale is inaccurate)

BBL & TTYL ~ it's a BUSY day at work today...
XO,
HB

I know what you mean. When I worked out before I weighed more than I did when I was young and wore smaller clothes than when i was young. Muscle weighs more than fat but it is definitely toner.

What day should we weigh on HB? Should we start fresh on the 1st of Feb?

I think that's a good idea. I'll keep weighing weekly in my journal.

if everyone agrees, let's report our weights on the 1st of each month.

please PM to me; I'll post a comprehensive list of everyone's weight.

for instance ~ on Feb 1 ~ I'd post Jan & Feb for everyone

as long as you can "handle" the fluctuations, then daily/weekly is fine.
but if ya think that's gonna "get to you" I'd suggest monthly at most.

regardless, I want the thread requirement to be monthly, I think?
what do y'all think ??
