I am happy to say I just finished my morning workout. 20 minutes ab with cardio ala Jackie Warner DVD then the Nordic Track.

Tomorrow DD1 and I are going to do the 20 minute upper body portion of the DVD.

We are out in the yard cleaning up old wood and pine needles, we are planning on adding a third storage shed one that hubby can use as a work shed, so much cheaper than the 3rd stall to garage. I love working out side to me it does not seem like exercise, it is 75 degrees again better take all the outside time in now.

Is everyone enjoying the weekend??

I had a great day; 75 degrees & sunny here!

Spent all day outside doing yardwork w/ my cell phone headset on, catching up on phone calls w/ friends & family; spoke w/ my 23 yr old step-daughter for 2 hours! My 1 yr old grandson can say my name now: Nana! Great conversations & a Great day!

Deplete is going well today; I had a HB egg for breaky + a HB egg for lunch.
Nothing else except water & coffee.

Making blackened wild salmon & caesar salad for dinner ~ super yum!!!!!!!!!

I guess that would be kayaking...I can't do it all year around, it's just too cold. But, it seems from spring through fall I'm making my next plan to go!

Morning ! And the salmon does sound good, doesn't it?

And I totally agree, I would be starving with 2 eggs *sigh* !

Hi Alberta, Hi Jennifer!!!!

I am so happy! I woke up today and peeked outside and there was NO FOG! My gawd, it's been a week since I've seen the sky!

So, yea! So, DD and I are hitting the hiking trail and then we have appointments for massages at noon! I can't wait!

Question of the Day ~
Are you craving any foods, and if so, have you ever found &/or tried a substitute version of that food?

I need to go update fitday! Later gators!!

Hi ladies :hiay: ! Happy Monday *yawn* !!

I have to report on my massage experience yesterday! DD and I went to a chain-type massage place called Massage Envy. We both get tension in our upper backs and necks and LOVE to get a neck massage, so we should go check this place out...that was Saturday.

The gal told us that they have a special $39 each for a 60 min massage so we signed up for Sunday at noon. It was amazing, a great experience and soooo relaxing, I loved it! And we decided we'll both go again!

In between the activities this weekend, I did get my studying in and am feeling better about the exam everyday. I did make plans to go to the beach the weekend before the exam though...I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not.

I did tell everyone that I have to make time to study each day! Then I'll have the morning of the exam off for my last cram session *fingers crossed* and then I'll go take and pass the thing! 3 weeks from today! w00t!

Hope you all had a great weekend, too!! AND stayed on plan!!!!

Question of the Day ~
If you’ve overdone it with exercise, what is your favorite way to deal with sore muscles?

Oooohhh the massage sounds wonderful! What a nice indulgence.

Q of the day:

Long hot soak in the bathtub. Then next day I work the sore muscles a bit... get the blood flowing. Then more bathtub

Good morning ladies,
How is everyone doing? I really enjoy reading your menus Jeanne, that give me an idea of what I am suppose to be doing. Thank you.
After I brushed my teeth last night I went to floss as usual, well big mistake, the temporary tooth doc. had put in until my crown gets here in 2 weeks came out. I was up all night with aching mouth, I am hoping he is opened today so he can put it back in, I was teasing hubby asking if I should put it in one of those jars people use when they have false teeth or could I put it under pillow for the tooth fairy. It is aching now I guess I will be drinking my meals today. I am going to be taking an asprin in a few because it is hurting again.
Hope you all have a great day,

Alberta

If I overdo on exercising I take a warm shower so it can run on my back.
Your body massage sounded wonderful.

Oh please don't look at my menu's as a model of anything! I know better than to be off and on the scale every day (I know! I know) But sometimes can't help myself.... and the last three days have been up another 1/2 pound every day. I've been drinking my water, but will pay more attention to sodium intake today...

So sorry about your tooth. I know how bad that feels. Hope you are able to get it replaced today!

OK. I know my personal challenge is going to be next week.

As I was driving back from Columbia last night was on phone w/DH talking about dinner as both of us were getting home about 9pm. (Late for us, we usually eat at 6). He said "Stop for Pies on Pizza?" (My fave pizza place) I say, "Not tonight, tomorrow night is carb up". Big pause and he says "You aren't seriously planning to stay on plan next week while we are out of town are you? Because I'm telling you right now I am not."

I wanted to go through that phone and smack him.

I replied "That is fine if that is what you want to do. I know it is tough when traveling. I am going to keep to my plan though. I am tired of stopping and starting. I am sick of gaining and losing the same 8 pounds over and over. Don't worry. I can always find something to eat no matter where you want to go."

He says (and again I wanna smack him) "Thats why we shouldn't have even started back on this WOE until after this trip instead of after Christmas".

Having a diet partner is not always easier. He was a bit huffy I think because he wanted to have a "partner in crime". He is looking at it as a vaction therefor "free time". I am looking at it as "My gosh we JUST finished Christmas! And the scale is FINALLY moving"

I can already envision a trip full of stops at Burger King, Sub shops, Pizzerias, Cinnabon and Dunkin Donuts (cause I know my hubby too well). I think he will tempt me because me on plan makes him feel guilty about him being off plan (my amateur psych eval for the day).

My chore today is to think about this and come up with solutions to make it easier for me. I will give y'all my gameplan for inspection later today.

OK... remember this? Well, the trip that got pushed off until Thursday is now on for tomorrow. We leave tomorrow morning and drive to New Jersey. Stay there until Friday. Then drive to Philadelphia, PA. Then drive to Boston, MA. Then Monday drive to New Haven, CT. Then home on Wed or so next week.

So. What I have done is printed off nutritional menus for every fast food place I could think of that DH would stop at highlighted the best foods for me and put all in a folder to carry along.

I'm bringing almonds, pumpkin seeds and some SB bars as snacks. I have some SF hard candies to suck on. I have some plain oatmeal I can make in hotel (my whole grain starch), tea bags, and sweetener packets.

Can anyone think of anything else I should tuck in my bag?

Also bringing MP3 player and going to try to get some walking exercise everyday even if it is just around and around the parking lot!

Sunday's Report:

I don't know what day it is anymore! Our internet was very spotty over the weekend. Up sometimes and mostly down.

We blew a water pipe at the kid's house Sunday. Poured water onto the furnace which in turn blew out the mother board. Yikes. Inches of water down there. Poor tenant that lives in the mother-in-law rental! We got all the water cleaned up. Luckily, most of it was in the utility area; just a bit went into his portion. There was some water in his kitchen and some just starting in the living room.

So they had no heat there all night! I ran to Target and bought a mattress heater for Corry (tenant). The kids got one from us last Christmas so they’re all set. Pupcake said the house was 48 degrees this morning when he met the plumber and furnace guy there.

All kinds of drama!

Cal - 1,828
Fat - 120.1
Fiber - 18.7
Carbs - 68.1
Protein - 125.5
Exercise - I worked out hard on Saturday. 20 minutes ab work then 10 full minutes on the Nordic Track. Plus my stretching.

I feel very chubby today. I have on a pair of dress/work pants and they are so tight! I didn’t weigh myself. Wednesday is weigh-in day. What is going on with me? Look at the carbs I ate yesterday! I had no real idea it would add up like that. I might have the wrong counts in there for the low-carb pasta I had with my red sauce. Blerg.

I am getting frustrated. I feel like I’m flitting around trying to land on a good plan for me. Should I download the book, “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle”? Am I being too impatient?

Daisy, it was ONE medium-carb day! No biggie!
(anything under 100 is technically LC)
Move on to a couple of LC days (under 50).
Under 30 is VLC.

I had no real idea it would add up like that. I might have the wrong counts in there for the low-carb pasta I had with my red sauce. Blerg.

Good Morning & HAPPY pre-YES WE CAN DAY !!!!!

FYI, I'm copying/pasting this from my Journal:

I admit, I did not Climb the Carb Ladder via the way Atkins prescribes, I bet if I went back and did that correctly, I'd be successful.

But after much reflecting (since August) I'm now Carb-Cycling via CTFLC and I'm going to stay the course.

I have some valid reasons for choosing this WOE.
(outlined in some posts above here in my Journal).

I feel that at this time, this is what is best for me and my lifestyle.

I tried Keto (Atkins) and Keto w/ Refeed. Neither was right for me.

Now I am doing CTFLC (carb-cycling).

btinc suggested this to me months ago, but deep-down I was afraid of Carbs.

I'm not sure what makes people think that I haven't already placed a lot of thought into truly trying to find something that is best for my body, mind and spirit?

Because I have done exactly that.

I've been lurking on the CTFLC threads since August.
(And I've looked at CAD; SB; JUDDD; etc etc etc)

But I wasn't ready to leave LowCarb, yet.

And then I went totally Off-Plan in Nov/Dec. That was My Choice.

Yes, I'm paying for it now, but it was still a Choice that I made; there was no struggle, it was simply a choice.
I did not want ANY food restrictions or guidelines.

And I made up my mind to do CTFLC when I came back.
And I did.
And I am.

Yes, I'm having trouble with the Deplete Week. Lots of people do.
But it doesn't mean that I'm ready to chuck it and switch WOE again.

Not right now.

I will get thru this; I'm halfway there.

I'm not making any excuses, but it is a fact that I over-indulged in sugar carbs over the Holidays and so quitting sugar; carbs; alcohol; nicotine; effexor ~ ALL at once proved to be a little too much for me.

But that doesn't mean that I'm going to switch my WOE right now.
I'm going to get thru the Deplete & then do the 8-week Program.

At that point, I can decide what I want to do next.

Bad Cravings?

Try this!

btw, there are different kinds of Chromium. the super helpful nutritionist at my local Whole Foods recommended Solaray brand GTF Chromium (from organically bound, trivalent chromium yeast w/ glucose tolerance factor).

and fyi, my hypnotherapist says "willpower" is an overrated crock. our conscious mind (10% of our brain) is no match for the "chatter" we're continually assaulted with by our subconscious mind (90% of our brain).

If you just can't get control over your cravings it may not be all about "will power." You may be lacking in some important nutrients.

I learned about this from The Diet Cure and have been amazed at how well they work. Taking the correct dosage at the right times is important to how well they work.

To put an end to cravings for sweets & starches, try a combo of glutamine & chromium. This usually eliminates cravings in 24 hours.

500-1500mg L-glutamine first thing in the morning, midmorning, & midafternoon
200mcg Chromium with breakfast, lunch, dinner & at bedtime

If you overeat to help you deal with emotional pain try adding DLPA at the time you take glutamine.

500-1000mg DLPA (DL-phenylalanine)

For relief in 10 minutes in case of EMERGENCY
500mg L-glutamine taken by opening a capsule under your tongue
Glutamine and DLPA are amino acids & are found naturally in protein.
Start with the lowest dosage suggested. If you don't feel relief within 30 minutes add a bit more.

All amino acids should be taken at least 20 minutes before eating protein.
