Ok playing with fitday. So far this is what I have-
988 cals
78.1 fats 72%
13.2 carbs 5%
54.1 proteins 22%

Not too bad I think!!! But the day isn't over yet. Striving for 1500 cals under 30 carbs.

Well, that leaves you with 500 cals for Dinner ~ what's on the Menu?
Need to plan out the rest for your day, foodwise, so you know what you can have without going over...

Ok not a lot in the house. DD says she is fixing hotdogs. I know that won't keep me under 500 calories so I have to think about it. I need to fit in a few more grams of protein and fats as well. Any ideas.

Well after my afternoon snack of cheese cubes and a dill pickle, this is where I stand.

I have 328 cals
14.8 carbs
32.9 protein
16.9 fats left for the day. Maybe I am not eating enough protein when I think I am!

hey, can we get that homemade Yogurt Recipe? sounds dee-lish!

Your "sharks in chummed water" cracked me up, too! What a visual!
I use the recipe from this thread 3 Carb Homade Yogurt
I don't add the gelatin as some do, but I do toss it in a coffee filter lined strainer and let sit 1/2 hour to drain excess whey. Makes it super thick. Best yogurt I ever had. Very easy, very "forgiving" recipe. I mean I'm making it in a styrofoam cooler for goodness sake!

I'm not sure what to believe on yogurt carb wise (exception or not) so I just do the count for 1 cup yogurt same as 1 cup Hood milk. So 1 cup = 3 carbs.

Aloha Obraxton! Gorgeous Baby you have there!

Gee, we'd have loved for you to have joined us on 1/1 ~
but the thing is, we're all neck-deep in not only an on-going challenge with each other, but now a challenge with another challenge thread, we've already made the rules & everyone has their part, we're already 3 weeks into this thing, and to be honest, regrettably, it's too late to accept anyone else into our challenge...
I'm so sorry.

This is the Pen Pal section, but if you check-out the Challenge section, I'm sure you'd be able to find a Challenge to hop on that's just beginning, and you can be at the same stage as everyone else...
(which would be more fun & more motivating for you)!

I wish you ALL the best in your Journey!

It is actually the light ones. They have 90 cals, 7 fats 2 carbs,and 5 protein per dog.

well then figure out the cals on 2 of those dogs (bunless, of course!) + a green salad.

that should keep you at 1500-1600 cals
w/ maybe even room for a 3-minute flourless choc cake for dessert?

since the cake is 200+ cals, you may have to make a choice btwn 2 hot dogs or 1 hot dog + cake.
but either way, you need to have a salad, young lady! NO cutting cals in THAT dept!

Made progress this week--down 3.8 lbs! That's 8.2 lbs since Christmas.

Christmas =======> 294
New Year's ======> 290
Last Wednesday ==> 289.6
Today ==========> 285.8

No so good on exercise in the past week. Only made it to one Water Aerobics class and one 30 laps swim session. I did walk the dog and went to the dog park 3 times for 2 to 3 hrs each time.

I have to get back into the exercise habit again. Last year, when the pool was closed for a week in August, I went crazy lining up substitute pools that I could use that week. Even went through the LA Fitness sales pitch to get a 3 day guest pass to use that week. The mere thought of going more than a day without going to the pool was unthinkable. I need to get back into that habit again.

One of my problems is I'm working longer hours. I have to choose in the evening whether to take Connor to the dog park or go swimming or get home too late to do either. I know the solution is get up really early and go to the pool before work. I'm not a morning person, but I am going to try this approach next week. I promise to go the pool early morning at least once in the coming week. I CAN DO THIS!!! Right????

I found this website, which had lots of good ideas on self motivation:

Personal Development for Smart People - Steve Pavlina

He had an idea I never thought of for getting up early:

How to Become an Early Riser

Practice, Practice, Practice unil you make it a no-brainer habit. Sound sort of silly, but if it works, I'm all for it!

More later... I have a dog training class tonight... so no pool and no dog park tonight.

Our first dog training class went well. Connor was even used by the trainer to demonstrate some of the techniques. GOOD DOG! I think dog training class should count as my Wednesday exercise. I came home tired and sweaty... Sounds like exercise to me... One hour walking and running around with your dog. Definitely exercise IMHO!

Question of the Day ~
This goes with yesterday's question ~ What is your healthy way of dealing with stress?

The Dog Park is a definite stress reliever. Running around with or sitting quietly under a tree watching a bunch of dogs playing is very relaxing and fun. The dogs always make me laugh.

Swimming is also a stress reliever for me. As a child I swam on several swim teams. I spent more of my waking hours in the water than on land almost every day. Just the smell of chlorinated pool water makes me smile. Is that weird or what?

Finally, I have a bunch of relaxing music and meditation CDs. I try to meditate a couple times a week.
